I went to Hollywood to see Night Watch at my favorite theater and lo and behold: The theater had been pirated for a world premiere of SLITHER. I asked if the public were invited and the woman supervising the installation of the handrail fences handed me a pass. She said that after all the celebs were in that if there were any seats left I could use my pass to get in. I loitered around for two hours and watched the red carpet roll out. Michael Rooker was the only star I recognized. Lots of good-looking fems, though. By the time the last celeb entered the theater a good 20 to 30 people with passes similar to mine had formed a line---behind me, of course. 4 people were allowed in. YES! 'sbeen a long time since I sat in the front row.

Anyhow, the movie was good; lots of goofy special effects. If you've seen the preview, you know what I mean. The crowd cheered as the credits rolled and their names passed, but many celebs left about halfway through the flick. No spoilers from me on this one. But I'll be seeing it again when it hits the wide release.

AC

P.S. No popcorn was sold for this movie. Not even free snacks, like cheese and crackers. Bottled water was handed out though, but they kept the caps. They did this too at the Clipper basketball game; that is, hand you the bottle uncapped. Something about making a bomb with the bottle and cap.

I see on Amazon that Tor will be releasing a new paperback printing of "The Tomb".
(1) Is this printing based on the 1998 version or has it been revised again since the cover says something about author's definitive version or something like that?
(2) I read The Tomb way back when. How much different is the newly revised version? (I rarely if ever re-read books).
Thanks,
Steve

Just finished signing / inscribing about 100 copies for Shocklines -- copies for people with strange names like Dejo and Maggers and Aphew and Ken V and others who slip this slippery mind. You should be receiving them soon.

Today I received The Last Rakosh. (Thank you Bluesman Mike!Wink )

I was surprsied the book is only 94 pages! But cover art design is beautiful.
I wondered why Rakosh's expression is too gentle....

Now I'm still reading Midnight Mass. After that, I'll read The Last Rakosh!

My number is 151. What's your number? Smile

Bought a bunch of the paperback GATEWAYS to hand out to friends, and natch, reread it. Now, I'm not (surprise!) anyone's bleeding heart liberal about a soul in a bad situation--God gave us free will, we can think and fight our way out of anything--but, jeez... Rereading Semelee's showdown with Rasalom...if anybody had the cards stacked against her from the first crooked deal, it was that poor woman. But I wondered--Rasalom hears his name spoken from anywhere, so:
1) What would happen if everyone on Earth said, "Rasalom" simultaneously?
2) Would Rasalom react to an electronically-generated voice speaking those dread syllables?
3) Suppose three bold warriors--call 'em "Biggles," "Law Dawg," and "Jimbo"-- said, in concert, each syllable =seperately=? Would the Claw of the Otherness hear, and chide them in a ghastly way?

Hard questions all. Perhaps they'll be addressed in the premiere issue of the refereed JOURNAL OF JACK STUDIES.Wink
