It is generally accepted that Hollywood is remaking too many movies.

Since there seems to be little we can do to discourage them from their folly, I was curious to see if the Board Members had any suggestions on movies that should be remade but have not been, as of yet.

My first suggestion is one I mentioned elsewhere (I think it was the Who Will Direct... thread):

John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness-the special effects in this movie were soooo bad, and the acting wasn't much better...and yet I still find the movie extremely creepy.

...and then of course:

The Keep-need I elaborate?

Any other remakes that would be a good idea?

Uwe Boll. Oh, do you not know who he is? Let me give you a few hints:
  • House of the Dead
  • Alone in the Dark
  • BloodRayne
  • BloodRayne 2
  • In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Seige Tale
Still don't know him? German director, movies hated by prettymuch everyone who sees them? No sense of taste whatsoever? Challenged internet critics to fight him in a boxing ring to end his negative criticism, and picks the smallest, scrawniest, weakest guy and kicks his ass? Yeeeeeeeeeaaaahhhh, HIM.

So there was a poll put up recently, called "STOP UWE BOLL," to which he responded that if it reached one million signatures, he would stop making movies altogether. Well, now it's reached over 150,000, so he decided to respond to it. Check this out.

Now say it with me: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHHHhhhh...

I particularly loved the name-dropping, and Dr. Boll's dubbing himself a "genius" was über-classy.

FPW, I dearly hope that this isn't the German director you'd once mentioned in the Great Search for a Director (for the Repairman Jack movie).

And P.S. - His new movie, Postal (yes, based on the video game), starring Scott Farkus from A Christmas Story, featuring Osama Bin Laden as a main character and a scene of a passenger plane hitting the Trade Towers as a comedic moment, is set to open on May 23rd, right after Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Dr. Boll believes that Postal will blow Indie out of the water, and that his grandfather could kick Harrison Ford's ass. Good day.

Did anyone know Ryan Reynolds was gonna be in this? He plays a mutant called Deadpool. His character is described as "a wisecracking and thoroughly insane mercenary who can heal like Wolverine."

I watched The Kingdom for the first time last night and I just wanted to say a few things about it...

1. Some of the cultural "dos" and don'ts" were way off. With the number of Middle Easterners in the film I would think they could have done some better research on this.

2. They elluded alot to oil which makes me think that this film was made as a subtle anti-war/anti-US government film, but I'm not entirely sure...nor do I care.

3. And most importantly the "attack" scene at the beginning and the last lines spoken by both Jaime Foxx and the young Arab jabbed at me as very real reminders of why myself and my comrades are over here, fighting. And as my eyes welled up with tears at the senseless killings during the terrorist attack my heart swelled with pride for what myself and my comrades in arms do for a living and what we've sacrificed.

If you haven't seen this movie watch it if you want, or don't. I don't really care one way or the other, but I thought I would share my thoughts about it with you all.

So I'm sitting at work and this dude that sits a couple of cubes down is talking about Blazing saddles and says that the quote 'Badges, We dont need no stinking badges' came from this movie.

So I told him while it may have been in this movie thats not where it came from. I told him it was The Treasure of the Sierra Madre with Bogart.

He said that Sierra Madre doesnt count because no one has ever seen it.

we are still argueing about it.....

Just finished reading "Gateways". Again. One of my favorite RJs. Anyhow, I had a question regarding something Anya said when she and Jack were talking. After the attempted hit by Devil, Jack went over to Anya's in search on answers. During their conversation regarding the Otherness and The Ally, Anya confirms that the Otherness has been involved in what's been happening to his father. She then mentions that "The Ally is involved here as well, though tenuously". So, my question is: How was the Ally involved in "Gateways"? Most everything that happened in Gateways was a direct result of either the Otherness or Anya. I didn't see any evidence of the Ally operating throughout the book. The "spear has no branches" philosophy applied by the Ally in later books doesn't seem to apply here as Devil, Semelee and the others behind the attacks on Tom seemed linked to the Otherness, not the Ally. So, would anyone like to take a stab at explaining in what capacity the Ally was involved in "Gateways"? Thanks!

Just now I heard the news Charlton Heston died. Sad

http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/04/06/heston.dead/

I liked his "Ben-Hur", "Planet of the Apes", and "Soylent Green".
