Last night, I watched very interesting documentary in History Channel.

http://www.history.com/minisites/life_after_people

Have you seen this show?

If humans were suddenly to disappear, what would happen to Earth? The structures which we've built, domesticated and wild animals, plants, trees.....everything change.

But I'm also interested with how people died out. Unknown virus? Wars? Global warming?

I've been reading you all's dream casts. Now I'm curious who your nightmare cast would be? Who would be the worst possible people to play Jack & friends? How could Hollywood ruin the movie before it ever got started, just because they wanted to put in popular names that just wouldn't fit? Here's my picks:

Jack=The Rock, Vin Diesel, Ashton Kutscher (sp?), Will Smith, Sean William Scott, Nicholas Cage, Ben Stiller
Abe=Tom Green, Jimmy Kimmel, Jason Mewes, Anthony Anderson, Sam Elliot, (that actually might be pretty cool though), Ben Stiller
Gia=Tara Reid, Renee Zelwegger, (sp? also, does she always look like she just bit into a lemon?), Rosario Dawson
Julio=Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell, George Lopez, Bernie Mac
Kusum=Ben Stiller, (I just can't stand him), Jet Li, Michael Madsen, the guy from Harold & Kumar
Kolobati=Sandra Oh, (don't like her much either), Maggie Gylenhall, (sp?), Marisa Tomei, Angelina Jolie, (she's in everything!)

So there you go. The worst possible casting ideas for the upcoming RJ movie, (in my humble opinion). Can you imagine Dan LaFontaine saying "If you see one movie this summer, see The Tomb. With The Rock, Anthony Anderson, Tara Reid, Ben Stiller, Jet Li, and starring Angelina Jolie. See the movie that has young 19 & 20 year olds writhing in anticipation. See The Tomb." Ugh. I mean, come on. Hollywood almost put Vin Diesel in the role of Agent 47 in Hitman. I wouldn't put anything past them.

Thoughts?

Looks like typically well desgined creatures, looking more and more like Elder Gods every time del Toro does em. Wink

Also, what has del Toro got for putting Luke Goss as the baddie in his sequels? That's twice now! He's obviously got that look about him.

...and now that I'm on this board, perhaps I can get insight from other folks.

POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT FROM CONSPIRACIES, (AND MAYBE HARBINGERS)!!!! (highlight to read)

The Twins. Who are they? Where did they come from? What could they do that had 'Molasar,' (I notice that you all don't say his real name either...discretion is the better part of valor), so scared? They didn't have Glaeken's sword, so what sort of supernatural powers did they have that closed the giant hole in the ground, and sent the Otherness packing?

Finally, why oh why did they have eyes like the Oculus, (Oculi?)? None of the other Yenicari did. And since Jack is now the Heir, why isn't he as indestructable as them? These things keep me up at night, and I need answers!

If someone else already asked all of this, I apologize, but I couldn't find it.

Any insight would be much appreciated.

Of course I only discovered them sometime near the end of last year...Midnight Mass was actually the first FPW book I read. Then I started reading the RJ books with Criss Cross being my first one...it was kind of like walking into the middle of a conversation between two people I didn't know, but in a good way.

Just finished Bloodlines not too long ago. Thought it was good, but I'm anticipating By the Sword to be a monster novel. With everything that's been set up, I can't see it as being anything but stellar.

Anyway, that's mostly it. By the way, can anyone tell me where this sudden urge for everyone to read Black Wind came from? Is it new? Does By the Sword have something to do with it? My brother bought it online, and the next time I make a run down to Tampa to see him, (it's only about 120 miles or so away), I'll borrow it from him, but it seems...odd. Anyway, if someone could enlighten me it would be much appreciated.

Nice to be aboard.

By surprise, I got this movie last weekend. It had been somewhere around 20 years since I'd last seen this flick. I'd assumed it would just sit in my Blockbuster queue forever. I watched it last Saturday and it was awfully good. You get to see Peter Jackson at his rawest; no sets, a teeny budget for special effects, but he was extremely creative even then.

I watched while I cleaned house and watched the baby so I missed a LOT of dialogue (but somehow that didn't effect the continuity of the movie-go figure?). I completely forgot about the guy falling on the rock and cracking his skull open. It was gross when his head would open up and he'd go into seizures and would pack pieces of brain back there =YUCK=.

I started to check what was available through Blockbuster. No Meet the Feebles (had that in my Netflix queue), no The Valley, I have Dead Alive (I hope it's the unrated version), and The Frighteners.
