Hi everyone. I've been enjoying Mr. Wilson's work for a while now and lurking on this board. Today I figured I'd post after learning the concept of Westphalian sovereignty the concept of nation-state sovereignty. I cannot help but believe this could be the basis of the Westphalen name.

No searches in this forum resulted in any information regarding this. So, I ask, does anyone know if Westphalian sovereignty was an inspiration to the Westphalen name?

Anyone else looking forward to the upcoming adaptation of Clive Barker's short story "The Midnight Meat Train?" It's being directed by Ryuhei Kitamura, and stars Bradley Cooper and Vinnie Jones. It looks slick, and of course very expansive of the story, but as long as they keep a certain twist in the story (if you've read the story, you know exactly what I'm talking about), it should work really well. Supposedly Clive Barker was working very closely with Kitamura on the film, so I doubt it'll take any directions it shouldn't be. I, for one, am pumped.

The film opens August 1st, possibly limited - which is good enough, because it was back-and-forth for the longest time as a possible direct-to-DVD release. The fact that it will even open in ANY theaters is good.

Still not quite intrigued? Get this: a serial killer in the New York subways... Just look at the poster and raise an eyebrow:

Welcome aboard, next stop hell!

A reader named Josephine wrote this morning and quoted one of Kusum's lines from The Tomb. In 25+ years she's the first to mention it and identify the film from which I culled it.

"...I dislike to be touched. An Eastern prejudice."

She even knew the name of the character in the film. I'm amazed. I thought no one would spot that. Kudos to her.

No fair Googling the line, because you'll find it.

Enjoyed the story. Was extremely informative re: pre WW2 Germany and the rise of Hitler.

SPOILER
Beyond the general spookiness of precognition and the "mysterious stranger who knows too much" and who defeats the protagonists efforts"
what did the story really add to the Adversary Cycle or Jack series that would have FPW list it in the SECRET HISTORY OF THE WORLD section of the main website? Is there some connection I'm missing?

I went to see this at our new, completely digital neighborhood theatre last night and found it quite good. Abigail Breslin is certainly an accomplished little actress and Foster handles physical comedy pretty well. The island is gorgeous and the story is entertaining if not terribly original. But the best the thing about it is that it was all FREE! My wife entered a drawing during the grand opening and she won 48 movie passes and on Friday in the entertainment section of the paper there was a coupon for a free #1 Combo so I gathered all the papers at my school and collected all the coupons(22 to be exact).

I love free shit.

Lions for Lambs: The plot is America is fighting the war in Afghanistan after 9/11. The movie was mostly about talks. That is three parallel stories connecting each other. The movie concentrates on an hour one morning.

In Washington, TV reporter Janine Roth is interviewing Republican senator Irving.

In an university of California, a promising but lazy student is meeting with his teacher.

In Afghanistan, two American soldiers are taking part in a covert operation.

Robert Redford is terrific actor. He also directed this movie. Meryl Streep as TV reporter, she shows good acting as usual. But one problem is.......well, you know. It's Tom Cruise.

I couldn't see him as senator. He was,.....Tom Cruise. Rolleyes

Hey, gang,
What would you think about a venue for "Repairman Jack" fan fiction?

Just curious,

Hey, Gang!
Just got on here, and want to say, what a GREAT board!
I just finished reading (for about the 12th time) "The Tomb" and the ending
gave me a piece of de ja vue!
Has anyone noticed (or is it just me) that the ending of "The Tomb" is VERY similar to the 1986 film "Aliens"????
With Jack holding Vicks on his hip on one arm, and with a flame-thrower in the other hand, working his way thru the bowels of the Rashoshi nursery, and burning as many creatures as he can, trying to leave the ship before the bombs that he planted blow them all to kingdom come....it seems like James Cameron is a big RJ fan, and stole the whole ending of his movie from our beloved Mr. Wilson!
Or am I just being paranoid?

I just read a new article rotten tomatos has up about the production companies turning to books and magazines for movie ideas, because of the lack of scripts after the writers strike. Could these lead to new life in the RJ movie? May we finaly see the movie close to production? I sure hope so. What do you guys think?

I remember back in early March hearing that Chef Robert Irvine (the semi-bodybuilder whose ears put Mr. Rumbold from Are You Being Served to shame) was fired from the Food Network due to lying about his credentials (something along those lines, I don't remember the details). However, his show Dinner: Impossible is still on, commercials and lower-corner-blurbs and all.

Does anyone know what happened? Did Food Network settle with him, or are they just airing all of the new episodes filmed prior to his firing?

I'm just a little confused by his continuing presence.
