Today I saw NEXT.

It says "Based on the novel by Philp K. Dick", but I don't think so. I read original short story, "The Golden Man". But in this movie, Nicolas Cage wasn't golden man. I guess script writers didn't read short story! They shouldn't say this is based on the novel of PKD. It's insulting to Philip K. Dick.

Some action sequences forced a smile to me. Oh, this movie had many stupid scenes. He said "I can see two minutes future", but clearly he could foresee the far future.

I was waiting for the movie of The Man in High Castle. Who can make the movie? I'm not sure now...

My first post and I'm already attempting to blow minds. Well, here goes...

First thing: I'm not sure if this is explained in Nightworld, which I understand is the last Repairman Jack book, before it technically ends. But assuming it's not, here it is: I think Jack is meant to be the Otherness's One. In Harbingers, The Lady says that all the crazy things that happened to Jack's loved ones was the Ally trimming his branches, but I think she was lying. I think it really was the Otherness. Consider: In Conspiracies, Jack has two nightmares, and in one of them the rakoshi kill Gia and Vicky, saying they were cutting Jack's ties to the world, and that he could finally be one of them. And then there were those crates, which I think were really sent to his hotel room because the Otherness wanted him to cross over and become indoctrinated.

Also, in Gateways, all those Everglades people were set to kill Tom. They were obviously being influenced by the Otherness, not the Ally, and they were trying to trim one of Jack's "branches" again. Look at Infernal, where the Lilitongue was first going to take Vicky, then Gia, then Jack himself! If that had happened, I think he would have been sent to the Otherness, cutting all of his branches in one fell swoop.

This kind of thing happens all the time in the Repairman Jack books.

Also, as a side note, I wanted to mention that in The Tomb, just after Jack lights the Mother on fire, it screams something that sounds like "Spa fon!" Could that be "Rasalom"?

Oh, and one more thing. Don't think you can pull a fast one on me, F. Paul Wilson! For those of you who haven't realized every single number- I repeat, EVERY SINGLE NUMBER- in Bloodline is a multiple of seven.

Because of the confusion with the spoiler tag in Magger's original "LOST the 4th season" thread I thought it might simplify things to create a specific thread dedicated to the discussion of LOST that consist of spoilers. This way no one has to block out conversations.

So be warned: discussions in this thread MAY contain spoilers regarding LOST. Read at your own risk.

The BFI has restored the classic Hammer Film "DRACULA" (US: "Horror Of Dracula") and this restored print is now playing in British theatres under the original title. I understand a limited US release is planned also.
Years ago I saw a mint 16mm IB Technicolour print, with the Universal International logo at the start, owned by Blatimore actor George Stover, played at FANEX, which was beautiful. This new 35MM print was fully restored and is also uncut as well. YOUTUBE is running the new trailer under DRACULA BFI RESTORATION TRAILER. Check it out!

I was at Arrow in the Head, the horror movie sister site to JoBlo.com, when I saw a news blurb saying, "Ruben directs Jack." Excited and somewhat nervous, I clicked through (http://www.joblo.com/arrow/index.php?id=11951), then relaxed when I read it was a "medical thriller that centers on a doctor who rehabilitates and ultimately falls for an accident victim with memory loss, unaware that he is actually a killer."

So if you hear news about an upcoming JACK movie, be wary - it might just be this.

I was looking among my unread books last night trying to decide what to read next, when I spotted Harbingers and Bloodline on the shelf. I'm trying desperately not to read these because I don't want to run out of RJ books - I like to keep one or two in reserve until the next comes out. I then started wondering whether other people do this, or is it just me?
I even try to wait until they come out in paperback, but this is mainly because I've received too many head injuries by falling asleep at night reading the hardbacks.

So, what do you do? Read it straight away, or try to hold out for as long as you can?

Chev.

Although an excellent movie, Before The Devil Knows You're Dead left me feeling low. The web of deception spun by these characters becomes quite tangled and icky leaving no one to root for. Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Albert Finney and Ethan Hawke are in top form here, Marissa Tomei less so, but she is scantily clad or nude for much of her screen time so she is forgiven:p. Sidney Lumet's direction is solid-I enjoyed how the film was put together. So I do recommend it, but it may be one you have to be in the proper mood for.

I was just looking through the information on FPW's Adversary Cycle and Repairman Jack and was thinking how woefully brief it was.

The Adversary Cycle

The Keep

The Tomb

The Touch

Reborn

Reprisal

Nightworld

Apart from The Keep and Nightworld, they're all barely a paragraph long. I was thinking about doing something about it, but I have never written a wikipedia article before so wouldnt reallly know where to start, and also I have only ever read the Adversary cycle the once and that was a few years ago now --- I really doubt I know enough on my own to do the job justice.

So I was thinking, where would I find a whole bunch of people who know everything there is to know about RJ and the Adversary Cycle . . . Wink

It would be a massive undertaking to write up full articles for all 6 books on your own, but if we do it in a similar way to The Story So Far or the Movie Game or something - - - each of us contributing one paragraph or so to this forum every time we're online, and then when the piece is ready one of us trot over to wikipedia and upload the text.

It would be fun.

I suggest that for each book in the AC we would need the following catoegories:

Introduction
Plot Outline
Interconnections

We would write and edit the entries in this forum collaboratively and then upload the finshed douchberries to wikipedia where they will be of great use to anyone wanting to find out more about FPW or the AC on the internet's biggest free encyclopedia. Cool

Hi everyone. I've been enjoying Mr. Wilson's work for a while now and lurking on this board. Today I figured I'd post after learning the concept of Westphalian sovereignty the concept of nation-state sovereignty. I cannot help but believe this could be the basis of the Westphalen name.

No searches in this forum resulted in any information regarding this. So, I ask, does anyone know if Westphalian sovereignty was an inspiration to the Westphalen name?

Anyone else looking forward to the upcoming adaptation of Clive Barker's short story "The Midnight Meat Train?" It's being directed by Ryuhei Kitamura, and stars Bradley Cooper and Vinnie Jones. It looks slick, and of course very expansive of the story, but as long as they keep a certain twist in the story (if you've read the story, you know exactly what I'm talking about), it should work really well. Supposedly Clive Barker was working very closely with Kitamura on the film, so I doubt it'll take any directions it shouldn't be. I, for one, am pumped.

The film opens August 1st, possibly limited - which is good enough, because it was back-and-forth for the longest time as a possible direct-to-DVD release. The fact that it will even open in ANY theaters is good.

Still not quite intrigued? Get this: a serial killer in the New York subways... Just look at the poster and raise an eyebrow:
