lexator222 Wrote:Hey, Gang!
Just got on here, and want to say, what a GREAT board!
I just finished reading (for about the 12th time) "The Tomb" and the ending
gave me a piece of de ja vue!
Has anyone noticed (or is it just me) that the ending of "The Tomb" is VERY similar to the 1986 film "Aliens"????
With Jack holding Vicks on his hip on one arm, and with a flame-thrower in the other hand, working his way thru the bowels of the Rashoshi nursery, and burning as many creatures as he can, trying to leave the ship before the bombs that he planted blow them all to kingdom come....it seems like James Cameron is a big RJ fan, and stole the whole ending of his movie from our beloved Mr. Wilson!
Or am I just being paranoid?

Welcome Lexator:
Well...it does give one food for thought.
One would have to assume that the script for Aliens was in development well before '86.
Since the Tomb came out in '84, that would be one hell of a fast re-write.
What is even more interesting is that, in Alien Resurection, they completed the rip-off by making the creatures into a monster/human Hybrid, which all the Rakoshi were except, for the mother.
The biggest problem though, is that when the
Repairman Jack I: Claws of the Rakoshi does finally come out, all the kiddies on other discussion boards across the net will say things like: "Good movie, but the ending was a complet rip-off of Aliens."
You heard it here, first.
