What fun. Reminded me of Idle Hands.

And now for the critique! This book was great! What an adventure FPW took me on in this book! I really loved the symbolism, (it's packed with it) and the bonds between family! I really loved catching the slight referance to GEM and an anagram FPW loves to do! (NO ,we are not talking about the BAD guy we all know and hate), I bought this book used on Amazon for a penny, and in my opinion it is priceless. I am soooo surprised there is no talk about this book.

I've just finished "Mirage", and I loved it! It was a great book but I would love to hear some of FPW ideas on hypnotic regression and false memorys (for a personal reason).

The real question for this thread is--- Where is "DNA Wars"?
At the end of this book it says watch for DNA Wars, the new novel by F. Paul Wilson and Mathew J. Costello from Warner Aspect in April 1998. So, where is this book?

Didn't his sidekick (i.e. dick cheney) play Nosferatu in that old silent film?
Maybe that was his dad. Like father like son when it comes to bloodbaths.

I enjoyed three movies that are safe for the entire family this past weekend: Big Fat Liar, Sky Captain and the Planet of Tomorrow and Danny Deckchair. I know BFL has been out for awhile but I had never seen it; it is like a Repairman Jack for the teenage crowd-very satisfying conclusion. I did not like SCATPOT as much as I thought I would, but the visuals and and action sequences make up for what I thought was mediocre acting (except for Jolie, who was excellent). Finally, there is DD, a truly zany romantic comedy with winning performances from Rhys Ifans and Miranda Otto. It kept a grin plastered to face throughout the whole movie. DD is not really geared for kids, but both my kids were glued to it. The 'launch' scene is worth the rent alone.

Alright, everybody. Not sure if this topic has been discussed before (or had its own thread). What are some (good) books you've read that have been adapted into movies where you thought they did an excellent job with the adaptation.

I stared reading up on it after i finished Crisscross and the more i read the more scared i become. It's hard to believe that people can still believe into this stuff in todays day and age. What is the world would cause them to even consider joining? It's truly at a loss. These people seem dangerous to me and i'm surprised our government has let this go on (not a big fan of Bush, but maybe he put that Christian talk of his to use for once.)

I recomend this as a start http://lermanet.com/ for more info.

I went into this movie knowing absolutely nothing about it except that it was a Coen Brothers movie. What a wild trip this was! Dan Hedaya hires a private investigator (M Emmet Walsh) to kill his wife and her lover (Frances McDormand and John Getz). Similar to Fargo, things begin to go wrong and they just continue to escalate out of control. Good performances all around, but M Emmet Walsh steals the show.

If you liked Fargo, you will most likely enjoy this one, too.

8/10.

P.S. No nudity. Wink

Hey all, just wanted to mention these 2 japanese actioners that i found to be good mindless fun. Versus has a somewhat tedious story but it makes up for it in the cool action scenes, by the end of the movie the story picks up and ends up with a nice twisted ending. Returner is another goody, time travel mixed with some very nice action scenes, story was fairly decent for a movie of this type. Both of these movies were found at my local blockbuster... Happy hunting!

Johnny Carson's passing marks the end of an era. When we were finally old enough to be allowed to stay up that late, my brothers and I loved to watch him. He was probably the greatest straight man in television, and he could do a double take like nobody's business.

So far as I'm concerned, there hasn't been a personality in late night television who has been able to fill his shoes. He was king of a different era, but it was a fun one and he gave us, me, a great ride for a long time.
