It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World.

Pretty much all of it is hilarious. Every comedic bigshot of the era starred in it or popped in for a cameo.

Favorite scenes:

Jonathon Winters tearing up Ray and Irwin's garage.

Sylvester running Uncle Miltie and the Limey off the road then beating the crap out of them.

The big stupid grin on buddy Hackett's face while exchanging smiles with Spencer Tracy after they find the big W.

I could probably list a hundred scenes. The film is a true classic

Hi there

I've recently bought some books off this guy on ABE, and noticed he has a lot of early 1985 - 1995 FPW HB and PB 1st editions for sale at reasonable prices - some being review copies with letters inside. He also has loads more not yet listed so he tells me, and you can email him to ask him if there is something specific you're after.

He's a really reliable guy, books are AS stated in condition, and FAST delivery too.

His name is Phil Stephensen-Payne and can be emailed at phil@philsp.com

His ABE seller name is Galactic Central Publications

Could be a chance for someone to get some elusive FPW titles they've been looking for. I would like to point out though that I am NOT on commission from him, I just thought that somebody on this board may be interested if they're looking for any elusive titles to complete their collections.

All the best

I've been considering putting together a list of the best ghost movies, and I thought I'd seek out the help of the forum for suggestions and opinions. Maybe there are some out there that I should catch, too. Don't think of current films only. On my start list below, you'll find an old one that's unexpected!

Here's some I find to be excellent:

The Others
The Sixth Sense
The Haunting
Field of Dreams
The Time of Their Lives (a hilarious Abbot and Costello comedy that is one of their best movies)

I think I want to add THE RING to this also, but, I tell you, this flick scared the crap out of me for some reason. I've only been able to watch it once and sold off my DVD of it, the thing creeped me out so much. I'm not sure why, really, since I have watched films more intense. This one just takes the cake for me personally on fright. The images stick with you long after the film is over.

Some might suggest I put GHOST on the list. That's certainly worth consideration. Anyone want to take on its defense? It's got a brief and little-known apperarance by Mike Jittlov in it to go in its favor! (He played the demon-ghosts at the end who took the villian off to hell.)

I also watched the version of THIRTEEN GHOSTS with Tony Shaloub. I heard a lot of people disliked this. It had a certain appeal, and I was interested in what others thought.

Open to your comments and suggestions, please! Thank you!

This is fantastic!

Maybe this is popular comic book among American comics readers, but still this is not popular in Japan. I want to see this movie ASAP.

I cannot believe anyone would consider Ashton Kutcher for the role of
Repairman Jack. Jason Biggs??? Topher Grace??? Colin Hanks??? Give me a break!!!
As far as I can see there is no mid-twenties actor that fits the role of
Repairman Jack.
Why not just have that guy who plays Fez on "That 70's Show"? (I'm
kidding).
In the words of Hank Hill: "Why not just go all the way and give me a cat
and a sex change operation!"

Why not have Trey Parker and Matt Stone do the film, but with puppets and
plenty of explsions. (Heh, heh, heh). You'd probably have Abe (like Kim il Jong) sounding suspiciously a lot like Cartman.

Seriously, though, it's a shame that the actor's age rules out Edward Norton, Kiefer Sutherland, Matt Damon, or others who could probably carry off the
role. At least FPW said it wasn't Frankie Muniz!.

Oh!!! I've just had another horrifying thought! Maybe Satan himself is
running this film and will cast McCaulley Culkin (Home Alone) in the role
of Repairman Jack. If that happens I can't see Glaeken ever being able
to defeat Rasalom. The "otherness" would bcome too strong to be defeated.

I just want some reassurances (hopefully from FPW himself) that the following
people will not be allowed to play Repairman Jack:

1) Topher Grace!!!!
2) Ashton Kutcher!!!!
3) That guy who plays Fez on "That 70's Show".

I am glad he said it wasn't Frankie Muniz (boy, talk about a miss cast!).

My personal choices for the role would start with Edward Norton, followed
by Kiefer Sutherland and Matt Damon. I know these guys are all in their
early to late thirties, but they fit the Repairman Jack character from the
books far better than any other mid-twenties aged actors.

On the other hand at least we don't have to worry about Keanu Reeves
taking on the role.

I received my author copies yestreday. Best cover yet. [Links to specific CD titles never seem to work. So go to the website (http://www.cemeterydance.com/) and search it out. Phil Parks is full of surprises.]

RJ often mentions the Equalizer. He is upset at this fictional representation of what he does, because people assume he does it for free 'like that guy on TV'. However, I see few similarities between RJ and the Equalizer. however, here is another TV Character from a short-lived show in the late 80's called Stingray. Actually, Stingray has many similar traits to Jack.
He is a mysterious man with no identity.
He fixes problems.
He alwyas demands payment (in a very very different form than RJ)
He is inventive like RJ, although he is a bit more physical being a marital arts expert.
Does anyone else remember this?

Well, the revised contract is on my agent's desk, so I guess it's safe to tell you that IDW will be publishing a five-issue series of The Keep, scripted by yours truly and illustrated by the Forum's own Matthew D. Smith.

The first script is due this March with an eye toward starting publication this summer. The five issues will then be combined into a graphic novel.

I'm reeeeally looking forward to this. At last we'll see what the movie coulda / shoulda been.

I don't know if any of you are planning to see this remake but I have and found it entertaining.

While the premise remains, those who assault the precinct have been changed to accomodate a more current state of affairs. The dilemma the lead officer at the precinct has to make is handled without didactism or preachiness which I appreciated.

Although I am not an Ethan Hawke fan, I found him serviceable and Fishbourne brought a neat coolness to his character- a guy who knew who he was and where he was going.

In comparasion to the original, the remake doesn't appear as taut nor as claustrophobic but does have its moments.

Any thoughts?
