I saw this a couple weeks ago and overall it was just okay, but there were some disturbing scenes in there. A few well choreographed scares can make a movie for me. Like...

.
.
.
When the girl looks in the trash compactor and finds her friend's father's body in there all twisted up and he's still alive!

And when she's getting a ride home from this reporter in the middle of the night and she sees her father and you see a brief glimpse of him with a long, spiralled tongue sticking out of his mouth.

I was half drunk and half sleep by the end so I fell asleep on it. I'm in the middle of Audition (recorded it on IFC) now.

Another of those movies Mary and I thought we could watch together. We both bailed after 20 minutes. Un-freaking-watchable.

A drama/thriller, set in a small town in Alabama, about a young boy who longs to escape the misery of his childhood and the misunderstanding of his hometown. A gifted, self-taught, special effects make-up artist, Green dreams of going to Hollywood to make his own monsters. But the real demons of Green's life threaten to hold him back: a drunken stepfather who terrorizes his mother, a group of religious fanatics who want to destroy his work, and the love of a girl who can't let go of small town life.

Not a big bucks flick with famous actors but well done, and a good story. The cast did a great job, especially Kevin Gage as the stepfather. Well done for a low budget movie. Definitely worth renting.

About a year ago, I listened to an interview w/ FPW where he discussed the origins of the Dormentalists from the book. Does anyone still have the link for that interview? Or a copy of it, that I can download?

Ok I am a BIG TIME history buff... I would normally love a nice epic historical movie...
Last week I saw the directors cut of Alexander in my local store -- so I said what the hell I don't normally agree with the movie critics so lets give it a try.

OMG what a total POS movie..Don't even go near it...I don't care how much you like history this movie is just a total waste of money.

Too silly. Might be good for 8-12-year olds, but it doesn't push the story much past the first. The novelty of a Tex Avery cartoon with real people (abetted by CGI) is gone. If I want to watch a Tex Avery cartoon (the protagonist's surname is Avery - gee) I'll watch a Tex Avery cartoon. Alan Cumming saves what there is to be saved.

This was better than I expected. Slow, yes, but with a building creepiness. I found the ending disappointing - could have done with a little explanation - but I kept my hand off the FF button.

This evening, I borrowed rental DVD. "Idle Hands". I'm not sure but someone mentioned about this movie. I walked around in rental video store, and I found "Idle Hands".......so, I borrowed it and watched it now.

What a hilarious horror/comedy! While I was watching the movie, I couldn't stop laughing. Story is simple. One young boy,Anton's right hand was possessed by a devil, and his hand started moving at will, then started killing people! It's grotesque! But at the same time it was funny. This movie reminded me of "Shaun of Dead", "Evil Dead II". Big Grin

Jessica Alba's cute. I couldn't imagine that after this movie she did appearances in "Dark Angel".

Has anyone seen this movie? If you didn't, I highly recommend it.

And, if you know any movies similar to "Idle Hands", tell me please. I really like this genre!

This evening, I watched HEAVY METAL on DVD.

What a fantastic animation! The movie was made in 1981. Not CG animation. But it was very neat. Seven short episodes in movie, and each story is individual. My favorite story is "episode2; Harry Canyon". It reminded me of Blade Runner or Fifth Element. Of course, other stories were excellent too. Some of crowd scenes in "last episode; Taarna" were like The Lord of the Rings.

And, another important element is rock music. A lot of artists offered their songs to movie. Blue Oyster Cult, Donald Fagen, Stevie Nicks, Cheap Trick, Sammy Hager, Black Sabbath, Devo, Journey....oh, what a splendid singers!

Art, SF fantasy, action, hardrock, violence, drug, and.....sex. I want to see live film version. It'll be great! Cool

Has anyone seen this movie...? Or should I say "Do you remember this movie?"

I found this article in Robert McCammon website. Frank Darabont intend to make a movie, McCammon's "MINE".

"I came close to getting MINE into production this year, but it was a near-miss. For those who may not know, getting a movie greenlit for production is like having the planets align---countless factors all have to come together at the right moment for anything to happen. I remain committed to making MINE, and am currently in a search for the actresses to play the lead roles of Laura and Mary. I'm hoping to get the movie before the cameras at some point in 2006, although it might be later that year rather than earlier. That's because circumstance and opportunity (the planets aligning) might dictate that I direct my adaptation of Stephen King's great horror novella, The Mist, first. If so, I will likely start shooting The Mist this coming December, '05."

Who will play Mary and Laura...? I guess......

Mary...Linda Hamilton
Laura...Nicole Kidman

Anyway, "Mine" is my favorite McCammon's book. I'm looking forward to movie version.
