Every now and then a film so heartfelt and moving comes about. A film that makes us question our own mortality and how our lives will be reviewed by those so close to us. Every great generation has a movie that attests to the strength of the ties that bind.

This is not one of those movies, but it is pretty damn hillarious.

Die Mommie Die is a little seen screen gem that sends up any melodrama from the 50's age of women in pictures. The film is set in said decade and focuses on aged recording artist Angela Arden. Angela seems to have it all, 2 grown/warped children, a film director husband and a myriad of lovers.

Angela's husband is driving her crazy, she want's a divorce, he wants to maintain the public image of a Hollywood power couple. What's a woman to do? Murder most foul of course.

What ensues is campy craziness at its celluloid finest. Film is played straight-faced amid corny dialogue, hillarious backscreening and some creative costumes/makeup.

"Die" will never win any awards but is clever enough of a trainwreck to keep anyone looking for a laugh engaged. This easily could have been a John Waters film with it's trashy lines, the main role of Angela played by a man in drag, sex, violence and even a mystery to boot!

The movie uses liberal amounts of gay themed humor but it is peppered throughout the script and therefore it is not intended for those with a discriminating palate. But for the open minded viewer who enjoys camp, wonderfully written parodies then this may be worth checking out.

Angela Arden: Charles Busch
Tony Parker: Jason Priestley
Shatzi van Allen: Nora dunn
Bootsie Carp: Frances Conroy
Sol Sussman: Philip Baker Hall

Sent my final revision to Guantlet Press today. Here's what Barry said:

You can mention on your website that we began taking orders today and that the book will be released several months earlier than usual. We'll have a better idea once it's laid out and at the printer.

I pulled this guy out the crowd at a show and made him a Shamiqster.

When I was looking through pictures of older shows I noticed he had been coming to our shows from the beginning and I had never noticed him.

He always comes incognito so I named him Repairman Jack.

Shamiqsters are this cult of folks who come to all of our shows. There are about 200 of them and they often dress up in costumes to match the costumed theme of our band for the night.

If you’re bored and you want to check out some of the other Shamiqsters profiles you can do so here: http://www.erosadis.com/shamiqsters

Spielberg's "Munich" was terrific. Many questions are raised and none really answered because there are no answers, easy or otherwise. It's a thoughtful and provocative film that will lead to much discussion. Eric Bana is terrific and Spielberg puts together a seemless 1973 world. I highly recommend it.

I think the best way to watch this is the way I did: While doing something else. I was wrapping Christmas presents while it played. It’s endlessly silly but fun. Since I felt no time pressure, I didn’t bother with the remote, so its FF score might be artificially low.

Until the past couple of weeks, my viewing has been curbed for the past few months. Over the past couple of weeks I've managed to see several films:

dot the i starring Gael Garcia Bernal and Natalia Verbeke. If you're into crafty romantic, thrillers then put this at the top of your list; it is excellent. It is Bernal's first English-speaking performance and he loses none of his magnetism in the transition and the camera certainly likes Verbeke as well. Their chemistry really makes the movie tick.

11:14 starring an ensemble of actors you'll recognize but might not be able to name. This little thriller about how the lives of the ensemble intertwine due to the events that take place at 11:14 isn't quite as seamless as it should be, but it is worth seeing.

Blizzard is fun, heartwarming Christmas tale about the latest addition to the Santa's reindeer herd and a young girl who loves to ice skate. It delivers its message about Christmas spirit without beating us over the head. Christopher Plummer is simply one of the best Santas ever. It is now part of Christmas movie stable.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind starring you know who, but the real star is Charlie Kaufman the most original writer currently residing in hollywood. I know this movie was discussed ages ago, so I'll just say I loved it.

Valiant sucked. Ranks with Shark's Tale for worst CGI film yet.

Well I have now finished Gateways (YIPPEE!!!). I thoroughly enjoyed it. I must say FPW you always leave me hanging.... I can't wait to get started on Crisscross so I can get the answers to some of my questions. As always, Jack rocks!!

My wife bought me Midnight Mass for Christmas last year. I liked the book a lot.
While shopping for a stroller on amazon, I looked up the Midnight Mass DVD and bought it.

The acting was poor, the adaptation was awful, the score was terrible and the editing could have been better. Was this movie filmed with only one camera?

I have to say I loved it. I think I put it right up there with my other favorite porn “Conan the Barbarian.”

I’ve been trying to find a place that rents “The Keep” but I’ve had no luck so far.
