I just finished the Fifth Harmonic...I think it is one of only a couple FPW's I haven't read yet, and I loved it, absolutely. But, I was suprised by the vivid sex scene in this one. Most of FPW's sexual writings are contained to references and/or the lead up to the actions, like a PG-13 or light R movie. But in this book, it was very descriptive, using lots of verbs, adverbs, and adjectives to describe the act. After getting to the end, it becomes obvious why it was written like that, because it is an integral part of the story, but I still found that part of the writing very much a suprise. Not in a bad way or anything, but it was a departure. Very good writing though...just though I would make an observation.

This evening I went to theater see "Lord of War".

It was very interesting. Nicolas Cage is a weapon dealer. I don't know much about weapons. Maybe Ken V and Biggles would love this movie. But one simple question came up. Until now, many movies were made in the world, but I've never seen the movie's main character is a weapon dealer. Surely, I saw weapon dealers as a villain in action movies, for example....in 007 series. But in "Lord of War", weapon dealer was played by famous actor Nicolas Cage. One of my favorite scenes were opening scene. It has worth to see. Very unique, but shocking.

Whole movie was very realistic to me. Especially character(weapon dealer) was very realistic. Nicolas Cage's performance was outstanding. He wear suits and bringing attache case. He looks normal business man. But once he opened his mouth, he'll say "AK47? Yes, I have it. How many do you need?".

Ken V, Biggles....did you see this movie? If you didn't see it yet, check it out. Wink

I just watched it this evening; it's pretty impressive visually, especially the train sequences. I couldn't sustain much interest in the story after the midpoint, but I recommend it for the wind-blown ticket scene alone.

Ok -- first off I realize there has already been a post about this movie months ago.. However like many others I didnt go see it..that being said I do check the blockbuster site once a week to see what new movies come out (they come out every Tues here) -- it just came out and I rented it.

It was ok, as others have said it was not just about spiritual matters but also the court case around them.. The movie was decent but nothing special..

If your into horror or occult films you will enjoy it but don't expect it to be one of the best you ever watched..

Jeeze speaking of horror/occult or in this case cult films the other movie I rented a week ago was land of the dead by George A. Romero..what POS movie...

Thanks to FPW for the complete list. The site below will allow you to "tour" the buildings from your computer. -Chris

http://www.nyc-architecture.com/ARCH/ARCH-ALPHA.htm

Here are some of Jack's favorite buildings. The first 2 are international landmarks, but they become a little more obscure -- to out of towners -- after that:

Chrysler Building – E. 42nd

Flat Iron

The old Pythian Club (now apts) - 135 W. 70th

The Level Club (build by Masons) on W. 70th

Hearst Magazine Building - 959 8th Ave. (57th & 8th) 6 stories with urn-topped columns jutting above the roofline at each corner and over the entry arch.

The Radiator Building – 40 W. 40th

Woolworth Building (esp. lobby) 233 broadway

Sherry-Netherland Hotel – 781 5th

Jefferson Market Courthouse – 6th Ave & 10th

NY Yacht Club – W. 44th (the windows look like the stern of a galleon)

Since my girlfriend and I won't be spending Christmas together this year we exchanged gifts this morning. I'm totally freaking out right now because she got me the only F. Paul Wilson book I've been missing from the Gauntlet collection: Conspiracies. Number 443: it now sits comfortably with its Gauntlet RJ family. So very happy!

I'm reading Midnight Mass. I am about 3/4 of the way through it. I remember reading the teaser for the book before I bought it. FPW was tired of the poor examples of vampires that "other" writers had come up with. He wanted to write a book that showed what vampires really were. He did'nt like the "Hollywood" version of vamps. Anyway........As I was reading I noticed that the vampires would read Anne Rice novels to each other for a laugh. I thought that this was just perfect and ballzie. I enjoyed reading about "real" vampires laughing at the works of the biggest name in vampire novels. I love the twist Paul. Big Grin

Happy Holidays to everyone! I will soon be leaving for the "big city" of Chicago with my youngest son and we're hoping to see King Kong at an I-Max while we're out there. That would be VERY awesome!
