I just recently discovered Wilson as an author and am reading from a each of his different "genres" for lack of a better word. I started on the RpJ series but I can't seem to find a Kindle edition of the 3rd one. Any scoop? I only read by Kindle these days so no interest in tracking this down in print.

Thanks!

Oh, and this was by far the most tedious registration process I've ever encountered for a message board! And I just had a simple question!

So it seems like several members here have iPads. Aside from the usual apps (google, Facebook, twitter, Netflix, etc.) what gems have you found?

I love UPAD, it is one of the few apps I paid for. I think it was $2.99 or $4.99. You can take notes with your finger or a stylus, and the writing area is enlarged so you can write better. You can also download PDFs into the app (via iTunes synch) and type or write your own notes on them. I used it at a large conference in March and it was awesome! I could even send my notes as a PDF to my friend.

I also recently started using Zite at the recommendation of a friend. It is free. It makes a custom newspaper of things you are interested in based on keywords you select. As you browse the stories in each section (pulled from around the web) you tell Zite if you liked it or not, and it learns what you like to pull better stories as time goes on. So far I like it, but i've only had two days of teaching it what I like.

What apps have you found?

I'm reading the books out of order. I collect and send a lot of books to the troops and a copy of 'All The Rage' wasn't in condition to send as the binding was bad. It was recommended by Joe R. Lansdale and Andrew Vachss (who my brother is a big fan of), so I decided to give Mr. Wilson's book a read based on their jacket comments. I was pleasantly surprised. Always nice to find another author to enjoy.

I know that RJ books have been around for a while and I'm reading The Tomb (Rakoshi) now. Were the books updated (specifically The Tomb) as there are items and places mentioned that don't fit in well with the 1984 original printing date. The area around Times Sq. being cleaned up for example (definitely the seedy underbelly in '84). I see wikipedia mentions it is "recently updated for 2004, in order to tie in chronologically". So I'm guessing there were some dates changes so that the RJ books flowed better.

I appreciate any clarification.

Anyone else seen this movie? Jason Statham plays a hitman (referred to as a Mechanic) that seeks revenge after being double-crossed.

The story/plot line is obviously nothing new, but I really enjoyed the movie. Tons of great action, brutal killings, and plenty of sex and nudity Big Grin The movie never tried to make itself more than what it was, a slightly hyped up action flick.

With the exception of Snatch, this is probably the best role I've seen Statham in.

It doesn't hit theaters until June of 2013, but the studio has given us a peek at Henry Cavill as the new Superman. I am not sure about the costume, I know they want to have it look different from the other films and this does that while also having it look familiar enough to those who know what the iconic hero is supposed to look like.

Still, the material looks off and the colors are muted as they were for "Superman Returns".

I would like to see more pictures and hopefully this movie will do the character proud. I liked "Superman Returns" but I longed for more super action.

About 10 years ago, Lisa and I, inspired by the re-release of the deluxe edition of Supergirl, wondered what a deluxe treatment of another truly bad film "The Keep" would look like.

This was the result.

For those that have read The Dark at the End and would like to discuss it in detail, post away. For those who have not read it and don't want spoilers do NOT read any farther. You've been warned.

DARY! I love NPH, especially when he hosts the Tony Awards. And Brooke Sheilds is hilarious!

I was at the Devo concert last night at the Denver County Fair. (I'll let that statement process for a moment.)

Ok, back to the post. The lead-in act was the "Itchy-O Marching Band." If the Septimus Lodge sponsored a marching band for folks in their 20's, this would be it. Strangely, I'd come up with the connection before I found out the name of the group. I think it was the strange seven pointed star they use as a logo, with the all-in-black-masks, weird lights, and the mini Chinese dragon. Or maybe the girl in the cape that crawled around on the floor.

Vimeo has a fair clip of them in action.

While in high school (mid-90s), I read a collection of short stories. One story in the book was "Buckets" by F. Paul Wilson.

Another story was about two mechanics, working on a feed grinding machine at a hog farm. One guy is inside the machine and the other guy turns it on, not realizing the first guy is in it. Literally half-mangled, the guy inside the grinder convinces the other guy that the pain is wonderous, and to turn it back on so he can finish himself. For some reason, the other guy also goes into the grinder while it's on to kill himself (maybe to feel the wonderous pain himself??).

Those are the only two stories in the book I remember, though there were others. I don't think they were all by Mr. Wilson, but I could be wrong on that. I was recently asked about the book, and would like to find the title so I can buy it and enjoy it again.

If anyone can help me, I'd truly appreciate it! Thanks! Smile
