I was at the Devo concert last night at the Denver County Fair. (I'll let that statement process for a moment.)

Ok, back to the post. The lead-in act was the "Itchy-O Marching Band." If the Septimus Lodge sponsored a marching band for folks in their 20's, this would be it. Strangely, I'd come up with the connection before I found out the name of the group. I think it was the strange seven pointed star they use as a logo, with the all-in-black-masks, weird lights, and the mini Chinese dragon. Or maybe the girl in the cape that crawled around on the floor.

Vimeo has a fair clip of them in action.

While in high school (mid-90s), I read a collection of short stories. One story in the book was "Buckets" by F. Paul Wilson.

Another story was about two mechanics, working on a feed grinding machine at a hog farm. One guy is inside the machine and the other guy turns it on, not realizing the first guy is in it. Literally half-mangled, the guy inside the grinder convinces the other guy that the pain is wonderous, and to turn it back on so he can finish himself. For some reason, the other guy also goes into the grinder while it's on to kill himself (maybe to feel the wonderous pain himself??).

Those are the only two stories in the book I remember, though there were others. I don't think they were all by Mr. Wilson, but I could be wrong on that. I was recently asked about the book, and would like to find the title so I can buy it and enjoy it again.

If anyone can help me, I'd truly appreciate it! Thanks! Smile

Has anyone seen this show?

Since last week I'm watching this TV series on cable channel. This...is...AMAZING show and I was stunned! It looks like "LOST" + "Flashforward".

The Event is an emotional, high-octane conspiracy thriller. Sean Walker is a man who investigates the mysterious disappearance of his fiance, Leila, and begins to expose the biggest cover-up in U.S. history.

I want to know about this show, so I checked this on imdb, but I found this show has been cancelled! Why?!?!

Not sure if this has been posted before, but I came across this on the series of tubes that make up the interwebs. Someone at Cracked.com answers some tough questions about Repairman Jack.

Not really, but from another movie so bad it was good. This is one of my favorite bad films...this and Chopping Mall were another bunch of movies I rented repeatedly from the video store.

So I've got an amazon gift card that I'll be purchasing The Dark At The End With and wanted to make sure I was contributing toward it getting on the bestseller list so when should I place my order?

I was reading about this in Aftershock & Others and I remember playing this on SciFi Channel's Seeing Ear Theater site that shut down around 2007.

It was a pretty good story and interesting interactive audiobook. I wonder what happened to all the files they had on their site. It would be neat to get the rights to it and post it somewhere, but I hear that Sci-Fi likes money, a lot of it.

Did anyone else play this back in the day?

Did anyone ever buy The Keep board game. I've been looking for a used copy. Haven't found one yet.

I'm currently watching this series through for the third time, and it struck me that it gets better with rewatching, a rare thing for TV comedy. There's a ton of stuff they sneak in there that you can't possibly catch without multiple viewings. They will, for example, make jokes about things that haven't happened yet on the show, so it's about ten times funnier when you catch it the second or third time around. The show also has dozens of sight gags that you would never notice until you've watched it at least a few times.

I would say the downfall of this series (besides Fox shuffling it around and putting it on random hiatus, because Fox is sucky) was the fact that the humor builds throughout the series, so that each episode is ten times funnier if you've seen the one before it. A casual viewer would probably not find it very funny at all because you really, really need to pay attention and watch the episodes in order. This is de rigeur with continuing dramas, but not so much with comedy.

I honestly think this is one of the smartest TV shows ever produced. It's a shame it didn't last a little longer.
