This British show is about to begin on BBC America I believe, I recommend it whole-heartedly. A six part series, the first couple of episodes are good, but a little slow, but episode 3 onwards it becomes something quite special.

Check it out.

Has been cast to play the villian in the new JJ Abrams Star Trek movie. This is good news to me because I really enjoyed Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes in the new Sherlock and I'm glad that the rumor abouts Benecio Del Toro playing Khan are false.

Now the question is what character will he play? I'd love to see a brand new character emerge since the possibilities in Star Trek are endless, but a lot of people and I'm tending to agree at this point think he will be Q (even though technically Q is not a villian).

Any thoughts?

I'm reading the newest Koontz book...77 Shadow Street when lo and behold....Koontz has a creature called a rakshasa as one of it's monsters. It's huge...7 feet tall, 6 fingered and toed....and gray. It's head is bullet shaped and it has lots of teeth and long claws.

I thought I should point this out.....immitation is flattery...right?

My publisher has just informed me for the next five days or so, The Ghost Toucher will be free for Kindle. For anyone who hasn't read it, you can get yours here.

Byte Magazine just asked me to do a series of short columns for them on pretty much whatever I want as long as it intersects with the computer/techie world. I don't know how long I'll last before I run out of things to say, but I think I'll give it a shot. I'm looking for an angle to make it more interesting than just another iCult guy typing blah-blah-blah.

Back in October I began an idea on a whim. Several short stories that all take place in the same apartment. Throughout different times and maybe reealities the stories all take place. The original plan was to write 30 stories and put them together in a book. Well, in looking at my timeline for the year, I realized I don't have the time to commit to 22 more stories. I have a few projects I want to have completed by certain times and I either have to put this on the back burner or put out what I have done now.

I'm hoping to have Tales from an Apartment done in the next month or two and available on the usual e-sites. More soon!

I'm starting and sticking this thread as an update on what's going on in the shop.

MIDNIGHT MASS - all states of the 1st edition of the novella have sold out.

QUICK FIXES - the second run of signed copies of the trade paperback has sold out.

Is there anything anyone's interested in? We have bins of books. If there's enough interest in something, we'll see if we can dig it out.

I have been working with my good friend, film historian Philip J. Riley (who was once a Rocker in the great old 60's and 70's: a close friend of Jim Morrison and The Doors, and got to jam with Jimi Hendrix-doing THE FLYING DUTCHMAN OVERTURE on guitars!!!) in bringing back a series of out of film tie-in books. What really shocks me still is how many great books just seemed to have dropped out of sight!!!
I was on amazon.com and stumbled, actually falling flat on my ever aging face, upon the novel "THE STRANGE WORLD OF PLANET X" by Rene Ray. Now, for an old crabapple like myself, with a skull filled with trivia, this was the book that inspired the British movie of the same name (called "COSMIC MONSTERS"in the U.S.) starring Forrest Tucker. Bliss!!!
How many gems have you found at a fleamarket or house sale you would like to post here and share???

I watched this last night and while it is far from perfect, it is certainly one of the better horror/comedies of recent vintage. A group of partying college co-eds venture into the backwoods of West Virginny only to encounter two of the nicest hillbillies you could ever meet. A misunderstanding later the two groups are at war. Plenty of gore, laughs and Alan Tudyk like you've never seen him before make for a fun movie if you're into this sort of thing.
