Okay, according to the latest FPW newsletter, a new development in the "Repairman Jack - The Movie" saga is that the project is 'building steam again after a young, big-name star has said he wants to be Repairman Jack' and that he's 26.

Based on this info, and thanks to the ever-helpful IMDB, I did some detective work to determine, at least in my mind, some possibilities of who FPW might be referring to.

He's 26 so that rules out John Cusack (38), Edward Burns (36), Ed Norton (35), and many other "older" names previously suggested.

He's 26 so he was born late in 1977 or in 1978. So, who's a "big-name star" born in that period? Here's what I came up with:

1) James Franco

2) Jason Biggs

3) Joshua Jackson

4) Ethan Embry

5) Topher Grace

6) Josh Hartnett

7) Colin Hanks

(I may have missed some because I didn't recognize their name or skipped over them; it was a LONG list).

Let the speculation begin...

A few days ago, I saw Street of Fire on DVD.

When I was teenager, I saw this movie in theater first. I was Diane Lane fan. That's why I went to see it in theater. After that, I saw it on TV a few times, but it was fifteen or thirteen years ago. So I didn't remember the detail. I saw it again, and I really enjoyed it. My favorite one of reason, it's music and songs!! Ry Cooder's sound are cool and dry. "Never be you" by Laurie Sargent, this writer is Tom petty. and "Tonight is what it means to be young" by Laurie Sargent, this writer is Jim Steinman. What a exciting rock'n roll sounds ! Big Grin

Also, action sequences were brilliant. Biker gangs vs one man. Especially, Willem Dafore and Michael Pare in the last fight scene. This is great!

Music, songs, actors and actress, action......This is Walter Hill's world!!

I finished reading James Patterson's Along Came a Spider yesterday and started Kiss the Girls today. My wife has most of the early books (up through Roses are Red, but she's missing Pop Goes the Weasel). Anyway, she's always said what a poor choice Morgan Freeman was to play Alex Cross in the movies. After finally reading the books, I have to agree. Although he's a fine actor--and did a very good job in the films--he wasn't anything like the Alex Cross character in the books.

I hope the casting of Repairman Jack goes a lot better...

Hi there,

I'm currently working on a website that involves listing and detailing as many classic fictional villains I can think of - and one of those on the top of my list has to be Rasalom/Molasar. I read the majority of the adversary cycle (starting with the Keep) around four or five years back...however I never owned any of the books myself and now that I want to write an entry for Rasalom/Molasar I can't really remember all that much detail about him. The two appearances that stick out in my mind are his incarnation in the Keep and his role in Nightworld - but the details I can remember are too foggy to make a decent enough entry about him.

I know he's this ancient evil entity with immense power, but without the books I can't build up a great picture of him. So it would be great if the people on here could detail him a little more - his origins, his role throughout the adversary cycle etc. Additionally it would be great if people could throw up any memorable quotes about/said by him. Also any ideas on his darkest deed (I figured it was him turning Earth into a Night World) and his finest hour(possibly the same)?

I'll be sure to credit people's input - I just want to do this guy justice, and hopefully anyone who reads about him an interest in the adversary series and the RPJ series.

Also, if anyone has any more suggestions on villains who I should list, please let me know.

Anyway, thanks for your time,

~ Bawp

For anyone who enjoyed Before Sunrise, I highly recommend its sequel Before Sunset. It is full of the intelligent banter I've come to expect from Richard Linklater.

A friend of mine just pointed me to this article:

I thought it was pretty funny. It's especially relevant now that the DVD and CD Commentary are coming out. Someone should write the author of this article to let him know about the CD Commentary (I would, but I can't from the office).

I searched the board for reviews of these two movies and couldn't find any. Whysup? Well, my galfriend worked the polls last night till 8:00 p.m. so I had like five hours to kill before I picked her up. I went to see The Grudge. I did not care for this movie. Maybe I have to see the other parts to enjoy it, but as a standalone, it lacked an involving storyline and tried to make up for this by going "Boo!" every five minutes. I noticed many teens in the audience covering their ears whenever the movie music stopped, because they knew that a loud blast of music would soon sound as soon as one of the ghosts appeared. By midway in the movie, I was covering my ears too. All the best parts of the movie can be seen in the trailer. Maybe the Japanese version "Ju-On" is better--I will give it a try, but I won't be seeing Grudge II.

The movie Saw, on the other hand (or foot in this instance), was very good (not great, mind you, but good). It was a horror whodunnit. And I won't give away the ending, but the ending really made up for all the loose ends at the movie's finale. In this case a Saw II is definitely in order, but I hope they (the Hollywood Greedmeisters) don't turn this into a Friday The 13th-like franchise. The writing would have to be way, way above par to carry this franchise past Saw II. And Hollywood's so hungry for a new Freddy or Jason that they just might squeeze one sequel too many from this nice little thriller.
See Saw! (Sorry, but it had to be said).

Oh, I'm sure you probably figured this out by now. Yes, I did sneak into the second movie. Don't any of you kids try this at home.

I was just wondering, if you do have music in the background, what you readers of RJ are listening to (whilst reading an RJ novel, of course)?

I signed the sig sheets for A Little Beige Book of Nondescript Stories over the weekend at WFC. Shouldn't be long now.
