Has anyone seen this movie?

I saw this movie in thearer, and this evening I saw it on DVD. This is wonderful and touching movie. Directed and written by Sofia Coppola. Performed by Bill Burray and Scarlett Johansson. And most important factor is location.

Tokyo! Cool

Yes, Tokyo. Location is a lot of crowded cities in Tokyo. Shibuya, Akihabara, Shinjuku, Odaiba......I know those cities, of course. But from a foreigner's point of view, it look like different cities. That's awesome and amazing.

Bill Murray as Bob Harris. Bob Harris is movie star, and he visit to Tokyo for take a TV-CM. But he is mid-life crisis, and his actor life is crisis too. Scarlett Johansson as Cherlotte. Cherlotte is photographer's wife. She visit to Tokyo with husband, but she is always alone in hotel's room. When Bob met Cherlotte.......do you know what happen? Wink

No CG, no big star, no hard action. But I like this movie. It make me comfortable and agreeable. That reason is very simple. There is only man and woman's ties.

Next is my favorite scene.

Premium Fantasy woman: Mr. Kazu sent me, premium fantasy. My stockings. Rip them.

[sounds like "lip them"]

Premium Fantasy woman: Rip my stockings. Yes, please, rip them.

Bob: What?

Premium Fantasy woman: Rip them. HEY! Rip my stocking!

Bob: Hey? Lip them? Lip them? What?

[rolling around on the floor, waving her legs in the air]

Premium Fantasy woman: Oh Mr. Harris! Don't touch me! Mr. Bob Harris! Just rip my stocking!

Hehehe.....you understood what is funny? :p

Anyway, I recommend this movie for all people. Smile

Hey gang, if any of you have been following the discussion about whether there is a reference to Julio's in Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child's latest book Brimstone , well, here's the reply I recieved to my email from Douglas Preston himself:

Dear Jerry,

You certainly are an alert reader, but I'm sorry to say that our bar with dead and dying plants wasn't inspired by the Repairman Jack bar, Julio's. There are, in fact, more than a few bedraggled bars in NYC with dead and dying plants in the window, and it is perhaps these real places that inspired both of us.

I'm a big fan of the Repairman Jack novels myself.

Thanks for the kind words and all best,
Doug

Subject: Reference to Repairman Jack in Brimestone??

Greetings,

Thank you for taking the time to read this email. I hope the subject line caught your attention. I enjoy all your books (both writing together and separately) and have since I read Relic when it was originally published.

I was re-reading Brimstone recently and paused at a very small scene in it. When D'Agosta takes a friend out for a drink, he remembers this little, out of the way place that has dead or dying plants hanging in the window. I am also a huge fan of F. Paul Wilson's and was wondering if your are paying a tribute to him. In his Repairman Jack books, Jack meets potential clients at a bar called Julio's in NYC. It, too, has dead and dying plants hanging in the windows.

I don't suppose you could let me in on this, eh?

Thanks for the time,

Jerry

Spoilers for those Who haven't bought the book yet.

Hi FPW,

Just finished Criss Cross and enjoyed greatly enjoyed it. The Dementalist aspect was fascinating, especially since a similar group exists in the real world. It got me thinking of the episode of Millenium where Jose Chung (portrayed by Charles Nelson Reilly) was investigating the Selfology cult. I read that that real world group pressured Fox and the production company to make changes to the script. Did you experience anything like this with Criss Cross or did you slip in under their thetans?

In any case, well done. Looking forward to the next novel.

Everyone's favorites: Dakota Fanning and Robert DeNiro, not to mention Famke Janssen and Elisabeth Shue.

Has anyone out there read the last dark tower book? i am sure there are quite a few and wanted to see what some of you thought about how it ended. I read it in two days and originally loved it. Now however i feel differently. I feel cheated because i look back on the first four books of the series plus the numerous tie ins and it seems like everything just went crazy all of the sudden for Mr.Kings need to put himself in the damn book. Some publications said it was daring and ambitious but i think its more of boosting his ego. The entire series headed in one direction and than poof out comes wolves of the calla and everything is completely different. We as readers were led to believe by Kings comments and by tie ins that things would be resolved and situations explained. However that is bull because for one Marten, Rolands arch enemy, is disposed of in three pages and never once confronts roland or the katet. Second what marten is, is never explained nor what his motivations are. That really made me upset to have no resolution with the whole Marten vs Roland feud. Third some important chracters like Jack Sawyer were never mentioned. 4th the characters that were brought in didnt play very important roles and just disappear. 5th The Crimson King the big baddie of all King books is reduced to a lunatic with no explanation as to what he is and why he doesnt want the tower to stand. Not a damn thing is explained about him except how he poisoned some servants of his. 6th the battle of the Crimson King vs Roland is pitiful. It's basically roland dodging bombs while the crimson king yells and continues to throw more. One would think that a monstrous and powerful being such as the crimson king would be able to do more than lob bombs but apparently King wanted to end the series real quick and and had him erased leaving his eyes (o the drama). I could go on and on but i am spent and had to get that off my chest as a reader that spent alot of time and money and wound up with very little satifaction in the end.

Just wanted to say howdy! I'll start off right causing trouble! Wink What does FPW mean when he says cowboy punk just before the "Tenth Toe"! BTW, I thought that was good story. I always liked Doc Holliday. As he said, he was quite a character!

I just finished watching this excellent documentary. I eat fast food quite a bit, but hopefully this movie will help me at least curtail that habit somewhat. It is truly frightening. I recommend this movie to anyone who eats any fast food yet knows that it isn't good for him. Especially interesting are the interview with Eric Schlosser, author of Fast Food Nation (which I may have to read now), and the extra feature called The Smoking Fry.... Horrifying!

Hi

I am new to this forum and was shocked to learn that repairman jack is in Nightworld. Is that a series novel or does he just make an appearance in it? Sad to admit I haven't read all the f paul wilson books, but I have read some that do not feature jack.

This next part has nothing to do with the above.

After reading some remarks here about possible stars for a movie, I realized that I had an opinion about it. This may be hard to find but he must be someone who looks both ordinary and quite good looking at the same time, at least on second glance. The thing is he doesn't want anyone to take a second glance.

Having said all this, it's probably impossible. I just hope they don't make another Remo Williams film. That was CRAP, if you pardon my french. However, the guy who played that (who is definitely too old now) would have made a perfect Repairman Jack. That's the type of actor they need.

Also a tv series would probably just turn into another equalizer and no one could ever convince me jack is an equalizer.

In fact I am totally surprised that the author is risking a movie on this series, although generally bad movies do not risk sales of series books, such as the aforementioned Remo Williams or even the multi failed attempts of the Spenser novels.

Not sure why age 26 is a max point but an idea for jack might be the guy who stars in Stargate Atlantis as Major Sheppard.

Wow that was a lot for my first time.
