I watched Wild at Heart last night and must put Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern on my top ten movie couples of all time. Spenser Tracy and Kate Hepburn, Bogey and Hepburn, Bogey and Bacall, Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek, are others I would include (you can figure out the movies they starred in). Any others?

I just finished watching this direct-to-video horror film called Dead Birds. If you're a fan of the horror genre this is a film not to be missed.

Dead Birds tells the story of a group of soldiers in the late 1800's who rob a bank and are on the run. They hold up in an abandoned home for the night only to be terrorized by the demons that live there.

This film actually gave me quite a few jumps. The general atmosphere is good, acting almost top notch, and although there is a bit of violence the movie strives to give general creeps as opposed to reducing itself to gross-out scare tactics.

If you are looking for a well done low budget independent film, I highly recommend you check out Dead Birds. I doubt very much you'll be disappointed.

See it if you must, but I urge you to the see Nine Queens, the movie Criminal remakes, instead. NQ is great, one of the best scam movies ever. I can not imagine anyone who likes RJ not digging it. Criminal is a competent, faithful adaptation, but just didn't have the same spark as the original.

I should mention that NQ is a film from Venezuela and comes with those irritating subtitles, so that may influence your decision.

This question was prompted by another thread.

Are you ADDICTED to F. Paul Wilson's works, any and all of them? Do gotta have 'em? Can't get enough? Get short of breath and dizzy thinking of life without 'em?

Raise your hand or post a note...

(*standing and looking not as contrite as an addict should*)

Hi, my name is Maggers and I'm addicted to FPW. Well, maybe not to him, personally even though he is a really neat guy, but to everything he's ever created, with the exception of his children!

Kenji or anyone else living in Japan or Asia...

Is Steven Seagal big in Asia? He keeps making movies, but they go straight to video here.

This weekend John and I saw a movie he made in 2004 called Into the Sun. About 70% of it was in Japanese and it had no English subtitles! LOL

It was the weirdest thing I've ever seen. Obviously it was made for the Japanese market. So I'm curious, is he popular in Japan?

Call me an anal engineer, but it leapt out at me: someplace in the HC edition Gateways, the (ex) CA firm "Arthur Andersen" gets a mention, except it's been spelt "Anderson" (guess who once got pulled up for making the same mistake ;-) Still time to fix for the mass market edition, or would anyone care?

Just now, I watched this new film's trailer in apple.com. The title is Night Watch.

Wow!! *whistle*, this is awesome! Looks like it took an essence from all excellent movies.

I have a one interest. Below the English title, I found Russian title "NOCHNOI DOZOR".....According to synopsis, "First installment of a trilogy based on the best-selling sci-fi novels of Sergei Lukyanenko entitled Night Watch, Day Watch, and Dusk Watch"

Anyway, check this official site and see the trailer. It has amazing visual.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the ultra-rare "Haunted Earth" is available on Ebay yet again. This is the third time I've seen it posted.

Check it out here.

The series Rescue Me just finished last night. I really enjoyed this new show, and the ending was perfect. Denis Leary's world weary act is prevalent in every scene and made it something different to anything else on tv.

Gave up on Point Pleasant. I was trying to hang on, then I heard it got cancelled and I quickly dropped it, as did the network showing it. They're replacing it with a double helping of the new series of Scrubs. Can't complain about that!

Smallville is beginning to grate. I still enjoy watching it, but something seems to be missing, and I think it's Lois. They introduced this great character, sparks flew, humorous situations ensued, and then she goes away. I understand she'll be back, so I'll keep watching.

24 has reached the end of part one, they do it every season. All threats averted but still about twelve hours left. Curious to see where it goes, it's been good so far, except the stupid schizophrenic daughter storyline. What's that all about? (rhetorical question)

The OC, Desperate Housewives, ER and Las Vegas are guilty pleasures, but my big confession is not one of these.

My big confession:
It is a show that I believe is pretty successful in the US. It has reached at least a 5th season and I think it will make the magic number seven.

In the UK it is unknown. To my knowledge, never been shown on our screens, until now.

I first caught an episode whilst on vacation in Mexico, and thought the dialogue was great. Good characters and it hit my sense of humour exactly.

I found it on the Hallmark channel, a channel I normally avoid like the plague, whilst sitting at home ill one day. I was just hopping, as you do, and the name flashed on the on screen menu. And lo and behold, it was the beginning of season one, and they were showing them every day of the week at the same time (that's daytime tv for you). With Sky+ (tivo), this is Nirvana. So I set it up, it records every day and is waiting for me when I get home. I'm addicted to a show on the Hallmark channel, ye gads.

Into season 2, and I'm still enjoying every minute of it.

Can you guess what it is yet?

I confess, I am addicted to the Gilmore Girls. I've said it, banish me, black ball me, tar and feather me, I can keep it in no longer.

Don't hate me, we all have our vices.

I just finished rereading "Deep As the Marrow." I loved it the first time, and LOVED IT even more the second time around. Good golly, I think I have to say this is my favorite non-RJ book, beating "Black Wind" and "Sims." I love the Pine Barrens. I want more and more about the Pine Barrens. I want a whole book to take place there.

And Poppy! What a heroine! When I grow up I'd like to be the kind of woman that Poppy is. Straight up and true. What a gal.

All of the characters are so richly drawn. The drama and excitement are nearly unbearable. (I'm not giving anything away here, the basic plot is described on the back flap.) The backdrop of the story, the resounding shock waves created by the President's plan to legalize drugs, is provocative, thoughtfully laid out and resonates with FPW's themes in other novels, like "An Enemy of the State." Fascinating!

As I mentioned in the Compendium thread, there are numerous ties to other novels, "Implant" foremost among them. The ties are so much fun to run across, especially since I've been rereading so many FPW books in sequence.

What great fun. Thanks, Paul, you provide me with endless hours of marvelous entertainment. Most of all, it's a thrill to be able to drop you a line and thank you directly.
