An HBO film, directed by Billy Crystal.

I don't know what *61 will mean to the younger members here, but for someone like me who watched the papers every day to see who was ahead in the home run race between Mantle and Maris, it was a time machine.

I was a Dodger fan as a kid, but I remember rooting for the Mick. In the film I was rooting for Maris.

I think anyone who loves (or, as in my case, once loved) baseball will love this film.

Has somebody ever seen The Outer Limits?

A few days ago I bought DVD box-set. It's very classical TV series. SFX, makeup, studio set were very cheap, but I liked it. Especially, actors are great. Martin Sheen, Matin Landau(Ed Wood), Robert Culp(The Greatest American Hero), Donald Pleasence(Helloween), Edward Mulhare(Knight Rider), Bruce Dern(Silent Running)....

All stories are science fiction(Alien's invasion, Mutants, Wars, Virus, Time travel, another dimension...). It's similar to The Twilight Zone, but The Outer Limits has sometimes preachy.

This drama is about 40 years ago, but this is not old to me. I've never seen it before, so this is new to me.

I think Charlotte Rampling and Alice Krige would fit the bill quite nicely

I saw a screening of this last night. Not for everyone (about as dark and violent and sexy as can be and still keep an "R") but definitely for me.

I've got nothing to liken it to because I've never seen anything like it. (And most likely neither have you.)

Someone brought up Lost this morning but the thread seems to have disappeared with the recent database merger.

Anyway, curious if anyone noticed the book Sawyer was reading: A Wrinkle in Time. Do you think this is forshadowing?

Stay away from this movie!!! Written and directed by the director of Akira, considered by many to be the turning point of anime in the States, Steamboy is nothing but pretty pictures. The characters are boring, the story non-existent, and a plot so... so... *sigh*

As my friend stated, "I could shit better crap." This takes the top spot on my list of absolutely horrible movies ranking up there with Operation Condor and Battlefield Earth, the only other two movies I've walked out of.

If anyone was thinking of seeing Steamboy think long and hard about the choice. It's two hours you'll never get back.

I just read on UpcomingMovies.com that M. Night Shyamalan is gearing up for his next film, titled Lady in the Water. What Greg Dean Schmitz of that site says about it is, "This is the story of a superintendent of an apartment complex in Philadelphia who discovers a sea nymph living in the building's swimming pool. " I'm already enthralled. As usual, I can't wait...I'm not in the least bit picky: I love his work, period. This will be something awesome.

Coming July 21st, 2006!

Amazing!
CD have had all that time to get it right and they manage TWO f*** ups on the very first page within the Author's Note.

1 - In the 3rd paragraph the number 11 mysteriously appears
2 - In the last paragraph we're treated to an amazing fact: FPW began writing in the year 19702 (then jumped in his TARDIS and came back to share his gifts among us Wink What a guy!!)
