The series Rescue Me just finished last night. I really enjoyed this new show, and the ending was perfect. Denis Leary's world weary act is prevalent in every scene and made it something different to anything else on tv.

Gave up on Point Pleasant. I was trying to hang on, then I heard it got cancelled and I quickly dropped it, as did the network showing it. They're replacing it with a double helping of the new series of Scrubs. Can't complain about that!

Smallville is beginning to grate. I still enjoy watching it, but something seems to be missing, and I think it's Lois. They introduced this great character, sparks flew, humorous situations ensued, and then she goes away. I understand she'll be back, so I'll keep watching.

24 has reached the end of part one, they do it every season. All threats averted but still about twelve hours left. Curious to see where it goes, it's been good so far, except the stupid schizophrenic daughter storyline. What's that all about? (rhetorical question)

The OC, Desperate Housewives, ER and Las Vegas are guilty pleasures, but my big confession is not one of these.

My big confession:
It is a show that I believe is pretty successful in the US. It has reached at least a 5th season and I think it will make the magic number seven.

In the UK it is unknown. To my knowledge, never been shown on our screens, until now.

I first caught an episode whilst on vacation in Mexico, and thought the dialogue was great. Good characters and it hit my sense of humour exactly.

I found it on the Hallmark channel, a channel I normally avoid like the plague, whilst sitting at home ill one day. I was just hopping, as you do, and the name flashed on the on screen menu. And lo and behold, it was the beginning of season one, and they were showing them every day of the week at the same time (that's daytime tv for you). With Sky+ (tivo), this is Nirvana. So I set it up, it records every day and is waiting for me when I get home. I'm addicted to a show on the Hallmark channel, ye gads.

Into season 2, and I'm still enjoying every minute of it.

Can you guess what it is yet?

I confess, I am addicted to the Gilmore Girls. I've said it, banish me, black ball me, tar and feather me, I can keep it in no longer.

Don't hate me, we all have our vices.

I just finished rereading "Deep As the Marrow." I loved it the first time, and LOVED IT even more the second time around. Good golly, I think I have to say this is my favorite non-RJ book, beating "Black Wind" and "Sims." I love the Pine Barrens. I want more and more about the Pine Barrens. I want a whole book to take place there.

And Poppy! What a heroine! When I grow up I'd like to be the kind of woman that Poppy is. Straight up and true. What a gal.

All of the characters are so richly drawn. The drama and excitement are nearly unbearable. (I'm not giving anything away here, the basic plot is described on the back flap.) The backdrop of the story, the resounding shock waves created by the President's plan to legalize drugs, is provocative, thoughtfully laid out and resonates with FPW's themes in other novels, like "An Enemy of the State." Fascinating!

As I mentioned in the Compendium thread, there are numerous ties to other novels, "Implant" foremost among them. The ties are so much fun to run across, especially since I've been rereading so many FPW books in sequence.

What great fun. Thanks, Paul, you provide me with endless hours of marvelous entertainment. Most of all, it's a thrill to be able to drop you a line and thank you directly.

I've only read The Tomb, All The Rage and Hosts, but I haven't seen mention where Jack learned the violent skills of his trade.

Guy is able to handle a couple of military goons; how'd he get good enough to do that?

Will this be revealed in the books I've missed?

Producers offer Daniel Craig a 3-film Bond deal.

I've never heard of this guy before. Maybe that is a good thing.

Read A Day in the Life during my breaks and lunch at work today. Really, really enjoyed it. It was like a one hour episode of a Repairman Jack TV series! Also enjoyed The Barrens yesterday (had to finish it after work, the story was a little longer). Now I guess I'll go back to the beginning and start on The Monroe Triptych... Big Grin

easily in my top 3 of RJ books. Big fan of dad's backstory, and the development of he and jack's relationship...albeit, i'll admit, i got nervous as i thought FPW was going to kill him off like Jack's sister!

I know, this book has been out for a while, but i go thru them so quickly, I try to spread them out. And no, I haven't read Nightworld, no matter how good it is...I don't want to read the ending yet.

Looking forward to Crisscross, after I finish Black Wind and The Select.

This movie, also known as Lupin III, is a blast. If you like, hell even if you don't, anime or caper flicks this cine has much to offer.

Has anyone else watached this show? Yesterday was the second episode and it was a lot better than the first. It's not as funny as I was hoping, but I had a couple good laughs. There's just not very many sitcoms I like right now. Scrubs cracks me up, but that's about it. Anyway, anybody else have thoughts?

Hey all,

This is my first post here on the forums, so forgive me if this has already been discussed.

My first introduction to FPW, and more specifically to Repairman Jack came in the mid 90's. I was working a second job at one of those one hour photo counters in a department store. As you can imagine, I had a lot of downtime, and as I am a voracious reader who tears through anywhere from 3-5 books a week, I took advantage of that time to absorb even more.
Well, one particularly slow day, I found myself in the odd position of not having a book with me, so I sauntered over to the paperback rack, and after about 5 minutes of perusing the choices, my hand fell upon a copy of "The Tomb". I read the blurb on the back cover and was instantly intrigued with the concept. So after purchasing my new find, I returned to my post amidst the photo processing fumes, leaned back against the counter and cracked that puppy open.
Before even finishing the first page I was hooked. By the end of my shift I was three quarters of the way through the book. I was so deeply involved in the story that when it came time to clock out and go home, I simply took the book out to the break area, sat down and didn't budge until I had finished it.
Instantly, I had to have more Jack. Heading back to the paperback rack I was disappointed to find that there were no other FPW books in attendance. So, off to the local bookstore chain I went. The store only had two FPW books in stock at that time. One was "The Keep". I remembered seeing the movie in the 80's, and being fascinated by the concept of Nazis and vampires, but didn't remember much about it beyond that. The other book they had in stock was to my delight, "Legacies", another Repairman Jack novel! I greedly grabbed them both up and made my way home for a weekend of F Paul Wilson goodness.
Anyway, that is how I first became aware of FPW and the man we affectionately call Jack. Since that Time I have read every FPW book I can get my hands on. Some of them several times. And of course, I find myself eagerly awaiting each new installment in Jack's story.
So with that said, I am delighted to be amongst fellow connoisseurs and paragons of good taste. I look forward to meeting and chatting with many of you in the future. And if you haven't done so already, please feel free to share your story of how you discoverd FPW's work, and our friend Jack. In fact, even if you have shared that story before, share it again now. Heck, I'm new here. Humor me.

Peace
