As most are aware, "Conspiracies" was the first RJ book published by Gauntlet Press as a limited edition. Since then we've had six new titles. Being a perfectionist I don't like having an unmatchable book such as the Tor edition of "Legacies" in my collection.

So my question (and this may be more for Paul to answer but others can try to explain this to me) is why hasn't Gaunlet published a limited edition of "Legacies"? Granted, it wouldn't be a first edition but I would love to have this RJ book match the others.

Explanation anyone?

I found this. Gosh....gimme a break! Rolleyes

http://www.killermovies.com/j/jurassicpark4/

First one was great. I prefer the book, though.

The Lost World disappointed me. But book was good.

Jurassic Park III was terrible awful.

Yeah, I can predict Jurassic Park 4.

Kathleen Kennedy a producer of the Jurassic Park movies talked to SCI FI Wire about Jurassic Park 4, where she revealed that the first draft of the script has been completed by novelist William Monahan,

She also says that the movie will no longer be on an island like the previous movies. "Let's just say it takes place someplace else," she said. "It will not be green. We will not go back to the jungle."

There is no director currently attached to the project. Steven Spielberg and Kennedy will act as producers, with plans for a 2005 release.

I predict...."REJECT!"

I just saw this and liked it more than I thought I would. I'm not a huge fan of "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory." In fact, it took me over 30 years to finally see it; I'd avoided it all that time. I could never get through the first scene with all the grandparents in one bed. In "Willy Wonka" it creeped me out, but in "Charlie" it did not.

The Oompa Loompas were truly bizarre; they totally freaked out a friend of mine. I did enjoy all their musical numbers, though.

I'd heard that Johnny Depp wasn't very good. I disagree; I thought he was fine, though it's not one of his best performances.

It is decidedly a Tim Burton film, with all the darkness and weirdness that he brings.

I saw it with adults and kids. The kids all loved it; the adults were split.

Throughout the movie, I kept thinking what a great ride it will make someday at a huge theme park. Mark my words, there will be a "Charile and The Chocolate Factory" ride somewhere.

Anyone mind if I start a thread for those who have any FPW works that (for whatever possible reason) they want to sell. I'm spending a lot of time looking for stuff to add to my collection, and this could be a neat avenue to increase.

What's your first movie in theater?

Mine is "King Kong" in 1976. I was 7 at that time, but I still remember that day. My mother took me to theater. Of course, I was kid, so I didn't know about movie. Moreover it was Hollywood movie. And, when movie has begun, I was surprised. It was Japanese subtitles version. I couldn't read subtitles so fast (well, actually, almost). Rolleyes

But once King Kong appeared in the screen, I saw it like one in a dream. I was stunned to huge King Kong. As I said, I was 7 at that time, so I didn't know it was SFX. To me that was real huge Gorilla.

At that last scene, when King Kong fell out from a building I cried to his death. I truly believed he "died". I still remember I cried.

After that movie, I became moviegoer, of course. Smile

So.....what's your first movie in theater? Let's talk about it, if you remember it.

Hey folks, I haven't used the forum since the format was changed years ago. I used to post often as twell76.
Well I've finally started to take my book collection a little more seriously. I'm looking for the First Trade Hardcover Edition of Reborn. I need one with a perfect dust jacket. I've got the Signed Numbered First Edition, but the dj has some chipping and I need to replace it. If anyone has one for sale at a reasonable price let me know.
btw. I just got my numbered copy of Infernal and am working through it now. Just keep em comin FPW!!

Last night I watched Hotel, the latest from Mike Figgis. He enters David Lynch territory with mixed results. The film is about a cast and crew in Venice shooting a dogma film and the very strange Hotel they are staying in. The ensemble has Salma Hayek, David Schwimmer, Julian Sands, Saffron Burrows(make a great Gia, IMO), and Rhys Ifans with a few cameos tossed in. John Malkovich's scene is disgusting as biting into a hot dog, only to discover it has veins.

I must say that I'm beginning to become a big Ifans fan. He truly disappears into his roles.

Not really sure what to make of Figgis. he seems to be one of those directors who make movies I know are competent, but I can't seem to warm up to.

Schwimmer handled himself well in a much different role than were accustomed to seeing him in and it got me to thinking about the film careers of the Friends cast. Most of them have managed to shed their TV image in the indie scene, and it made wonder if they are the most successful cast of TV actors to make the transition to film?

I cannot stress this enough, absolutely DO NOT READ THIS unless you have read "Infernal" through to the very end.

You have been warned.

Most people know that I've been around for a little while now and am a HUGE F. Paul Wilson fan. That being said, I was a little disappointed with "Infernal". I don't expect each RJ outing to be non-stop action. I really liked the turn with this one being more dialogue focused. The things I had problems with are as follows:

There were no real "fix-its". The one he does is briefly explained, almost botched, and then that's it.

The terrorist plot that book-ends the story just seemed strange to me. I kept looking for that "bigger picture" in the whole thing and it just didn't seem to click. Jack went through a bunch of possibilities, including the hit being aimed directly at him and only because he went to get the car was he spared. I could just sense Big R having a hand in it, but it never materialized. I don't know whether it was a political statement about the whole stupidity of terrorism or if Big R really did pull the strings. Maybe this was intentional, but as a political statement it just showed how meeting violence with violence is just stupid in general. Nobody gained anything from it. The only thing that makes sense is it was done to take Jack's father from him and thus make him suffer. In this sense it really does feel like Big R should have been behind it. I would have liked to see a touch of the Otherness, just a whiff, to give that idea solidity.

The character of Tom didn't jell for me. He was an absolute sleaze-ball from beginning to near the end. Just the sort of person you love to hate. In this sense, I feel he was a little over the top. It's established pretty early the lengths of selfishness he is willing to go to, so all the extra POV scenes with him seemed like padding to really nail the fact home what a complete waste of space he is. It was too much, I found myself not caring anymore what he thought about anything. So when the change of heart came at the end, it didn't have any impact at all for me.

Which brings us to the end of the story. The stain can be transferred not once, not twice, but three times. Jack is screwed. I felt the hopelessness that Gia, Vicky, and Abe felt. How would Jack survive this? Would it be one of the women with the dogs who steps in and somehow sacrifices herself for him, would Charlie somehow interrupt his passage to the "other place" and deliver him back, would he end up in Monroe and somehow have a chance meeting with a certain Dr. Bulmer who at the last second takes his doom away with a power that matches that of the Lilitongue (timing probably isn't right for this, but that would have been kinda cool), or would he not escape it at all? To be honest, the last is what I thought for sure was going to happen. Tom would show up, drug his brother, get all set up to take the stain away by tricking the Lilitongue and .... nothing, it doesn't work. Jack wakes up only to feel himself slipping away and he's gone. The end. Now that would make for some interesting discussions and have fans going nuts to find out where Jack went, and how does he get back?

Most of my "criticism" is merely a fanboys wishful thinking, especially about the end of the story. Overall, I really did enjoy the story although it's not one of my favorites in the Saga.

I wanted to start a discussion on the Alien franchise to see if anyone else here enjoys this series.

The first two films are classics. The original started the template for all monster films since. You know the whole creature-kills-off-everyone-one-at-a-time formula. The second film is a adrenaline pumping thrillfest that ranks as my fave of the series (and fave films of all time).

I may be in a minority but I really dig Alien 3. While the film isn't perfect and takes time to get going it has some nice, moody visuals and a great ending. Foreshadows the great talent of director David Fincher (Seven, Fight Club) to come.

Alien Resurrection has some nice visuals/ concepts (hybrid alien/human), fun moments (the underwater scene) but it never progresses the series or lives up to it's potential. And Winona Ryder is the most unconvincing film robot ever.

If your a fan, I recommend buying the Quadrilogy set as it's got DAYS worth of extra stuff to look at if your big film buff.

FPW should have watched Gang Tapes to help with Charlie and Lyle's dialogue. Talk about shocking, in your face film-making. The movie is told from the perspective of a digital camera that gets car-jacked in the opening scene and through it we are shown the harrowing world of gang bangers. What really struck me was the lack of communication from people who talk so much; language is like a club they bludgeon each other with, no place for introspective discussion there. The saddest scene for me was the pride Alonzo took in finding out he was going to be a father-another baby born into that lifestyle is all the world needs. This is as close to real deal as I'm likely to see-hopefully. The cast of unknowns all come from South Central and have grown up with The Crips vs The Bloods giving the film a real sense of authenticity. A very grim look into a horrifying way of living. I recommend it if you are not faint of heart.
