I just read A Day In The Life, The Wringer and Interlude at Duanes and loved them all. Great stuff from Paul as always. I found a copy of Black Wind and it's on it's way to me.

For myself, I'm just sick and tired of remakes and sex/gore trash flooding the market. The vast work of countless authors untapped by the shlock meisters of Hollywood that are crying out to be filmed or at least televised. Well, here's my wish list and first pick so please add to it...

"MRS. AMSWORTH" E.F. Benson

First published in VISIBLE AND INVISIBLE, London,1920 is a great little vampire story about a small English village haunted by a vampire. I always pictured the great Elsa Lanchester in the title role. Track down a copy and read it-see if you can visualise the great lady in the title role.

I am currently working on a comic version of the subway scene from Hosts. I am trying to be as faithful to the text as possible, and at the moment am designing how I'll draw RJ himself.

He is described as wearing an oversized Jets shirt, with the number 80 on it. Here's where I need help: I know nothing about American football!! I have had no trouble at all finding photo ref of what a Jets shirt looks like, but I just want to check whether or not the number 80 refers to any paticular player? I am thinking of the name that goes on the back. Is the number 80 a famous player's number (who's name I should put on the shirt) or am I free to use my creative license?

Saw this in an email from Gauntlet. Have to say I'm very, very tempted. Thought I'd post it up here for other similarly tempted people.

Fans of the Repairman Jack series can now purchase a portfolio of the cover art of the nine Repairman Jack novels we've published, plus the forthcoming SECRET HISTORIES. They are available for $129 per set (plus postage/insurance).
~ Each portfolio is a set of ten 9.5" x13" plates printed in full color on archival semi-gloss paper.
~ This edition is limited to 52 copies enclosed in a color-printed envelope signed by F. Paul Wilson and the illustrator, Harry O. Morris.
~ The plates reproduce the full wraparound images without overlying text, and covers nine years of Repairman Jack's adventures from 1999 to 2007, plus the forthcoming cover art for SECRET HISTORIES.
~ Future plates will be available at $20-25 per plate to keep your set complete (and will be available to only those who purchase the portfolio.)

Go see NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN. Notice to all Texans on the board, go see this movie. I had no idea what to expect. I hadn't read the book, nor had I read any reviews. The Coen brothers have done it again. They've adapted a good, solid, moving screenplay . They've created a thriller with more humanity than I'm used to from them, and more inhumanity, too, in the character played by Javier Bardem. Everyone is terrific. Bardem and Josh Brolin are outstanding. I've seen a lot of Josh Brolin lately...IN THE VALLEY OF ELAH, AMERICAN GANGSTER, and now NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN. Even more interesting is the remarkable Tommy Lee Jones, who with just a wiggle of his eyebrows and slight wrinking of his brow can project more than nearly any actor on screen today.

The countryside played a big role, too. Its hardscrabble and vast dun colored vistas are as intimidating as Bardem's psychopathology.

I want to see NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN again. It's rich enough for a second viewing.

A warning: read this thread carefully as you may find out more than you want to about NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN. You may encounter unexpected spoilers.

I enjoyed AMERICAN GANGSTER, but I don't think it's the best movie of the year, as I've heard from some reviewers. It's a terrific and largely unknown story that just begs to be told. Ridley Scott did a wonderful job in creating NYC circa 1968-76, a period I lived through and remember well. The performances are top notch. I'm not fan of Russell Crowe, but he is fabulous here. Denzel Washington just can't be beat. Josh Brolin was mean and menancing and great. The supporting roles are strong, too.

However, at 157 minutes, it's long, and I was aware of its length which is not a good sign. But I wasn't overly bothered by it.

Bloodline Page 193

Back at the Indo- Pak shop he grabbed a window seat and watched the street while listening to a pair of forever-virgin college kids at a nearby table argue whether Spider-Man could beat Wolverine in a fight

Wolverine would kick Spiderman's ass, 'nuff said!

I was just reading the Secret History of the World in the Works part of the site and saw a few stories that were included that I have not read yet. These are Demonsong, The Wringer, and The Peabody Ozymandias Traveling Circus Oddity Emporium. I did notice one the POTCOE that it was sold out and when I checked it out it showed that the Lettered and Autographed and Limited Editions were all sold out and it mentioned that no more would be made. I didn't know if it meant that the book would no longer be printed or if it was just the autographed editions of the book. I was also wondering if this would be coming out in a regular edition. If anybody knows where I can find any of these please lt me know. Thanks.
