Long time reader of F. Paul Wilson, first time posting on here. I actually joined about a year ago, but didn't post too much and soon forgot about it.

I'm currently re-reading the RMJ series, and I can honestly say best series ever.

I'm actually starting to have what I call "Jackmares" because when a book captures me, the theme follows me even in my sleep! I won't go into detail, but there has been only one other book I've read to do that to me (think of me as an avid reader, reading a 500+ page novel in less than a weeks time while working, and going to school)

Sadly I haven't read all the Advasary yet, I haven't had the chance to aquire the last two books.

Ah, enough about me then. I hope all is well, and I look forward to talking to you in the future!

I mentioned in last month's newsletter that I’d written a short piece for the Writers Corner at the Cemetery Dance website. Well, it’s up now. (And as I said before, unlikely to interest non writers)

Looks like only two more episodes left and it is getting intense! The various factions are starting to work togeather and now that Hera is kidnapped by Cylon Boomer (Grace Park), looks like Adama is going to take the now falling apart battlestar on a one-way suicide mission. Great series!

After all the build-up, I still liked it a lot. The casting was good - no big names, but they filled their parts very well, especially Jackie Earle Haley (sp?) as Rorschach and the actor who played Nite-Owl. Silk Spectre is very easy on the eyes. From the pre-release photos, I originally thought the actor who playez Ozymandias was too young and miscast, but I thought he was actually very good. The action sequences are very well done. It very closely follows the book, except (avoiding spoilers here) some changes to the end which I thought worked betterand makes more dramatic sense in context. Good score. It's interesting how many press reviews are negative, saying it follows the book too closely (whereas fanboys are saying it's not close enough) - I thought it was an intelligent adaptation of the graphic novel - I've read some synopses of earlier attempts to adapt the book, and I think it was good that Snyder showed respect for the original material. Some original elements were curtailed (like all the interaction between the newsstand guy and the comic-book reader), but jeez, the movie was long enough they had to cut some stuff out.

I thought it was well-worth the price of my ticket, and was not a wasted afternoon. I'll probably see it a second time. I'll also probably buy the DVD to see the extras (including the animated "Black Freighter" sequence.

I was just thinking, wouldnt it be funny if Vicky asked Jack to go along with him on Bring Your Child to Work day. She would ask "what do you do at work, Jack?" and he can't answer. "Can you take to work with you?", again no answer, just hmmmmmmm. then the big one...."All the other kids get to go and I have to stay at school or watch Mommy paint. I hate that. I get to do that EVERYDAY! Please Jack, let me go with you." Jack replies, "O.K. put on this body armor while I get the black face makeup to put on you.........

anyway.... Wish I had thought of this while talking to Mr/Dr. Wilson in Fort Myers at the book fair. ("Just call me Paul".....hmmm still can't do that, sorry Mr/Dr. Wilson)

This is hysterical, Hitler as a raging Fanboy. If you're a Watchmen fan you Have to see this, or if you've ever been pissed off at a Hollywood adaptation of one of your favorite books. Brilliant.

What type of music do you listen to?

As for me, I sometimes listen to "Tubular Bells" (Tubular Bells 1, 2, and 3, as well as "Orchestral Tubular Bells) They run about 58-63 minutes long, and the music somehow connects with the stories, don't ask me why!

If you have a copy, you have something of a rarity. A couple of days ago a reader pointed out to me that the title was misspelled on the spine ("Emplorium"). I contacted Booksurge and they're fixing it. But they've stopped the presses until it's fixed. All copies ordered after yesterday AM will have the error corrected.

So...you early birds caught a worm.

It got me thinking we have threads for what we're watching at the moment but what about what we're getting excited to see - whats getting you out to the cinema this year.

so far mine are the pretty obvious ones on the whole

If there is a thread on this hilarious movie, I apologize, I couldn't find it.

What a joyful, perfectly rendered stoner movie. It took me back to days long gone. Every time the characters want to get something done, they get stoned first and then, of course, nothing gets done. But it's a life or death situation that doesn't get attended to and the results are hysterical. Even the mastermind evil drug king pin is under the influence of pot and behaves in as silly a fashion as everyone else. Oh what a fabulously silly movie.

Loved it.
