We saw Knowing with Nicholas Cage this evening. Lots of action and one crazy ending.

A time capsule is opened and a letter full of numbers has predicted disasters over the past 50 years
all except for the last 3 predictions/disasters have come true.
The trailers out show 2 disasters...a plane and a train crash. Very realistic and horrifying. But the ending got very chaotic. I kept wishing for the remote.....to stop....rewind...and look at that again.
Worth it if you've nothing better to do.

I havent heard anything in a while. Is Ryan Reynolds still going to be Jack? Is it on schedule? I think Ryan could pull it off, is Paul behind the choice? If this was discussed recently I apologize, I must have missed it.

You're not Tom Cruise fan? I'm not Tom Cruise fan either. But sometimes he starred in some good movies. Valkyrie was one of them, definitely! I enjoyed it. This is really good movie about historical truth by Brian Singer.

The main plot is about "Operation Valkyrie". For assassination of Hitler. I knew that operation's failure by historical truth, but I didn't know how and why they did failure.

Operation Valkyrie is breathlessly thrilling. Christopher McQuarrie's script was perfect. This is historical drama, and good entertainment. Brian Singer and Christopher McQuarrie should make BLACK WIND movie.

Except Tom Cruise, a lot of great actors played in that movie. Kenneth Branagh, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson, Terence Stamp, and.....Eddie Izzard! He didn't play comedic role! Big Grin

Just finished watching it and I just wanted to point out one little thing I loved:

When the fleet is diving into the sun most of the ships were the ships from the original series and they used the original theme (I still love the original theme - but then again, it is my childhood)

First of all I am new here, so hello everyone. I have been a fan since I checked out The Keep from the library years and years ago and have been a fan ever since. Anyhow I have just reread The Keep, Reborn, Reprisal and Nightworld. I love those 4 books altogether and I cant wait to read the new Nightworld in a few years. Anyhow, I noticed when Woerman was killed he was still aware, is that basically the same thing Rasalom did to Danny Gordon, except he could move. The Danny Gordon scenes are the most disturbing I have ever read in any book by the way.

I often think about the episodes of my favorite tv shows that just don't seem to fit the show's format or style, For instance, that nearly dramatic episode on Gilligan's Island where The Hunter stalks Gilligan for bloodsport: Out of place. In Bonanza, I remember the supernatual episode where Little Joe ends up in a haunted town that must relive its massacre until a brave person stands up for the cowardly townsfolk (aptly named Twilight Town). On The Andy Griffith Show, there's the sardonic episode where a city resident passing through Mayberry is forced to stay there after his car breaks down. Through his eyes, the town is surreal. On the Addams Family, there's the poignant episode where the rebel motorcycle-driving punk is conformed to normality by the strange family.

These episodes are oddly out of place in the universe of these tv shows.

I'm trying to collect a bunch of these type of episodes. Any you can think of?

Thanks ahead of time.

Not sure if this has already been posted, but I just thought I'd bring up this pretty good book by Roger Zelazny. It tells the story of a man for hire who lives outside the system. Reminded me a lot of Jack, not necessarily in method or story, just general similarities. Thought some of you guys and gals might be interested.

Also, in the Politcal forum there is a thread about those Fusion Centers and a big point of this book is a computer system that has every bit of info on everyone in the world, well almost everyone. Makes you wonder sometimes about how prophetic these sciene-"fiction" writers can be.

I know that you've been acting as an instructor for a few years now and I'm wondering if you're aware if any of your students have gone on to publish? If so, which ones?

I mentioned Alien Raiders as a low budget winner the other day, and now you've got the perfect companion film for your double feature in Midnight Movie. MM is the best slasher film(not my favorite cup of tea) since Scream IMO. It is the story of a haunted film where anyone viewing becomes an unwanted member of the cast. Again the acting and writing a few notches above from most 'B' fare.

Just finished reading this in He is Legend after reading Matheson's The Distributor. A great story with a special cameo by you-know-who. The story works great with the reader never knowing that it's Repairman Jack in it because it's told from the antagonists point of view like in The Distributor.

On its face, the story seems to have no connections with The Otherness.
But when you consider the kind of work The Distributor does, Jack's desire to know who The Distributor works for and The Distributor telling Jack that Jack would be a good Distributor... I love these little connections.
It's a great short story. Will it find a home in another anthology that is more widely accessible?
