I mentioned Alien Raiders as a low budget winner the other day, and now you've got the perfect companion film for your double feature in Midnight Movie. MM is the best slasher film(not my favorite cup of tea) since Scream IMO. It is the story of a haunted film where anyone viewing becomes an unwanted member of the cast. Again the acting and writing a few notches above from most 'B' fare.

Just finished reading this in He is Legend after reading Matheson's The Distributor. A great story with a special cameo by you-know-who. The story works great with the reader never knowing that it's Repairman Jack in it because it's told from the antagonists point of view like in The Distributor.

On its face, the story seems to have no connections with The Otherness.
But when you consider the kind of work The Distributor does, Jack's desire to know who The Distributor works for and The Distributor telling Jack that Jack would be a good Distributor... I love these little connections.
It's a great short story. Will it find a home in another anthology that is more widely accessible?

Ron Silver, July 2, 1946-March 15, 2009

Actor and longtime political activist Ron Silver died this morning, succumbing to a long battle with cancer, friends of the liberal Democrat-turned-GOP stalwart told The Post.

“Ron Silver died peacefully in his sleep with his family around him this morning,” said Robin Bronk, executive director of the Creative Coalition, which Silver helped create.

“He had been fighting esophageal cancer for two years and his family is making arrangements for a private service.

Hey, Gang.
Don't know if it's important, but the same dealer that was selling all those R J novels has a copy of "Soft and others" for 10 bucks! I noticed that the lowest that I have seen it on "Abebooks" was like 14.95, so even with 3.50 shipping, it's still a good deal! From the looks of the cover, it looks like it's in good condition!

Just thought that I would share that with you all!

I am trying to read through all of FPW's books as they appear in the Secret History of the world and just finished Black Wind (what an amazing story). Next is The Keep but it is unclear if there is a revised edition or not. Can someone let me know if there is one and if it is out in paperback. (I hope this has not been posted before and if so I am sorry for being repetitive.)

Thanks
Debby

I was in a little book store that knows me well and the owner has an illustrated bookplate or (tip sheet - it was not numbered and had no space for numbering) and I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about it

I watch a great many abyssmal to mediocre low budget horror movies to discover the few real gems that are out there and Alien Raiders is one of those gems. Not quite a new classic it is nonetheless an excellent little hostage/horror hybrid-think Dog Day Afternoon meets The Hidden(another gem). The first half of the movie is great as a heavily armed crew take over a small town grocery, then there is a slight lull before a pretty solid conclusion. The acting is better than most 'B' fare as is the writing.

An amazing horror film. (I have to call it "horror" because of the vampire theme, but although there's blood and some violence, there's no gore.) The plot has large holes, but when you come down to it, this is a relationship film between a bullied 12-year old named Oskar and Eli, the strange girl in the next apartment who's not human. A Swedish production, filmed in the cold, white dead of winter, it's visually striking and the most original thing I've seen in a long time. Check out the trailer:

After reading the latest FPW newsletter and waiting as long as I could, I emailed Gauntlet about the shipping of their edition of Legacies, slated to ship in February.

Word from Gauntlet is they hit a small delay, but should be shipping the end of this month.

(Didn't find anything about this upon searching; forgive me if it's been posted already.)

Thanks,
MarcC.
