Forgive me if my talents in searching are inadequate, but I've searched through the forum and didn't find anything regarding the ritual murder in S.H. I was wondering if anyone else noticed that by cutting the arms off at the elbows and sewing them onto the armpits, that makes a four armed figure..... like a kicker man?Wink

"I love Monster Movies and the Cheaper they are-the better they are"-
Frank Zappa (intro to the song "CHEEPNIS" about films like "IT CONQUERED THE WORLD" from ROXY & ELSEWHERE).

Since I've been sick and decided to take the night off from work (the -15 degree weather up here in the Poconos is added to my reason), I've been able to hit this forum while doing my FEAR NO EVIL piece I'm researching for FIR. Well, after hitting the political forum here (with Fox News on the tube), I thought I'd take a break from serious topics and it would be fun to start a Monsters thread of classic (and not so classic) titles I'm sure-even the big guy here- have all seen. I just threw my copy of "THE STRANGE WORLD OF PLANET X" (US title: "COSMIC MONSTERS") to inspire my tired old brain. But first, let's hear from my fellow FPW fans first!!

Last night I played me pal Lloyd a game of chess. Played for our usual million, of course. The game was either man's victory. But Lloyd the Lawyer started talkin' trash. "Mike, I see a mate in 3!" I looked at the board and pondered deeply... No way. I had too much power around me king. And Lloyd couldn't beat my cunning black bishop and my well-positioned knight to put the final cruel hurt down.

"Lloyd, my brother, I don't see it. How 'bout we bet another million?"
"Yes!"
His attack went nowhere. The game devolved into a killing match.
"Yo, Lloyd...it ain't wise to have your king and queen on the same clear rank when I got my rooks doubled."
"JESUS FUCK SHIT!"
"Pay me when you can, my brother..."

I am now six large large to the good with this woodpusher!

I just ran across this wedsite the other day, and it started me to thinking!
enterprisemission.com (And NO, it's not another Star Trek site!)

Every since I was young, I knew that there was a massive space between Mars and Jupiter! And, most people know that there is a giant ring of asteroids, that rotates around the sun, alot of debris, that sometimes hits one or more planets, like the three major sized chunks that collided with Jupiter a few years ago!
What this site is trying to explain is that perhaps this asteroid belt is actually the remains of two planets that collided! The accepted theory is that there was never any other planets in our solar system (as a matter of fact, we just lost a planet! Pluto is no longer a "planet") The accepted theory is that Mars cooled down too quickly after creation, and that is why it will not support life, and the core of Mars is unstable, and substandard, unlike Earth! Both Earth and Mars are tilted off of their axis, with the Earth tilting something like 1200 miles difference between magnetic north, and geographical north pole! Mars also has a tilt just like that. This site suggests that the impact of these two planets had caused the destruction of the astmosphere of Mars, and may have killed off any life that was resident there.
What hit me, was the fact that everyone knows the theory that sometime in the past, a giant comet or asteroid hit the Earth, and killed off all the Dinosaurs. Well, what if both events happened as a result of the impact of these two other planets?
We may have to redefine the historical timeline of Earth!
This site has alot of really good points about the damage to Mars, and the fact that the impact damage that is evident on the surface of Mars appears to have occured BEFORE the planet was tilted!
My thought was perhaps, both planets were tilted as a result of the impacts! It is strange to realize that the Earth and Mars are the only two planets in our solar system that tilt in this manner!

It really gives one pause to think!

Elton John is producing another Jane Austen adaptation. But in this one, a ship with a Predator alien lands nearby and he starts hunting down Austen's characters:

I'm afraid I may get hit by a passing car or contract a fatal disease before this is released.

I saw this movie a few days ago and saw it again less than 48 hours later (which is almost unprecedented for me). And now I'm thinking of seeing it yet again.

I'm aware that I have weird tastes, and I believe that some of the teasing metaphors and possibilities (and that I'm a Gaiman fan) no doubt play a part (as does the lessons I learned to beware those who bear gifts seemingly without reason), but if anyone thinks they might like this movie (and it's a good one to take many kids to, IMO), I'd like to suggest you see it on the big screen first for this reason:

http://www.cinemaverdict.com/2009/02/11/...-coraline/

Quote:Selick is the man responsible for doing most of the hard work on stop-motion films such as The Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride. Most people are quick to give credit to Tim Burton for those films (and Burton’s artistic style certainly defines both), but Selick is the real genius who makes the stop-motion animation process so gorgeous.

I don’t mean to insult Burton when I say I’m glad Selick was able to break away and make Coraline. The tidy dollhouse feeling that permeates most Burton films is swept away here, replaced by a gloriously designed yet very unstable and unpredictable dimension that will fascinate viewers young and old. The stop-motion animation is genuinely jaw-dropping, particularly during a circus performance by some very talented mice. Selick’s visuals breathe vibrant life into Gaiman’s gloriously twisted take on The Chronicles of Narnia, creating a film that manages to be both energetic and eerie

And the 1st time I saw it was from the back, and the 2nd time was almost at the very front. The 2nd was more amazing for visuals, so it made a difference for me sitting closer. I doubt the effect can be recreated on most TV or computer screens. So if you think you might like to see it, I'd recommend seeing it on the big screen (and up toward the front) rather than just waiting for it to come out on dvd.

At the urging of people who should know about these things, I joined. I hope I don't regret this. (Hey, Wendy, I'm following you.)

I remember someone here saying that this book was reprinted, in a short form, from "The Tomb". Is it truely just a reprint, or has it been "Fleshed out", with more chapters that were not in the original novel? I have put off buying a copy of this book for that very reason. Please let me know.
Thanks, Lexx

Just heard Robert Quarrey has died. He was a real gentleman and a down to earth guy. He will be missed.
