Very sad news.

Actor Peter Graves dead of heart attack at 83.

Peter Graves, the tall, stalwart actor likely best known for his portrayal of Jim Phelps, leader of a gang of special agents who battled evil conspirators in the long-running television series "Mission: Impossible," died Sunday.

I really liked Mission Impossible. And his comedic role Captain Oveur in "Airplane!" made me laugh.

RIP, Mr. Graves.

Today I saw The Hurt Locker. I was surprised that nobody mentioned about this movie.

The Hurt Locker is a gripping movie that contains some thrilling sequences. The story is about US Army bomb disposal squad working in Baghdad.

Director Kathryn Bigelow made a perfect war movie in the 21st century like Stanley Kubrick made the Full Metal Jacket. So far, I thought "Near Dark" is her best work, but now "The Hurt Locker" is her best work, definitely. There was no exaggerated music, so it was like a documentary film. Not only action scenes. It was very realistic. Some bomb-blown scenes astonished me, and my butt jumped from the seat.

Perhaps I should say I enjoyed this movie, but I didn't enjoy. This is NOT enjoyable movie.

I loathe actor threads, been here far too long to even entertain them anymore. But, one thing I have been thinking about with regard to the movie should it ever happen is this:

How will the film franchise lead to Nightworld should they ever see the light of day?

the Tomb pretty much stands alone as a complete work as does Legacies, but anything after that ties into the Adversary Cycle which would have to be referenced.

If it is referenced then Rasalom would have to be mentioned and a line drawn somehow to The Keep. Then in Nightworld the supportinc cast would have to be connected to their respective stories "The Touch", "Reborn", "Reprisal", etc.

Seems awfully complicated unless the jack movies will start with The Tomb and build their own story arc outside of The Adversary Cycle which would just be surreal.

Knowing this I don't know how excited I am about the prospect of RJ making it to the screen.

Here is my review for Martin Scorses' "Shutter Island". I have mixed feelings about this one.

Anyone seen this? It's an ultraviolent cartoon set in a futuristic prison where cruelty is a mainstay. And it's funny. The warden is kind of a Willy Wonka type, with a cast of underlings including a yes-man whose head is as long as his body, a floating robot that reminds me of Nimrod from the X-Men cartoon and a female guard who may not have always been a woman. Every episode has inmates being shivved, dismember or killed in any variety of other ways. I stumbled on it by chance via a Wiki search and finally found it in my On-Demand for AT&T. They change the episode every couple weeks. I love them all.

Anyone else watching this series? I am sure the board members in the UK are well ahead of the curve on it but this just started airing on BBCAmerica.

I am enjoying it so far. Pretty standard post-plague wipes out most of humanity stuff but really not too bad.

Has anyone considered the timing of the release of the last RJ book with the end of the Myan Calander??? 2012???? End of the World as we know it?? It seems very very freeky. Maybe there REALLY is a Jack that will save us from this. If not its a great way to sell books.

I watched Look this past weekend and it's a pretty good little thriller. It is unique in that the story is told completely through surveillance cameras. I knew that there are plenty of cameras throughout the country but the sheer amount is staggering and according to the commentary, they used only cameras that are actually found in the places that they used. Definitely worth a look.

I was tooling around on the internet and I read a bit about James Patterson. Apparently he has a 3 inch thick folder full of ideas and he collaborates with other writers because he can't write them all. Do you have a folder of stuff you just don't see yourself getting around to? And if so, do you have any plans to do anything with it?
