My daughter and I had a date for this 2 weeks back. Finally it came on and we enjoyed it, but there was this one weird thing. I have a cold and I think in my physically weakened state I must have been emotionally vulnerable or something because I was on the verge of tearing up at seeing Swiper being thoughtful and considerate.

This may have been asked before but seems though I don't see it in the search I'll ask anyway. Wink

Is there an ETA on the RJ film yet and is it going to be a stand alone or are we going to see a whole series of RJ movies following the cycle of books (I would personally prefer the latter)?

I have a few questions about the series:
  1. Is The Tomb considered canon? Yeah I know the drugs in All The Rage is made from rakosh blood but the novel is pretty different from the more recent RJ books I've read.
  • The novel is much more supernaturally focused than the other books. The newer books always have one subplot that's rooted in reality. In The Tomb, Jack bascially fights the rakoshi the entire book.
  • The Indian guy says Jack was recommended by a guy in the UN, which to me makes Jack seem like he used to work for the government.
  • He takes on a the ship of rakoshi with a flamethrower. Seems out of character compared to his usual MO from the other books.
2. Is the time between The Tomb and Legacies (Wilson published Legacies 14 years after The Tomb) accepted as canon?

3. Is there a Repairman Jack wiki? You know, with info on all the books, characters, timeline, major events, the main plot arc and how all the books connect with eachother, etc. Because that would be really useful for a newcomer to the series.

Do yourself a favor and rent or buy this movie. Sam Rockwell does a terrific job and the writing is crisp and clever. It's an indie film of course, can't tear the big studios away from their remakes...

I just finished Tracy Ullman: State Of The Union and if you're a fan of Tracy's, the show is great. She is a cast of thousands all by herself and her humor is biting no matter who she skewering. My favorites are the African actress who comes to America to adopt a child saving him from a life of obesity and video games and Dina Lohan, self-absorbed mother of Lindsay. She just may be the best impersonator working today.

Hey, I'm new here. Love the RJ series. Started with the Interlude at Duane's short story, then read Bloodlines. I've been hook ever since. I just finished reading the Tomb and am ordering the rest of the series, plus The Keep and Black Wind.

I was just wondering, have any of you read the Jack Reacher series by Lee Child. If you like RJ, you'd definitely like Reacher.A former military police man, who roams the US, a loner, with no ties to "officaldom" (as RJ would put it), he oftens finds himself in situtation that require him to use his skills. Smart, strong, excellent in brawling and gunplay, he has a strong sense of justice and always tries to do things in the most low-tech way possible.

Last night the Madison Gamblers had movie night. Mitch's turn. We watched Ali vs. Holmes. Truly sad. Ali had =nothing left=, but he convinced himself, at the age of 38 (ancient for a boxer) he could beat his former sparring partner. I watched the bout in Brockport. He had me convinced too.

Twice, during the "fight", Larry Holmes looked at the ref--"Please stop this."

The Ali who stood over a prone Sonny Liston roaring, "Get up, chump! This thing ain't even started good yet!" (You know the photo.) That guy was gone.

Mitch is a tennis athlete. And he understood it completely. "Mike, you don't look in the mirror. You look at your past. You think you're still the same guy."

Holmes said later, "I did not want to hurt him. He gave me my chance. I owe everything to Ali. I did not want to hurt him."

I can't recall anyone mentioning this little gem of a dramedy so I'll do it. Away We Go is a gem of a dramedy. An expectant couple go on a journey visiting relatives and friends to determine where the best place for them to start their family will be. John Krasinski and Maya Rudolph make a great couple and the supporting cast is excellent. A low key charmer for sure.
