I stopped by my local Borders yesterday, made my way to the horror section and was pleasantly surprised to see that a staffer had selected FPW as a recommendation. They provide a little tag and this one read "Repairman Jack Rocks! The Tomb is the first book in the series." I'm going to see if I can figure out who it is.

I just picked up this Korean flick from my library after watching previews to "The Eclipse" a so-so pseudo horror flick from the UK (found while requesting "Eclipse"- the third installment to the vampire franchise). "The Eclipse" was disappointing but I'm glad I watched those previews. I have to find time to watch it on my own because my wife dislikes movies with subtitles.

But it's about an older woman whose son is convicted of murder and she is determined to prove his innocence, no matter what. From the preview it seems as though she gets shamed for what her son was convicted of by her community and has to go through some degree of turning to the seedier side of where ever she is in order to investigate.

I'm excited to see this movie. It's either really good or crappy but with a really good editor.

OK, this has been done in previous years, but there are new folks out there and some of us older folk can't remember what we wrote way back when.

Last night Liam and I watched "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol," which has been a favorite of mine since childhood. My little brother and I absolutely loved it. Well, Liam was underwhelmed and the slicked up new copy I had (via Japan) was really orange. Nevertheless, I still sang along and clapped like an 11 year old, which was how old I was when I first saw it.

I also love the old "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer," with the dentist/elf and the Island of Misfit Toys.

My favorite version of "A Christmas Carol" is the one with Alistair Sims as Scrooge. We'll watch that on Christmas Eve.

Bill Murray's "Scrooged" is on my list, and I've seen "White Christmas" about a million times ("Sisters, sisters, there were never such devoted sisters.." that song gets in my head as soon as I think of that movie).

What are your Christmas favorites or your family's favorite shows to watch this time of year?

This evening I saw new movie, "TRON Legacy".

Definitely this is one of impressive movies in 2010. Trust me, if you liked 1st movie, you'll love it! I guarantee it. Wink

But if you disliked 1st movie....well, forget about it! Tron Legacy is better than 1st. Fantastic CGI effect, an exciting action sequence, and Jeff Bridges. Grid battle scenes were most excellent.

Oh, and don't forget to see it in I-MAX 3-D.

I'm pretty sure this show has been mentioned in other threads but I thought I'd start one anyway. Hung stars Thomas Jane as a high school teacher/coach who finds himself down on his luck who must make some money now so he decides to become a male escort. He enlists the help of Jane Adams as his pimp and is juggling twin teenagers and his ex-wife. Overall the show is pretty entertaining. The acting and writing are solid but it is not on par with the best cable series.
