Fans of the excellent YA 'HUNGER GAMES' trilogy by Suzanne Collins, prepare to rant and/or rejoice. The first of three movies begins filming soon with an expected release in about a year.

Many important roles have already been cast. You can see who has been chosen here at EW.com.

I like most of the casting so far, though I'm a little doubtful on the choices for Gale and Peeta. The choice for Rue, on the other hand, is nearly perfection itself - and will be perfect as long as her acting is good. Can't wait to see who will play Haymitch.

The good thing is that the director is working very closely with the author in selecting the cast and adapting the story for film. At least I hope that's good news. I know I'll see the movie and I really don't want it ruining this fabulous story for me. Crossing my fingers already.

Hey everybody, fpw's collection of RJ stories, Quick Fixes is already out as an ebook. I found it on the smashwords.com website foe $2.99.
http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/54788

I would recommend that iPad users download it as a Kindle file. There is an ePub option that works with the iBooks app, but the formatting is pretty messed up.

Stories included are:
1-A Day in the Life
2-The Last Rakosh
3-Home Repairs
4-The Long Way Home (Finally!!!)Smile
5-The Wringer
6-Interlude at Duane's
7-Do-Gooder
8-Piney Power

BTW, this is my first post here but I've been a fan of fpw's books for almost 20 years.

Rutger Hauer stars in the role of a lifetime! :p

This started out as a fake trailer in Grindhouse like Machete. So there's not much story but there's lots of blood a graphic violence. Including
decapitations, incinerating a school bus full of kids to disco music and someone getting their hand cut off and stabbing another person with the bone sticking out of the bloody stump.
I enjoyed it, it even has a weapon building montage near the end reminiscent of the end of Evil Dead 2.

Just don't watch it if you expect anything more than silly gore and Rutger Hauer giving an excellent portrayal of a hobo.

I've noticed that shows like the original Lost In Space and Star Trek and other such shows from the 60s tended to show a lot of respect and trust for authority.

But recently I've seen a lot of 70s movies and I've noticed a trend of not only lacking respect for authority but in rebelling against it. It doesn't matter if it's Close Encounters of the Third Kind or Smokey and the Bandit the scriptwriting took a radical turn. And then I recall Star Wars came out with glorified rebels, too.

And recalling other '70s flicks I've seen even when it makes a hero of a cop it's usually a vigilante who bucks his superiors.

TV and movies are said to be a reflection of society and that reflection seemed to morph a lot in just 10 years (or less). I'm curious about this change. What made such a change? Was it that Watergate, the loss of Vietnam, and things like that seriously undermined respect for authority?

Still, from what I've seen of 70s flicks it seems to lack the paranoia of authority in a lot of 90s shows & flicks.

Anyway, I'd be curious as to any insight anyone could provide. Thanks. Smile

I recently reread "Hosts", and I have a question for the good Doctor Wilson:
If Jack and his sister Kate could be infected by a small portion of the infected person's blood, why didn't Jack think that perhaps his blood, since it had antibodies to fight the "Otherness" virus, would kill the virus in Kate's body. Since she was basically facing a death sentence, being controlled by the hive, anything would be better than submission.

I have seen the medical community sit by and watch people with AIDS, or cancer, just waste away, since the AMA won't allow any doctors to "think outside the box", and just use drugs to make the patient confortable, and allow them to die in a "dignified manner"! There is nothing dignified about allowing a hideous virus like AIDS, or cancer, eat a human from the inside out! The AMA would rather let people die, than let anyone experiment with any "unapproved" drugs or procedures, like the one explained in the book.

BTW: is that a real procedure? I found it fantastic, in the treatment of tumors.

The only things I need to know about the show is that it is created by David Simon, features a heavy dose of New Orleans music and Season 1 is being rerun in its entirety over the next three nights on HBO prior to the premiere of Season 2 this weekend. Can't wait.

Just wanted to mention it, Justified is probably the best show on TV right now. It's on Wednesday nights at 10 ET on FX. Hate to see people missing out on a good thing.

I watched this with the wife and its a pretty entertaining comramedy starring Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin. Streep and Baldwin played divorcees who reconnect at their son's graduation while Streep also develops a relationship with Martin. It is a bit more sophisticated than most comedies these days and worth a watch.

This was a much better movie than I was expecting. Robert Duvall, once again, gives a stellar performance. But when I saw Bill Murray's name in the credits, I was expecting at least a partial comedy. Bill has his moments that are funny, but he put on a great performance also. (Maybe his best.) I loved it.

This evening I saw "Sucker Punch".

Ah......well, what can I say about this movie? It's girl's action flick like Charlie's Angel. Exciting? Yes. Silly? Yes! Because that's entertainment movie! Actually I enjoyed it. :p

Another one interesting reason I enjoyed was Scott Glenn as Wiseman. He appeared in one girl's daydream and said:"If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything".
