I am re-reading the Jack books in light of having just finished the Adversary Cycle, in order to tie up any cross references I might have missed the first time. I again noticed an error that I had noticed but forgotten about after reading Infernal for the first time. When Jack and Tom find the lilitongue in its chest and bring it aboard the boat, Jack, feeling uneasy about the object they found, asks Tom how something that weighs in the neighborhood of 50 pounds can float like it did.

The chest is described as a cube approximately 2 feet on a side, therefore having a volume of around 8 cubic feet. Water weighs around 65 pounds per cubic foot. So the weight of the water the chest displaces is in the neighborhood of 500 pounds. So a 50 pound object of that size actually would float like a cork. Jack must have been having a bad day I guess to have made such an error.

I want to order "The Touch" from the Barnes and Noble website, but I want to make sure it is the revised copy. Does anyone know if it is the new and revised copy?

There's an ARC of The Dark at the End up for sale on EBay. Anyone know when the limited is due out? Gotta be soon right?

I forgot to mention I saw this last Tuesday. Greeeeeeeat comedy. I wouldn't call it a chick flick, but if you insist, it's the greatest chick flick ever. Kristen Wiig is the best friend of the bride-to-be, but her life is a shambles in the aftermath of losing her business to the Great Recession (and her boyfriend too) and has resorted to a 'relationship' with a man who all but refers to her as a booty call and working in a jewelry store.

After being asked by her best friend (Maya Rudolph) to be her maid of honor she's happy for her, but at the same time it highlights how much of a wreck her own life is. Add to that her best friend has a wealthy new friend who is openly competitive about wanting to take helm as maid of honor. There are so many hilarious scenes, but paramount is when the ladies try on the dresses. All I can say is wait until Maya Rudolph runs across the street.

Highly, highly, highly recommended. Our options were this or The Hangover II. I have no regrets I saw this instead and I loved the first Hangover movie.

The picture below is the cul-de-sac under the East 77th Street overpass on the FDR Drive in Manhattan. It is the place where a certain nemesis of Jack left his heart, so to speak. As I passed by on my walks by the East River, I always thought of FPW chosing that particular spot to place that particular heart-stopping event.

Well, that little nook under the bridge on the right side of the picture is no more. The bridge is closed for repairs and they've already taken apart that area.

Time marches on, even for fictional characters.

Well, I just got done reading "Conspiracies" for the 5th time, and I was wondering, and wanted to ask the crowd here, since his last name was never mentioned, nor the last name of his brother Tom, nor his father, if he did have a last name, what do you think it would be? I mean logically, considering that he is a WASP, perhaps having English/Scots/Irish and German background, or French or Dutch. Things like that. What would be a GREAT last name for Jack?

X-Men: First Class was a great movie overall. Of course, not being a kid that grew up reading the comics I am not sure if all the mutants are in line with the canon and its timeline. If not, then I am sure the diehards fans would take issue, like they do so often.

There were some nuiances throughout the film that I found annoying, like Charles' "gesture" for example. Also, it seemed all the mutants on Charles' side with the exception of Raven and Erik were just fillers (even though I know Alex and Hank were their for a 'purpose'). The other ones...no idea who they were and why they were there. None of what they did really changed the course of the plot at all.

But Overall, it was great and fun to watch. This movie resolidified by belief that Erik is one of the badasses mutants of all (this is the movies I'm talking about, remember). Also the cameo was cool as well and when that scene started I had a hope and a feeling that cameo would happen and it did!

See X-Men: First Class if you liked the first two. I still think the first X-Men was the best, but FC is second best.

I've been wondering for a while now if the gaijin katana would have been able to harm or kill the Fhinntmanchca in ground zero.

Im still working on finishing Black Wind right now, so if something in that story answers this, feel free to call me out for the newbie i am.

Also, this is my first post!

How is the world did this guy become an A-list actor? He's horrible. Every movie I've seen him in was horrid.

I just watched The Green Hornet today and I swear it was nothing but a chance for Seth Rogan to swear as much as possible. What a terrible choice to play The Green Hornet...and the guy that played Kato wasn't any better.

Not to mention the movie was atrocious. I mean, I didn't understand the whole slow-motion, zomming in on weapons and changing colors thing. Was that from the original show?

I got the movie from Redbox last night and even though I only payed $1 I still feel ripped off.

I'll never watch another movie with Seth Rogan again. He's just too bad and I'd rather spend an hour and a half sticking sharpened sticks under my fingernails then watch another movie with this half-wit, talentless hack ever again. And WTF is up with his teeth?!?!?! AAARRRGGGHHHHH!!

Ok rant over. Anyone else feel the same? Or different?

just got done reading Fatal Error about 5 minutes ago and at the very bottom of page 324 of the Tor hc i think i noticed a little mistake:

"None of them had thought they'd ever be warm again, but scrambled eggs and coffee -- hot chocolate in Vicky's case -- had worked wonders."

if i remember right, Vicky is allergic to chocolate.
please correct me if i'm wrong.
