just got done reading Fatal Error about 5 minutes ago and at the very bottom of page 324 of the Tor hc i think i noticed a little mistake:

"None of them had thought they'd ever be warm again, but scrambled eggs and coffee -- hot chocolate in Vicky's case -- had worked wonders."

if i remember right, Vicky is allergic to chocolate.
please correct me if i'm wrong.

I seem to recall you're right, but I can't quote the reference.

In the Tomb, she wants one of the tainted chocolates, I think they were Black Magic.

She smells them, but resists urge to eat one (I think, it's a while since I re read Tomb)

It is The Tomb. If I remember correctly, Vickie even flashes back to a previous allergic reaction she had when she ate a piece of chocolate.

To the OP, good catch and welcome to the board.

I recognized this too when I read Fatal error, BUT, I just came to the conclusion that the place where they got the hot chocolate is cheap and used carob instead of real cocoa.

Why else would Jack and Gia allow the poor girl to drink from death's cup?

CRISSCROSS originally had a goof where Vicky is depicted as eating chocolate, which was fixed in later editions thanks to the keen eyes of readers: http://www.repairmanjack.com/forum/showthread.php?t=235

This will probably have to be fixed at some point. Parents of kids with a food allergy are very careful.

I know this is beside the point, here, but I just wanted to throw it out there. My wife is allergic to wheat. Not gluten, but wheat! And a bunch of other things so I know that allergies can be weird and very specific, and that when people think it's a chocolate allergy, it's most likely an allergy to nuts or lactose or some other ingredient. So, a soy milk cup of cocoa made with pure cocoa would probably be unharmful to Vicky, unlike those chocolates from The Tomb.
