Dan Curtis passed away on Mar 27. 2006. I would run home after school every day when I was in junior high, not wanting to miss the day's installment.

For those of you too young to have missed out on this, Dark Shadows[I] was a gothhic soap opera incorporating all the classics: Frankenstein, Dracula, Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde, Jayne Eyre, Wuthering Heights, The Werewolf, The Turn of the Screw and even The Cthulhu Mythos. DS also was the first television show to introduce and explore alternate universes, years before Star Trek and others.

There was also a side story where Barnabas Collins (the vampire) was captured and held prisoner by a previously unsuccessful author, tapping (interviewing) him for ideas for his books. Sounds familiar....

Mr. Curtis produced the 2 Kolchak movies, but not directly involved with the short-lived series [I]The Night Stalker

As I was packing up my Sandman comics to loan to another unsuspecting victim, I noticed that that the intro for Preludes and Nocturnes was written by FPW, a fact I had forgotten. In it, he has a passage about the effects of good horror:

Anybody can splatter you with blood and other precious bodily fluids. But they wash off, don't they? Just like mud. Just like spilled food and drink. Wash right off your skin without leaving a trace of their passing. Not the good stuff, though. Good horror gets past the skin. It seeps through and insinuates its way into the tissues, invades the circulation, spreads to all the vital organs, contaminates the nervous system, taking up residence behind the eyes so that nothing looks quite the same again, ever.

Hello All,
My name is John and I was first introduced to F. Paul Wilson this past summer. I picked up Midnight Mass at a local store and could not put it down. Since I finished that my wife bought me all of the Repairman Jack novels she could find me on Amazon. So far Ive read: Conspiracies, All The Rage, Hosts, The Hanted Air and I have just started Legacies. Im still waiting for The Tomb... I know, I read them all out of order! It doenst matter to me though, because I have enjoyed these books immensely. My question about a possible story cross reference is as follows: POSSIBLE SPOILERS

In the novel The Haunted Air, Tara mentions towards the end of the book that the Tau crosses that line the mysterious stones werent from a church, but mor of a prison. At the end of my paperback version of The Haunted Air, there is a teaser for Midnight Mass... My question is could there be a tie between the two? Is F. Paul hinting the crosses were a prison for a vampire(s)? Now the crosses have been removed the vampire(s) can be freed to start their world domination? Or am I just reading into this waaaay too much? In any event, I have loved all of these books, and if Dr. Wilson reads these messages, you're the man! Keep 'em coming!!! Thank you.

Hi:

Newbie here. I produced an interactive movie and put it on-line for general feedback about the genre. My partner and I are interested in developing other interactive movie content as part of a new personlized entertainment and marketing company that we are starting (we each have 15 years in the advertising and/or interactive media dicsiplines.

A year ago on this site there was a reference to the "Bombmeister" project that Interfilm shot but did not market. That footage appears to be in the hands of fpw...the moderator. How can we get in touch?

FYI, the interactive movie -- if you're interested in viewing -- is at http://www.interactive-film.com It's called "The Remake" and you're the executive producer in charge of remaking....'Casablanca.' Go ahead and fill out the feedback form, too.

I can't say enough good things about this movie!
Man, where to begin? Basically it's a story of a young couple in love in a small town in Texas. Jamie King plays " Baby" who wants to go to California to become a soap star and Joshua Jackson plays "Earl Crest", Her boyfriend/ fiance/step brother that actually likes the small town life. It gets crazy when you add the dim-witted cousin that gets them all in big trouble with a drug cartel and an excon who helped him rob them (and who also has a personal grudge against Earl) screw up their plans for the big city.

Great performances by all and enough action and hillarity to fill in any gaps.

I'll give it 5 Lone Stars!

I'm new to this board, so please forgive me if this has already been asked.

I have read both the Adversary Cycle and the Repairman Jack novels. I am rereading the Adversary Cycle now to get a better understanding of the theology of this world.

In the Adversary Cycle you learned that there was a first age of man where two forces battled for Earth. In the RJ novels you learn they are battling for a lot more than our planet. The Adversary/Otherness is evil (but not Satan, more a god of chaos?). The Ally opposes the otherness, but is not necessarily good (god of order?). In the RJ books we meet a third power, Mother (Mother Earth, I suppose?), who is more interested in the fate of Earth than the Ally. Glaeken is the champion for the Ally, while Jack is the/a champion for Mother. Is this why Jack couldn't be the champion in Nightworld? Because he was already Mother's champion? Does Mother factor at all into the rewrite of Nightworld coming out?

This will be short. I was underwhelmed by "Inside Man." I wanted to like it. It's not bad. It's just that it's not that good. Denzel Washington is terrific, as always. I found Jodie Foster to be annoying and plastic, but then, that's what her role called for. The movie just wasn't satisfying. It lacked something though I'm not sure what, maybe a good middle and end.

Aside:
The theater at which I saw the film often has technical difficulties. The music was off this time. Music was not playing under every scene. When it came time for the music to come up, it did so at a slow speed. It sounded like a 45 rpm record played at 33-1/3 speed. Draggy and distracting. The voices were OK, it was only the music. After a few seconds it got up to speed. It happened again and again. I let the manager know and got a free ticket. But at that theater, you always take your chances on just how well you'll actually see or hear the film.

Just now I saw very unique film, "One point O" on DVD.

One day, computer programer Simon noticed strange box was left in his room. Sender is unknown. He opened the box, but it was empty. He threw away it. But day after day, the box arrived in his room. Then after that, he noticed his neighbours dying one after another....

Okay, I must stop spoiler at here. I think I spoke too much. Anyway this is one of the disturbing movies like I've never seen before. I felt it like a Kafka meet David Lynch. Still, I couldn't get all answers of mysteries. At least, I can say two things.

1, "Do NOT open the sender unknown box".

2, "Go to the rental store, check this movie. It won't disappoint you"

Taken from YouTube.com:

"Heat Vision and Jack was created as a 1999 pilot for Fox. Written by Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab, directed by Ben Stiller, this series was passed over by Fox despite critical acclaim from those who've been lucky enough to see it.

The 30 minute pilot is about an astronaut (played by Jack Black) with a medical secret who is on the run from the evil Ron Silver and the rest of NASA, with the help of a talking motorcycle called Heat Vision (voiced by Owen Wilson)."

It's pretty entertaining (if you can get past that idiot Ben Stiller).

If you want to watch the pilot click here.

Did anyone catch this new show that premired after Lost last night? It was pretty good. I don't know if seeing the evidence at the beginning of the show made any difference but it was still cool
