Anyone else see this? I never read the original comic book it was based on, but just watched the film with my two boys. The oldest (12 years old), is interested in pulp-era heroes and is working his way through the Bantam Doc Savage reprints, along with some reprints of The Shadow, The Spider, and The Avenger. We've been watching a bunch of 30s era pulp- and comic-oriented films - Doc Savage, The Phantom, Indiana Jones. I really enjoyed the Rocketeer - it stayed just the right side of camp (when Doc Savage went way too far over.) Good cast (Jennifer Connelly, Alan Arkin, Terry O'Quinn as Howard Hughes, Timothy Dalton as an Errol-Flynnish villain, and a henchman patterned on grade-Z horror star Rondo Hatton..nazis, gangsters, good special effects, recreations of 1930s-era architecture...fun movie.

One of FPW's latest Twitter entries mentions a 22 word piece of "hint fiction" (also called "Flash Fiction"). It is essentially, minimalist approach to writing fiction, in which brevity, a minimal word count, is the key. It's not a form I'm familiar with, but apparently it's not new; FPW mentions Hemingway's piece: "For sale: baby shoes, never worn."

For everyone else, if you are unfamiliar (like I was) Wikipedia has an article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flash_fiction

My questions:
1 - When do we get to see the 22 word piece of fiction?
2 - Any intention of compiling this minimalist approach into a -- say, oh I don't know -- a triffids story?

Don't worry, I'll keep them all at the bottom. Great movie. I was surprised McG could do it considering the only thing I know of him is "Charlie's Angels". It's absolutely nothing like the first two films and not like the third one, either. I don't just mean a different story line, it just felt like something entirely different. From the film stock (heard an interview with McG and he said they used like three times more silver in this than in normal movie film). But the way the movie moved, it was a visual feast.

I don't think I need to retell the story, at least I hope we're all relatively familiar. It's 2018 and John Connor is a soldier in the resistance. After barely surviving an attack on his squadron he quickly ascends the ranks. But the future isn't what his mother told him. Things are different. Like Marcus Wright, a man who was executed in 2003, but is somehow alive in 2018. Kyle Reese is
captured by Skynet
and Connor
must break into the pens to save him
. But can he trust this information from Wright?

To address the rumors leaked on the internet. No, John
doesn't die in the end and have his skin ripped off and put on Wright's exoskeleton
. But yes,
Arnold Schwarzenegger's face is placed on Roland Kickinger's head to bring back the T-800
. And he looks dang young too.

My two plotholes: near the end when Marcus
removes the chip from his brain.
I don't think
it would be placed somewhere where it could just be ripped out by hand
. And considering Wright has
a human heart how do the surgeon's know Connor's body won't reject it
?

But it's an excellent 4th entry into the franchise and a great kickoff to a new Terminator trilogy. I hope they don't wait too long to produce the next one.

OK, I'm going to have nightmares most likely. Frankly it was obvious what the brother of the dead girl would do. But the very very end - holy crap! What is THAT all about?

Tom Hanks's back! As Robert Langdon. Yes, it's new movie.....

"Angels & Demons"

Today I saw "Angels & Demons". It was surprisingly good and better than "The Da Vinci Code". "The Da Vinci Code" was mystery with some unbelievable unrealistic conspiracies. But "Angels & Demons" was simply thriller and horror. It's entertainment. Some bloody scenes were in this movie, though.

If you like "The Da Vinci Code", you'll enjoy this movie more. If you don't like "The Da Vinci Code"....., well, no problem. As I said, it was better than "The Da Vinci Code".

It was great to see the last two "Jack" novels get the unabridged audio treatment.

I was hoping that we could start petitioning Forge to release the back list on unabridged audio as well.

There are probably a lot of people like me who spend a lot time in the car and would enjoy being able to take "Jack" with them.

Am I alone here?
