Raimi's return to horror is well worth seeing, but alas, it's no Evil Dead II. He uses many of the same techniques from that movie, but Alison Lohman is no Bruce Campbell. This film is more serious and only ventures into humor a few times. It features one crazy gypsy lady who steals the show.

Today was the opening day, so I saw Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Just one word: "Swell". See? As I said "No spoilers". Big Grin

Okay, I want to say more. "T.F.:RotF" had high quality CGI and spectacle action scenes. They were amazing. A lot of robots were there, and their speedy moves surprised me. But storyline and characters were poor ( I don't like Shia LaBeouf as Sam. Moreover, I don't like Sam's parents. They irritated me! ).

Well, it's Michael Bay's destructive movie as usual. If you liked first film, and if 2 hours 30 min doesn't annoy you, you'll enjoy it more.

I ordered Ground Zero from Gauntlet and thought they were shipping in June. Anyone have an idea when they might start shipping?

Thanks!

I just finished the first and second (chronologically) books. Great read and very tough to put down.

I love the politics, and the series should definitely be required reading in schools today. La Nague is one of my new heroes. If only he were here we might get this mess we have straightened out.

Can't wait to start Healer. I don't expect it to last long.

What do you call a Restructurist when they've done all their damage and pretty much finished restructuring?

Hey all, I'm a newly-minted RJ fan! I've read all the books up to Infernal and am now about 50 pages into Harbingers. Can't say enough good things about the books, and am eagerly awaiting the conclusion of the series. Although in a way I'm not, because then there will be no more...

I'm a 36-year old libertarian native New Yorker living in Canberra, Australia. I work as a boutique manager and when i'm not at work, I enjoy reading, perfumery, politics, classical music, and baking when I have the energy. I like some things that RJ hates, like chai tea and opera.

Next time I go back to NYC to visit the folks, I plan to put together a RJ Tour for my husband (i.e the tunnel where Jack fought off the mugger, the apartment where Gia lives, the approximate location of Julio's, etc). He's the one who turned me on to FPW in the first place. If anyone else wants to join the tour, I'll let you know when I'll be in town and we can have a partySmile

See you on the boards!

June, July, and August in Japan, new movies are coming soon. Transformer:Revenge Of The Fallen, Knowing, new Harry Potter movie, G.I.Joe, Night At The Museum 2, etc...

But I really want to see these new movies.

Shutter Island is based on the novel by Denis Lehane. His another one, "Mystic River" was masterpiece work by Clint Eastwood. I read "Shutter Island" a long time ago(not so long ago?), it was spooky story and I liked it a lot. It's 4th film by Scorsese and Dicaprio. Judging from the trailer, it sounds pretty good.

Based on the novel by Cormac McCarthy’s “The Road”. The father and son who's living in dark catastrophic world.

This is exactly Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes! Big Grin I can't wait!

Look at Bruce Willis's new hair style! The movie is pretty weird, but his hair style is more weird. :xd:

Which movie are you waiting?

Ive been reading the Nightworld series. I am currently about 3/4 of the way through Reborn and I have a question/problem.

My problem is that my local library doesnt have Nightworld even though it has the rest of the series. Ive also been periodically searching Half Priced Books, but no luck.

So, Im looking online. My question is 2 parts. A) Wasnt there a revision of Nightworld published? and if so B) how can I tell which is which? Ive seen a lot of paperback copies that have a picture of a castle and "Night World" in orange.

I'd love to get a snazzy copy from Borderlands, but its out of my price range currently.

Any advice, guys?

Also, Im not sure the ediquette on this. If it is in poor taste to come to an author's forum and ask about buying used, then Im sorry. No offense to FPW. Love ya, man.

Now, I know that everyone has been looking for RJ on EBOOKS, and after over a year of searching, I finally got the whole series up to "By the Sword" downloaded off of a torrent! It took THREE weeks, since there was only 4 people seeding the blasted thing, and I had to search around after I got it downloaded, and I had to go through a large hassle just to get it unzipped and paste it into a PDF format, but I got it done!
The torrent was a "10,000 Scifi and horror" books type of torrent, and it had some other books by Ben Bova and Ellison, but none by Arthur C. Clark or Ray Bradbury, which is what I wanted. It had a ton of books by people that I never heard of, but I kept them in zipped format in my Ebooks folder! Now, I'll have something to read in my old age!
There wasn't any other F. Paul Wilson novels, like "The Touch" or "Nightworld", so I have to keep looking. I have both the hardcover and paperback editions of the RJ series, and I just wanted to have these as backups in case a fire destroys my storage unit, or my house, or both! And I can always get them from the library, if I lose everything I have backed up, even though my library doesn't have "Reborn", not even a listing in their systems! And I sure as HELL was not going to donate MY copies! hehehehe.
Anyway, I know how some people feel about Ebooks, but there is another side to that. I wanted to get some mystery novels I have in print to be backed up on PDF in my computer, and didn't want to spend 2 or 3 hours PER BOOK scanning them, so I had to pay 5.00 for one book, 7.50 for the second book, and 11.00 for the third book, just to download them into the NEW digital PDF format, which is similar to the LIT format, you cannot copy the text to anything, and you cannot convert the text to any other format, so that is good protection for the author (s). The paperbacks were only 4.95 at Borders, and I thought that at 3 hours or so, my time would be worth ALOT more than that. So I would be happy just paying the fees and saving alot of time that I really cannot afford to waste scanning books!

Anyway, just wanted to let you people know that they are "out there"

Disney finally released this on DVD, after years of waiting, in a very nice set that has the original 3-part series that aired on "The Wonderful World of Disney" in 1964, as well as the feature film that was edited from the 3-part series. My kids and I have been watching one episode a night (including the original introductions by Walt Disney), and they enjoy them as much as I did back when I first saw them as a kid. (Well, the first two episodes, anyway - the last episode coincided with the first appearance of the Beatles on American TV on the Ed Sullivan show, and my older sister pulled seniority and controlled the only TV in the house. I had to wait for reruns to finally see it.)

What's very cool, looking at it 45-odd years later is that:

a) It wasn't dumbed down for kids - very smart dialog and stylish acting. You wouldn't see something like this done for kids nowadays.

b) Patrick McGoohan remains the icon of cool for me that he was throughout my youth. He's genuinely scary as the Scarecrow, too, with that raspy voice that contrasts so sharply with McGoohan's naturally debonair voice as the Vicar of Dymchurch - He's like a Colonial-era Batman.

c) For a "Disney" movie in 1964, it's fairly violent - shootings, faked hangings, beatings - all accepted in action movies for kids back then.

And d) This is one of the most anti-tax films ever made! The Scarecrow and his masked men spend most of the movie fighting tax collectors and helping the poor avoid unjust taxes. Maybe those attending the Tea Parties should start dressing like the Scarecrow!

Wow, long time no post for me here.

Just curious if anyone else has watched Everything Is Illuminated. I just recieved it from Netflix and absolutely loved this movie (enough that I plan on buying my own copy to share with friends).

Anyhow, the movie is about a young jewish boy from America (Elijah Wood) who travels to the Ukraine to search for his grandfather's past. He hires out a service to take him around to find where his grandfather grew up, only to find that no one seems to know the location anymore. There is a lot of humor at the beginning due to the language barriers between Wood and the Grandfather of his escorts, who has his grandson translate for him (Eugene Hutz of the band Gogol Bordello).
