Im not all too sure what campie means, its a term that i hear when i walk into movie stores. whenever i ask them too order a rare film they say that they are "campie as hell". judging by the films i assume the proper defition would be something around the lines as a film that is cheaply made with a nobody cast, director and the film never makes it to theatres. i hope this help.

CAMPY:

a: something so outrageously artificial, affected, inappropriate, or out-of-date as to be considered amusing

b: a style or mode of personal or creative expression that is absurdly exaggerated and often fuses elements of high and popular culture
(Websters dictionary)

adj: refers to intentionally exaggerated thematic or genre elements, especially in television and motion picture mediums. "Campy" style willfully over-emphasizes certain elements of the genre or theme, creating an almost self-satirical milieu. Some of the most popular examples include the James Bond films (exaggeration of espionage activities) and the original Batman series starring Adam West.
(Urban dictionary.)

I'd say the Evil Dead series was campy. I still loved them. I even saw pt 2 on the big screen.
