If I understand correctly, REPRISAL is out of print except for the Borderlands Press "luxury model" (LOL).

Since REBORN and THE TOUCH recently received trade paperback publications, will REPRISAL follow? It's the one book in The Adversary Cycle that I have not finished reading. And I'd love to read the updated text which accounts for cell phones.

Great movie. Terrible title. Adult jokes. Clever and witty. Kids won't understand most of the visual jests or play on words. But they'll love the frenetic pace. In short, a young boy who worships Tesla and Edison dreams of becoming a great inventor. He accidentally invents a satelite that converts water/clouds into food. However, the satelite becomes satient as does the food. Yep, the food is about to eat the people of earth and only our young invenor can stop it. Nice story, I thought.

But the jokes are the reason to see this movie. Forget the goofy title. I laughed out loud. One gag I can share: When it rains ice cream, the kids make snow balls from the various flavors. The reporter points out to the young inventor that his pet monkey is throwing chocolate snowballs. A look askance from the inventor makes the reporter realize that isn't chocolate.

Some of the voices are: Bruse Campbell, James Caan, Anna Faris, Al Roker, Mister T, Benjamin Bratt, and Neal Patrick Harris (as the monkey). Believe me, you'll love this movie. It may look like it's for kids in the trailers, but the humor will hook the adults.

AC

P.S. No, I was not paid to like this movie. It was raining out so I decided to make this movie a part of a double feature after watching Surrogates. I figured I'd leave once the movie got corny. It never did. I laughed out loud throughout and grinned all the way home in the rain.

hey! I hate to be nit-picky, but opus omega is not Latin for "last work"; at least the omega part isn't, it's Greek. If you wanted Latin it'd be opus ultima...and in Greek it'd be εργασία ωμέγα, or ergasia omega...

A cross between Stepford Wives and Blade Runner, Surrogates is that special sci-fi treat that one expects from good story-telling and not cgi. It brings to mind some of the best episodes of TheTwilght Zone and The Outer Limits, where the stories made you forget, nay, overlook the cheap special effects.

In a future where people stay at home while their robotic counterparts go out and live their lives, a murder of a surrogate robot also kills its host, something that is not supposed to happen. Bruce Willis plays a cop whose surrogate is destroyed during the murder investigation; thus, Willis must continue his investigation in human form. Here is where the story takes off, as Wtillis' shabby overweight character is surrounded by perfect people, think botox androids (one great line I can't help sharing: as Willis interviews a beautiful attorney/surrogate, he tells her, "For all I know, I'm speaking to a bald fat man naked in front of his computer with his dick hanging." The attorney shuts up as if Willis has hit a nerve.)

Go see this movie for the story, not for the special effects which are used sparingly and effectively. This story is in the hands of some great acting. I will be adding this to my bloated dvd collection.

I had an interesting dream last night. I was in NYC and next thing you know there's a sudden zombie attack. However it happened, there were lots of them and they were eating people.

I ducked into a storefront for shelter, along with a handful of other people I didn't know... much to the surprise of the shopkeep, his best friend and his pet parakeet.

That's right. I'd ducked into Isher Sporting Goods.

Apparently in the dream I didn't know anything about RJ or Abe or any of it.

They started getting into the store after a bit of hushed arguing amongst the people in the shop. Jack ended up saying something like "Abe, I think it's time we went to the basement", while using an already bent lacrosse stick to bash in a zombies head. Abe hesitated for a minute, said something I can't remember and agreed.

We went down into the basement and Abe armed everybody. My recollection of the dream ends about there.

Funny thing is, I remember EXACTLY what Abe looked like, but have no recollection of Jacks face.

So my question is, in an event like this, where all hell has broken loose, would Abe reveal his secret stash, if you will, to save a bunch of strangers and himself?

I was browsing a used book store and came across this treasure, one copy. Since I hadn't read it and always get FPW's work when I find it, I picked it up only to be denied. They didn't take plastic, and that was all I had. I put it back and went about my day, stopping first at an ATM and then another used book store. I asked for medical thrillers and lo... same book, one copy. I consider this a lucky day.

Seeing as my "Western" thread generated good response and to acknowledge the 10th anniversary of The Iron Giant, I figured I'd give the animated flicks some props...
This list can include both cgi and hand drawn flicks.

1) The Iron Giant (This one's in my top 10 favorite movies..period)
2) The Secret of Nimh (80's classic. Great story and animation)
3) Toy Story 1 (For the ground that it broke)
4) Wall-E (I just always feel happy after I watch this movie)
5) Batman: Sub-Zero (Great story and cgi/drawn combo)
6) Fantasia 2000 (Boundaries pushed)
7) The Incredibles (Has it all)
8) Fire and Ice (Frank Frazetta in motion...say no more)
9) Spirited Away (no list of animated films would be comlete without this)
10) The Spongebob Squarepants Movie (Because it's as close to Monty Python as a lot of todays kids will ever get)
