I just saw this yesterday. A great movie. It's a spoof of the old blaxploitation movies of the '70's. There were so many parts that had me laughing out loud in the theater. It's a good movie made to look like a bad movie. Actors are switched out in the middle of fight scenes. One actor reads his stage directions as if it was part of the script. Every time the line, 'Of course, it all makes sense now!' is spoken nothing really makes sense.
Here's the red band trailer: (NSFW for language and nudity.)
Hello all I am new to the board and a huge fan of Repairman Jack. I usually never register for anything on the Internet, I like to live off the grid like Jack. I had to register to take a swing at the Title Help thread though and figure I would ask a question while I am here. Is Julio's based off of any real bar? I travel to NY sometimes I want to sit at Jack's table.
Could someone help me with the correct order of the Repairman Jack books. I started reading them somewhere in the middle and I really would like to start at the beginning. Thanks for any help.
Word from Barry: Starting with Secret Circles, Gauntlet will be selling the signed, limited, first-edition Repairman Jack books exclusively from the Gauntlet website (with the exception of a small number sent to Amazon.com).
I am sure this has been commented on before and I may be late to the party, but I just had to say this story kicked ass and I really enjoyed it.
Mr. Wilson, if I may suggest, have you ever thought about writing a full length novel in this vein or something similar, as a big fan of the Wold Newton stuff (even if this was just a coincidence) I have to say you nailed it.
Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock. Uh... certainly doesn't fit my mental image of the legendary detective. (I'll still watch the movie though. Looks like a visual treat.)
A few months ago I started reading the complete works of Sherlock and always had 2 actors in mind - Basil, of course, and a young Charles Dance. Who among today's famous actors would better fit the image and role of Sherlock?
The CIA have received satellite images of a possible nuclear threat in a Taliban territory. An agent with a small group of special ops is sent to investigate and they find much more than expected: The threat may not be nuclear... or human.
Fantastic acting for a low budget flick. Interesting idea along the supernatural lines. A tad slow at times but it adds to the realism that nothing exciting happens at every turn. The ending was a bit of a let down, but overall worth the rent.
I know there was a thread already about this, but I had to share. From "Elmo's Adventures in Grouchland" after Huxley has taken Elmo's blanket, the titular character asks one of the grouches for help and he replies, "I'd love to, but I don't speak any English," and promptly walks away.
