This movie is about the guy(s) who created facebook. Even though it's hard for me to sympathize with the problems facing a billionaire, the movie haunts me. It hit a nerve, kinda like Citizen Kane with Rosebud. There's a lot of Oscar buzz around this movie. We'll see. It has to contend with Never Let Me Go, which is the frontrunner for best picture IMHO. But at least the movie starred the new Spiderman actor, who looks like a Bizarro Peter Parker, IMHO. I recommend the movie only for Oscar fans.

P.S. Haunting, I tell ya.

Words have difficulty expressing how much I love this show. For those not already fans, the show follows the failure-ridden "adventures" of former boy adventurer Dr. Rusty Venture, his naive (and often-cloned) sons Hank and Dean and their bodyguard, mostly reformed child molester Sergeant Hatred. Their previous bodyguard, Brock Sampson, has left to join a G.I.Joe-like organization dedicated to doing something about supervillains.

This was an exchange that took up a full two minutes on a recent show.

Col. Gathers: It's downright unreasonable. I could pole-dance better than half those women. Good lord, son, there should be a mandatory retirement age for strippers.

Brock: Did you see I got cornered by Robin last night? I almost had to chew off my own arm to get away.

Col. Gathers: Ohh, that poor woman has the saddest tits. Damn depressing.

Brock: Right? Yeah, they're like The Notebook sad.

Col. Gathers: Her tits are like "coming home from school and finding out that your old man ran over cat" sad.

Brock: Mournful. She has mournful tits. They're like two suicide notes stuffed in a glitter bra.

Col. Gathers: Those things are like a little kid with progeria cracking all his ribs trying to catch a Nerf ball—just sad. Damn it, she has gloomy tits!

Brock: It's like she put a dollar's worth of change into some old socks and then taped them to her chest.

Col. Gathers: I want to build two little caskets and give her tits a tasteful, dignified funeral.

Yes, I finally got around to ordering all the Jack books from Amazon UK, I think that 2 will be dispatched very soon and the 3rd when it is published, March 2011, I think.
Not sure if dad will pilfer them first or not lol.
I am reading a Dean Koontz at the mo. That is good, but need a book to really get my teeth into. Dean usually does it for me, but I think my frame of mind is off.

Didn't order Fatal Error yet, as it was listed as £444, seems a bit amazing that!!!

I know the first week sales are important for bestseller position. Do Kindle sales count in that or is it only printed books?

Thanks!

Tonight and tonight only is The Exorcist: Director's Cut, 2 and a half hours of movie, extra footage and an interview.

Love these one day events at the movies: operas, concerts, boxing, and so on. Very creative use of the cine.

Loved The Rolling Stones:1972 Tour last week. Good mix of young and old in the crowd. Expect the same for tonight's movie.

This looks like it has potential.
It is a 12A in UK, so might lack sex, violence, action and blood and guts. lol. But might be better than The Other Guys, which was also 12A in UK lol.

This looks like it might have potential?
It is an 18, so should have lots of action, blood and violence.

I'm still reading Hosts and have a question about the Hive virus. It isn't part of the Otherness, is it? It seems too orderly and controlled to be of the chaotic Otherness. Is it something natural that already existed in the orderly universe and is just a tool that the Otherness is using to destabilize the minds of all the humans on earth? At least that is my theory.

Okay, you gotta remember: I was there for the a/c.

Anyway...I don't remember that much about the first movie, so I was going by the trailers for a refresher. Bad move. The movie is about Josh Brolin's bad guy to Shia Inthebuff's good guy. Michael Douglas's character seemed like an afterthought and was squeezed in sideways to make room in the script. What can I say? The a/c was nice. And the Brian Eno/David Bryne score was amazing. Yes, I'll be buying the soundtrack.

Never Let Me Go should be seen by everyone--now. I ended up in the cinema today because of the record-setting heat. So, when I chose this movie to watch, it was strictly for the a/c. I wish I could summarize this movie for you, but I can't. Remember A Beautiful Mind? Give away the "secret" and you've spoiled the basis of the plot. Same thing with NLMG's "secret." And don't read any reviews of this movie either. Just go watch it before the buzz starts.

AC

P.S. We'll talk about it later.
