This was the first movie in some years I turned off without finishing. Granted, it was in the last few minutes before the credits rolled, but I honestly didn't care to watch anymore.

First, this was the first movie that had actors speaking with British accents that just didn't work for me. I'm sure Leonidas and Co. (300) didn't have them either, but that didn't bother me. And the accents weren't even bad- Alfred Molina and Ben Kingsley, actual Brits, were in it.

There was nothing original about this story save for the dagger that could reverse time 60 seconds for whomever wielded it. You have the son of the king, framed for
dear ol' dad's murder
who has to flee with the princess who hates him but will eventually fall in love with him, the evil
uncle
who wants to
be king
and the comical villain.

The movie got so bad it became predictable, building into a ridiculous climax that I just couldn't get up to care about until... and here's the major spoiler-
Kingsley and Gyllenhaal are fighting beneath the city after Kingsley has stabbed the dagger into the glass containing the sands of time. Time reversed to the point where Dastan was first given the dagger. Before his father or either of his brothers were killed. So I had just finished an official waste of time. None of what I had just seen mattered because, in true Dallas fashion, it never happened.
I had to turn the movie off.

As my own little reference I've been making a list of various connections trying to link all of Paul's novels and short stories together, no matter how tenuous the link. I have Virgin linked with Crisscross and The Haunted Air. Legacies, Masque, Sims, and An Enemy of the State linked. All the Rage, Mirage, and Implant.

However, there's still several short stories and novels I haven't placed yet. I'm currently in the process of rereading everything and taking pages of notes but if anyone wants to enlighten me on connections that I haven't gotten to yet...

I haven't linked:
"Green Winter"
"Be Fruitful and Multiply"
"Soft"
"Cuts"
"The Tenth Toe"
"Definitive Therapy"
"Topsy"
"Rockabilly"
"Bob Dylan, Troy Johnson, and the Speed Queen"
"Dreams"
"The November Game"
"When He Was Fab"
"Please Don't Hurt Me"
"Offshore"
"Itsy Bitsy Spider"
"Lysing Toward Bethlehem"
"Aftershock"
"Anna"
"Sole Custody"
The Christmas Thingy
Midnight Mass
Artifact
Draculas

and "Sex Slaves of the Dragon Tong" and "Part of the Game" even though they are linked together. I read them right before Black Wind hoping at least a character would cross over.

Any help?

So I walked into B&N the other day and behold!! Fatal Error in the New Fiction rack!! I walked to the old fiction section and ... Ground Zero (one copy)!!! This is the first time I've ever found any FPW books in my local B&N.

Miracles do happen!!

It's official. The contract is signed. I'm going to write 3 more RJ novels set in the early 90s, between his arrival in NYC and THE TOMB. He'll develop his relationships with Abe and Julio, make mistakes as he learns the ropes and becomes the guy we meet later on. When they're done, THAT'S IT. You'll know everything I know about Jack and there'll be nothing left to tell.

Here's a peek at the cover of the trade paperback edition. This is my first look and I've gotta say I'm annoyed with that solitary figure in the circle. Really, I know they're trying to link it to the Jack series, but that's not appropriate.

I thought I would start a thread so we can talk about things on the show without blowing for those who miss any episodes.

We did it for Lost, the Walking Dead deserves no less! lol

I have GOT to see this movie. When we were teenagers, my best friend and I toyed around with the idea of an evil Santa Claus, the real Cris Kringle. He was supposed to be a guy who would sneak into your house and steal your children, murder parents, etc. It looks like someone actually put the finishing touch on a 15+ year idea (I doubt we were really the first ones to think of it anyway).

Rare Exports

All stories <25 words. I've got one in there, but the line up of my fellow contributors is mind boggling. Some really good stuff.
