Dear Mr. Wilson,
I have been a long-time reader and admirer of your works (first one was the original version of "The Keep") and I must say that your participation in these forums is very refreshing.
Most authors have websites and many have forums, but from the ones that I read on a regular basis, it seems that you are one of the few (if not the only major author) that actually posts and answers questions.
So a big "thank you". I am sure that most, if not all, of your other readers feel the same.
Sincerely,
Steve Wandy

This weekend I watched (on netflix) a bbc series called Survivors. Two seasons, six episodes each, one hour long. Based on a book by Terry Nation, which I haven't read but am nbow interested.

It's all about a pandemic flu that kills 99% of the world population. Definitely worth watching. Plus there's a Jack-esque character involved (you'll figure it out pretty quickly). I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

S P O I L E R W A R N I N G.

Now, I assume the rest of you who've actually finished Secret Vengeance are the only ones still reading this, so without further ado...

I had a few questions lingering after the end of the book. Perhaps someone can give me a verbal slap upside the back of my head, or at the very least a "No-one knows."
 • Is it known through other Secret History mythos just what building was formerly located at the site of the "dead zone?" Could it have been another Lodge, for instance?
 • For lack of better phrasing...what do you think is going on with Levi Coffin's suspicion that Jack has "talents" (other than his pre-Repairman instincts)? Just superstitious finger-pointing, or something bigger?
 • And what do you all make of Levi's promise that he (and others) will "be seeing" Jack around? Otherness, Allies, or...others? And could this mean a reappearance in, oh, I don't know...The Dark At the End?
Like I said, perhaps it's all ambiguous, but perhaps I'm overlooking the obvious. I for one am a fan of ambiguous, so that'd be fine by me!

Thanks for a wonderful and very fun trilogy, FPW.

Finally! The last chapter of Harry Potter movies!

Just now I returned from a theater. It was excellent, better than "The Half-Blood Prince".

As a matter of fact, I haven't read the series lately, so I'm not sure how it goes. Seems to be going to dark mood. The previous movie was hopeless. But I believe it'll be happy ending. Oh, please don't spoiler about last sequences! I'm looking forward to part 2. Wink Big Grin

By the way, my neighbourhood's theatre got IMAX, so I saw this on IMAX. It's not 3-D, but it was great! Tron Legacy will be 3-D. Cool

Sounds like we'll be getting 3 more Jack books (Yes, Virginia there is a Santa Claus!) in the coming future...and we'll learn how he meets his buddies Abe and Julio, and so forth, and that's all good.

Sounds like there's plenty of interest in Abe's history, even pre-RJ. Are there any tales to be told of early Abe in our future too (as in solo)?

I know I'd snag that in a heartbeat. I'd assume any FPW fan would. Has that been bandied about?

Paul et al,

I see on Amazon that some the Adversary Cycle is out in trade-format from Tor. I've held off getting/reading any of those til close to the close of RJ's tale to avoid knowing the ending until it's ended. Now that I've got the penultimate in my grubby little mitts, I'd like to snag the AC and read up through Reprisal so I'm ready to dive into Night World after I finish The Dark at the End. I see the following entries on Amazon:
The Keep

The Touch

Reborn

I remember reading Nightworld was being revised to include references to the RJ saga that weren't uncovered until recent years, but don't recall seeing anything on Reprisal. Are both books being revised? If so, will we be seeing a series of AC books by Tor... (ideally with an edition of the most recent version of Rakosh) for the completists out there?
I hope you all can shine a little promising light on this. I could use the ray of sunshine. My best friend and I work 1/3 mile away from the Convention Center in Columbus where FPW was for WFC. He's just one of the multitude I've turned on to the RJ saga (and FPW in general), and work had us so buried at the end of October that I didn't end up getting to go, and I'd been waiting all year for that. Imagine...that close to The Man, and .... denied. Sorry state of affairs.

So I realized today that Nightworld starts in May, presumably 2012 when it is re-released, which happens to be the year the world ends according to the Mayan calendar and 2012 doomsday prophecies.

Just found that amusing.

Don't worry, FPW, this isn't aimed at you as a "You should really write a book about..." kind of idea. I think that with time, that quickly becomes the LAST thing an author would want to hear.

No, I'm talking to the REST of you.

You've probably all seen books around in the philosophy, or media, or humor, or other sections in stores that end with ...and Philosophy. Or perhaps The Philosophy of... Everything from LOST to Metallica, the iPod to Harry Potter, The Daily Show to Iron Man. Heck, I'm surprised there hasn't been Saw or even Iron Chef yet.

So what about the #1 reason anyone joins this forum?

What could someone philosophize about Repairman Jack, the Adversary Cycle, and the Secret History of the World? Just to get your noggins cooking, here's just a scant few ideas:
 • Just What the Heck Is Going On? Weezy and the Need For (Ugly) Truths
 • Getting the Job Done: Morality Issues vs. Jack's Business
 • Evil vs. Anti-Evil: The Otherness vs....?
And many of you might be nodding and saying, "That's a (nice) idea, Barry...but who WILL write this?" Me? I definitely would contribute; but like those other ...and Philosophy books, this could be a collection of various essays written by various people. That's where the more ambitious and/or philosophically-minded of you come in.

Eh? Eh? Thoughts? "Terrible idea, Barry?" That's the beauty of philosophy, folks - it's all up to debate!

This was the first movie in some years I turned off without finishing. Granted, it was in the last few minutes before the credits rolled, but I honestly didn't care to watch anymore.

First, this was the first movie that had actors speaking with British accents that just didn't work for me. I'm sure Leonidas and Co. (300) didn't have them either, but that didn't bother me. And the accents weren't even bad- Alfred Molina and Ben Kingsley, actual Brits, were in it.

There was nothing original about this story save for the dagger that could reverse time 60 seconds for whomever wielded it. You have the son of the king, framed for
dear ol' dad's murder
who has to flee with the princess who hates him but will eventually fall in love with him, the evil
uncle
who wants to
be king
and the comical villain.

The movie got so bad it became predictable, building into a ridiculous climax that I just couldn't get up to care about until... and here's the major spoiler-
Kingsley and Gyllenhaal are fighting beneath the city after Kingsley has stabbed the dagger into the glass containing the sands of time. Time reversed to the point where Dastan was first given the dagger. Before his father or either of his brothers were killed. So I had just finished an official waste of time. None of what I had just seen mattered because, in true Dallas fashion, it never happened.
I had to turn the movie off.
