Anyone else geeked for this movie? The last Planet of the Apes remake was a horrible, silly mess but this looks awesome.


I hope the movie lives up to the original and lives up to the preview.

I'm a big Dexter fan. Any suggestion from the board as to who would make a good guest star this year? Try and stick to Florida residents if you will.

Anyone else catch the first episode of Torchwood, Miracle Day on Starz? It is an interesting idea for a TEOTWAWKI based story. The idea is suddenly one day no one on Earth can die. People who survive fatal accidents and every kind of death that would normally happen stop.

It is a Torchwood series so I imagine it will come back to some sort of alien interference, but some of the foundation building seems to be very cool and worth a look. Like one of the storylines is about a convicted child killer who was being put to death at the time the change happens, he survivies and wrangles his way out of prison.

At one point they talk about the population on Earth and how it will very quickly be beyond sustainable levels. I can't remember the numbers, but they do a death vs. birth thing and it happens much faster than you would imagine.

I don't have faith in Starz as far as series go, but this one has me interested and I will watch it to see if it can keep me interested.

Anyone watching Covert Affairs? I like it so far. Christopher Gorham is great in it, but i'm still mad at how the whole Harpers Island thing turned out, so he's forever tainted in my mind.I watch more USA shows now than network tv shows. Good stuff.

I bought several books in the Repairman Jack series from Amazon last year. During the school year I don't have much time to read so I just picked up All the Rage a few days ago. It is a great book, but when I got to page 440, I noticed that the next page is 473. There are 33 pages missing! I am so hooked on this book and now I have to go find another copy! Where is Repairman Jack when you need him?

A thought occured to me regarding the description of the q'q'r- they have 2 legs and four arms, and are ruthless in their destruction of non-Otherness. Is there a possible link to the Hindu god Shiva? Shiva is a goddess of death, and also has four arms... The Rakoshi were seen as hindu demons, and Rasalom is from a mountainous region from within China (if I remember the prologue to Nightworld correctly). If this is the Himalayas, then he would have been brought up near Bengal, the other side of the border.

In the original Nightworld everyone wanted Jack to wield the sword but the sword would only accept Glaeken. Jack series seems to be setting him up for the job of defending the Ally. First there is the whole "spear has no branches" thing, and killing off his loved ones. And Glaeken doesn't want to reprise his role, he expects Jack to take over. So I've been wondering if this is going play out the same as the original Nightworld, with Jack trying the sword first, then everyone else, then finally Glaeken being the only one. What does everyone else think will happen in the revised book? Is Jack going to be the hero or Glaeken?
