Being I am on a business trip and extremely bored I was wasting time on the internet and found that you can get this movie on DVD!

Go to Ebay and select teh DVD/movies catagory and then horror genre and do a search for "Don't be afraid of the dark".

And the cost isn't anywhere near as prohibitive as the prices for the used VHS tapes on Amazon.

I am now in the process of getting this movie on DVD. Very excited to see it again. Hope it still scares the bejeebers out of me. Big Grin

Any Highlander mavens out there? I saw the first a century or two ago; I was thinking of working through the series but I've heard it's uneven. Which titles are the highs and which are the lows?

I just wanted to point out a couple of errors that I caught in Midnight Mass.

P. 94 There was an apostrophe left off of the word doin' (or the 'g' was left off).

P. 164 "...left an cavity..." should be "...left a cavity..."

P. 167 I swear I found one on this page but I can't find it now. Big Grin

P. 262 I'm not sure if this is an error or not. The heading of this section is "CAROLE...," but it seems like it is actually all told from Lacey's perspective. BTW, I love your technique of switching perspective throughout the story. I have noticed this in other novels, but have failed to mention it until now.

I have not finished the book yet, but I wanted to post these asap. Great book...so far..... Wink Big Grin

Saw Frailty last night and was impressed. Good acting, very disturbing, with an unexpected twist at the end. I kept thinking, "Schizophrenia can be SO scary," and then got the tables turned on me. This is a good 'un.

I just got back from seeing French horror action movie,"Les Rivieres Pourpres 2 --Les Anges de l'Apocalypse--". If you don't know French, this English title is "Crimson River 2". In U.S., released by this title?

Performer is Jean Reno as Chief Niemans. Also starring is Christopher Lee(!).
Does anyone seen this movie? This is thrilling and chilly. I recommend it. Smile

A while back someone pointed me to a website that offered all of the adversery cycle and repairman jack books that were being reprinted in hardback and I lost it. Does anyone remember the name or is it over.

Oh and by the way I just finished Black Wind and I do have to say that it is possibly the best book I have ever read.

I watched those two fan-made trailers... and I have to say that of the two (John Cusack, and Ed Burns) I'd have to go with Burns.

Cusack definitely has the average-joe appearance, I just don't think he's got the ability to portray the rage that Jack struggles with.

Personally, when I read the books (or should I say reread them) I tend to try to find an actor that would fit the role. Not an easy task. Some actors have some qualities, but very few have all of them.

Those actors that jump to the top of the list (for me anyway) are as follows:

Jason Stratham (of Transporter and Snatch fame). The only real hurdles I think he would have to deal with in the role of Jack would be his accent, and... well, his hair. I don't think anyone imagines Jack with a receeding hairline. However I think the character Turkish from Snatch would really fit the aspect of 'Jack' where he's trying to blend into the crowd, while the character he played in Transporter would be the aspect of 'Jack' where he's forced to get physical.

Mark Walberg (Italian Job, Planet of the Apes)... Yeah, I know. But he is a pretty good actor and has the physical makeup necessary for the role, as well as the ability to conceal that. He also fits more in my mind as the right age for Jack.

Keanu Reeves... just kidding. hehe...

Matt Damon (Borne Identity) Actually, before seeing him in that role I wouldn't have considered him for a potential Jack. After seeing it, regardless of the fact that they really mangled the novel, I can't deny that he might make a good Jack... although I see Jack as being a bit taller but hell they can make anyone look any height in movies these days.

To me, Cusack is too average.. and Burns is too good looking. I also have a problem with Burns acting ability, but that may just be my problem.

I just picked this one up at Blockbuster over the weekend. There's something fundamentally dumb about it, but I just can't help liking it. I think the sheer imagination of a mind that could come up with such polar opposite extremes in Elvis and a mummy (and a black man who believes he's JFK) is amazing. I mean, I never stopped seeing Bruce Campbell as a guy pretending to be Elvis, but the make-up was good and his acting was too. Ossie Davis was surprisingly entertaining- I don't know exactly what I'm trying to say here. It was too far out there to be believed, but I loved it anyway. My wife rolled her eyes in disgust, but secretly, I covet this movie. I think I'm going to start buying books by Joe R. Lansdale until she shames me as much as she does for reading FPW- but secretly... secretly... I'll sneak a line of Lansdale like I was a cokehead.

Read it just before hitting the road to Georgia last weekend. Enjoyed it quite a bit. While in Georgia visiting friends, some of which that I had turned onto the Repairman Jack series, I was informed that Midnight Mass was a sequel to an earlier book.

Which confused me. I followed the forums almost rabidly before the big change over (which I like btw) and didn't recall a previous vampire novel that FPW did (aside from The Keep which was really a Vampire bait n' switch novel).

Now I'm wondering if my friend meant it was a sequel to a short story I missed, or something of that nature, or if he has absolutely no clue what he's talking about.

Anyway, is Midnight Mass a sequel to anything? Also, FPW, have you by chance read E.E. Night's vampire series? I read Ways of the Wolf, and Choice of the Cat right before reading your Midnight Mass and the two stories complement each other amazingly, and even parallel each other such as the names given to those humans who help the vampires (Vichys in yours, and Quislings in E.E. Nights)
