A quick note - despite Paul having signed these last week, we just finished up shipping out all the copies of Harbingers (trade hardcover) -- the last go out tomorrow morning. Both flat-signed and inscribed (unless there was a credit card problem, in which case I've emailed you).

Everyone -- everyone -- should have their copies no later than this Saturday, and many of you will have it before then.

My deepest apologies for the delay on this item. Paul's items ship from my home (not my warehouse) -- that's how I can get them signed -- and my transportation last week to the post office conked out. I appreciate everyone's patience, and if anyone has any questions, email me at [email protected].

So to maybe make Lon feel a little better about his strange habit, I must admit that I have been tracking RJ locations on Google Earth.* I've looked up Gia's place on Sutton Place, I've tracked Jack to Bermuda and Nantucket (I think I located almost exactly where the safehouse is) and Red Hook (I also think I found the warehouse, aka HOME). I followed him to John Jay park near New York Hospital and even found the pedestrian walkway over the FDR.

The attention to detail that Paul has in the books is seemingly near perfect. I only say 'near' perfect because I couldn't figure out how the safehouse is "directly north" of the Wauwinet Inn. Big Grin

*I know, webby, I know, but Google Earth is just too freakin' cool. :p

On the last week's episode of Supernatural, Sam and Dean fought a Hindu flesh-eating demon called a Rakshasa. With a bit more digging, i found out that the things are real (in a way as in there really is mythology about them,) and FPW is even mentioned on its wiki page.

Wicked.

Mistake free filmmaking. It couldn't have been more perfect. Great script, great cast with many memorable performances put together by a great director. The less you know about the film the more you will enjoy it. I wouldn't think a crime drama could win best picure at the Oscars but if any could this would be the one. I caught the matinee and the theater was close to being full. Normally there would be 5 to 10 people. Might be because I live in the Boston area where it was filmed and most people had the day off but nonetheless it looks as if it's going to be a very popular film.

Without delving into spoiler-rich discussion of HARBINGERS, I'm having a hard time quenching my curiosity about what the next RJ after that will be called.

Is this title still a state secret, or is my search-fu just too weak to find it?

This is too damn funny. Make sure you watch until the end.

To celebrate the ages-old newbie question ("Why is The Tomb called The Tomb even though there is no tomb in it?"), I will share a few discoveries that I made upon my first re-read of The Tomb.

You see, I found not one, not two, but FOUR (even five, maybe) references to tombs in the book. Unfortunately I didn't mark where they were in the book as I was reading, and my quick scavenger hunt this morning revealed only three of them, but my point is made.

In the new, bargain-priced Tor paperback:
  • Pg. 204, paragraph 5: "...a temple that was now a pyre and a tomb for that nameless sect." (this is my "classic" one)
  • Pg. 254, paragraph 2: "The tombstonelike Secretariat Building was off limits to the public."
  • Pg. 418, paragraph 5: "Like a loyal Indian wife throwing herself on her husband's funeral pyre, it headed towards Kusum's sunken iron tomb."
Yes, I understand how little of a life this shows I have, but hopefully my discovery is interesting enough to overwhelm that.
