I know I have posted here before about some great Irish movies - especially the one called "Breakfast on Pluto" about a gay/crossdressing kid living on the border of the north in the 70's/80's. Wonderful film.

I found a great list of films that have been made here, and, while I haven't seen most of them, I thought I would put the list here - maybe others can find them and report.

The Front Line Mumba, a muscian from the Congo works as a security guard in a bank in Dublin. Director: David Glesson

Puffball A couple purchase a remote cottage in teh English countryside Director: Nicholas Roeg Main Cast: Donald Southerland, Samatha Morton

Ugly Duckling and Me Morre than the story of Hans Christian Anderson's Ugly Duckling. this is also the story of his mother (or possibly father) called Ratso. Director Michael Hegner, Karstein Kiilerich Main Cast Morgan Jones, Justin Gregg, Anna Olsen

48 Angels 9 year old Seamus, diagnosed with a serious illness, sets off in a boat with neither oars nor sail in search of a miracle. Director Marion Comer Main Cast:Shane Brolly, John Travers

Small Engine Repair The story of Doug, a boy who finds fame through his love of country and western music. Director Niall Heery Main Cast: Iain Glen, Steven Mackintosh, Stuart Graham

I have not seen any of these - so all I can do is pass on the info... You may be in for a treat - or it may be pretty scary (not in a good sense...)

I'm confused, probably because I haven't been following things closely enough.

FPW finished the revised version of Nightworld, right? Back in May?

How could he do this if all the RJ novels aren't written yet? Isn't there a chance that something will happen in an upcoming RJ novel that he didn't anticipate, and that the revised Nightworld might be out of sync? It just seems like he'd naturally wait to do the revised NW after he's done with the RJ novels.

Also, do we know how many more RJ novels there will be? (Maybe the answer to this helps answer the first question.)

Yesterday I saw "16 Blocks", and it was pretty good.

"16 Blocks" is action thriller that Bruce Willis as Jack Mosley, a broken down NY detective assigned to escort a petty criminal , Eddie(Mos Def) from the precinct to the courthouse. It was simple 16 block journey, but when Jack's ex-partners attempted to stop them, everything changed.

At first I thought this is remake of "The Gauntlet". But it was a little bit different. It's the story of how two men change each other during a tense 110 minute struggle between life and death.

One problem was Mos Def. His chit-chat annoyed me. 98% prattle, 2% serious. But that 2% was good.

I figured I'd put this now, even though I haven't drawn it, but I am planning to draw what I interpret a Rakosh to look like. Sorry if this thread ends up being in the wrong section, I figured rakosh=Repairman Jack related soo......

Anyway, I have to wait till I get my 'The Tomb' back from my nephew (who will hopefully become another RJ fanatic) so I can make sure I fine tune any Rakosh details, unless if anyone can recall in any of the other volumes having a good description of a rakosh. (The only one that seems to click in my head at the moment would be 'All the Rage', but I have to go back and re-read it to make sure)

As I recollect, there was not a lot of interest in "Capote" on this board. There probably won't be alot of interest in "Infamous." There shouldn't be.

"Infamous" is a movie that has all the right elements but does not hang together well. I had the feeling I was looking at something that could have been a fine stage play. It just didn't MOVE. Films are motion pictures. They must have movement and not be set pieces strung together like a series of beautiful photographs. There are many lovely shots throughout the movie, staid and unmoving.

The cast was interesting. Toby Jones, the actor who plays Capote, resembles him in stature and voice more than Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Jones is quite good; Hoffman was brilliant.

Capote's New York social scene is shown in greater detail in "Infamous" than in "Capote." Juliet Stevenson is brilliant as Diana Vreeland, who hates the word "eccentric" which is exactly what she is.

I won't remember this film. It doesn't have what it takes to be memorable, though I will always remember the fabulous red flowered wallpaper in Babe Paley's living room.

This is Ginza in 1927. The places where Matsuo returned from San Francisco. If you have an interest, check it. Wink

Pieces. It's a campy 80s horror movie I saw in the theater (my parents took me to see all kinds of inappropriate movies as a child). Netflix doesn't carry it yet, but if enough people request it they'll buy it. Please, if you happen to be on, adding to your queue, just add this movie. Netflix lists its release as being 2004, but that's about 20 years off.
