Hi, just wanted to make this post to say hi and to talk about my experience with F. Paul Wilson's books so far. Also to ask a couple of questions.

Basically about 6 months ago after hearing murmurs about Repairman Jack from various places, I decided to buy the entire series. I purchased each and every RJ novel, all six books of the Adversary Cycle (which were kinda hard to find) and even the short story collections that had an RJ story (or the "prequel" story to The Touch that is in Soft) in it. I'm kindof OCD about stuff, if I decide to start to read a series, I have to buy every book in it before I'll read it. Although apparently from what I've read pretty much every Wilson story kind of has overtones that relate to the Adversary Cycle, but I've gotten everthing that is obviously related to it.

Anyways, I've been backlogged on books to read for a long time, so I'm just now starting the books. Although I did read both short story collections (Soft and Barrens) excluding the Repairman Jack stories because I wanted to read them within the timeline. I have each book marked in order to read with what short stories to read in between which books (I have the two in Soft and Barrens, the 99cent one I printed off of Amazon.com, The Last Rakosh novella and the story in that new Thrillers collection). By the way, one note about the short story collections - I really don't get into them. Even collections by my favorite authors, I seem to rush through them and not want to read them all. This however was not the case with these two collections. I read each and every story - slowly - and enjoyed them all. Reading his short stories was when I started to realize I had made an excellent choice in buying these books.

So I just started The Keep, I'm about 100 pages into it, and damn I love Wilson's work so far, it's just good storytelling. I plan to read the 6 books of the Adversary Cycle and then all of the Repairman Jack novels and short stories of course.

My main purpose on making this post is just to say how happy I am with the books. Buying all these books were expensive and it could have been a huge waste of money but it turns out I'm very happy with buying them all. Also to kind of get a feel from you guys on the future of this series. How much room is there do you guys think before the Repairman Jack novels end due to them catching up with Nightworld which as I understand, takes place after the RJ books.

I know there is a revised edition of Nightworld but it is in limited print and somewhat expensive. Has anyone read this and if so, what needed to be revised. I have the regular older edition of Nightworld of course and when I read it, will I be annoyed by maybe mentions of dates that were changed in the new edition to make it tie in more with the RJ timeline? Anything I should be aware of as I read these books for maximum enjoyment?

Hope this post makes sense. Anyways thanks for any responses.

My wife just rented this over the weekend. It was a pretty good movie considering it was low-budget. It also got a mention in the Sundance Festival. No spoilers, just paraphrasing what's on the Jacket: a woman working at a convenience store is murdered only to wake up back in the convenience store. And she begins to get clues that the killer isn't done with her yet.

I know most of you lucky people already have access to Lost Season 3, given that you live Over There, but please try not to jump in with spoilers on this thread!!!!
Living in Sunny England means that we have to wait seemingly forever to get our hands on Season 3. But I read somewhere yesterday that Sky has just bought Season 3 and might be showing it as soon as November! Yes! Yesyesyes!
Any other Sunny Englanders heard this rumour?

I went to "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints" knowing nothing about it other than it's a coming of age flick. I was unprepared for the emotional wallop that I received. It's unremittingly gritty and very disturbing. It gets under your skin. I wanted to fall asleep or leave but I couldn't. It was like watching multiple train wrecks. It's a low budget indie, written and directed by Dito Monteil based on his autobiography. He grew up in a grim section of Astoria, Queens, and all he could think about was getting out. He did, but he never got Astoria out of him.

New York City in the '70's was not a pretty place, especially the boroughs. The City was explosive, dirty, full of garbage and grafitti. It was a different world back then, and this movie brought all the dark, smoldering underside back to me.

The el (elevated subway) looms large in the film. It towers over Dito's apartment. Young Dito meets Mike, a recent immigrant from Scotland whose teacher introduces Mike to the class as an Irish boy. Mike corrects the teacher who looks at him blankly and shrugs. Mike introduces Dito to the joys of taking the el just for the heck of it, just to see other places. But Dito's father doesn't understand that; he sees Dito's traveling to Coney Island as traitorous. "You're never gonna leave here. Dito's never going anywhere," was the father's mantra. Dito fought that tooth and nail, and dragged himself away from the overwhelming hoplessness and consumate dead end that was his neighborhood

I'd heard that Robert Downey was miscast. I disagree. The youngsters who star are terrific. My god, I thought I was watching kids I'd grown up with, they were cast so realistically.

"A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints" is a remarkable film, but not for everyone.

IMHO FPW is revealing bit by bit a fantastic and rich background to the RJ books & advesary cycle

Sometime ago I managed to find a copy of Demonsong, the story where it all started.

I am sure I read somewhere that FPW had no intention to tackle a post nightworld story, but that he may do some prequel type stories

All that was really just a rambling way to ask FPW if he really does have any plans to maybe revisit the first age & tell the story of Glaeken & Rasalom?

Not sure about other members, but I for one would love this.

Now we're getting to the other side of the island again. About time! I prefer the freaky weird stuff that happens to them. Like the polar bear. The Others are too "normal". The vision quest was pretty cool too!
