...pretty self-explanatory, but for even further clarity: this is a thread for those of us RJ Forum regulars who, despite the infamous *drunken* exploits of Mel Gibson, still find said actor/director to be too damn talented to lose interest in.

I have no idea where this thread will go (at this point it's prettymuch like a balloon that has been untied and left to go on its farting flight in random directions around a room), but I thought in lieu of a pretty successful opening of Apocalypto, Mel Gibson deserves his popularity in this corner of the Internet.

And so...um...there!

I can't wait until this comes out! I just finished the book a couple of days ago and it was awesome!

Me and the Hubby went to see this yesterday with 2 other couples. While they thought it a little draggy, I really enjoyed it. One commented on how she hated subtitles but I got used to it really quick. Of course you can't look down to look at your bill (Alamo Drafthouse) because you might miss the funniest line in the movie! (That happened to hubby, Liam, and Tamra.) I love reading about Ancient Indian cultures so I loved the movie!

Critics are giving this movie a B-. Screw the critics! This movie is real, moving, and in your face. I was touched by this movie, and it may open up a few eyes. All I will say is I loved it, I will let you all digest it accordingly.

I've pondered this deeply, as much as God has given me the ability. And I think it's =gotta= be a meld between the final Jack novel and NIGHTWORLD: Jack meets Glaeken in Central Park. (Of course, that won't be for many a long year, with 10 or 12 Jack novels to come. Ain't I right, Paul?Wink )

Everybody says, "Departed is Best film of the year", but I haven't seen it yet, so I can't say so. "Letters From Iwo Jima" is Best film of the year to me. And this is the best of all of Eastwood's films. Hollywood film maker made a Japanese movie. All characters are Japanese actors, and all dialogues are Japanese (US soldiers speak English, of course). For a long time, I've seen all Eastwood's movies, but this is very special movie. If you saw this movie without a preliminary knowledge, I'm sure you'll misunderstand that it was made by Japanese film maker. But definitely this is Eastwood movie.

Ken Watanabe played General Tadamichi Kuribayashi. Ken Watanabe is well known by "The Last Samurai". So you know about him, don't you? His acting deserve Oscar nomination by this movie.

"Flags of our fathers" were about battle with Japanese army, truth about flags, story of three soldiers. "Letters from Iwo Jima" were about defense battle, friendship, and letters to their families.

So......I saw both of movies, "Flags of our fathers" and "Letters from Iwo Jima". Both movie's theme was "father and son". In "Flags of our fathers", the son interviewed to war veteran about his father. In "Letters from Iwo Jima", fathers wrote letters to son (and wife). They knew those letters won't go to son and wife. Nevertheless they wrote letters. That was very sad and I couldn't stop tears....Sad

I don't know if Eastwood see this board or not. But I want to say thanks to Eastwood. Thank you Mr. Eastwood. This is your best movie!Smile

Robert Rodriguez's trailer is available. It looks pretty cool; Rose McGowan with a gun for a leg and MACHETE.

This may not technically belong in this forum, but .....

A friend of mine posted this on his blog:

Quote: From Wired:

Like Capt. Mal Reynolds stumbling in after a bar fight, the short-lived but much beloved sci-fi series Firefly will soon make an unexpected return, not as a TV show, but as a massively multiplayer online game.

Now that’s shiny.

Multiverse, maker of a free MMO-creation platform, plans to announce Friday morning that it’s struck a deal with Fox Licensing to turn the show into an MMORPG in the fashion of Star Wars Galaxies or Eve Online.

The “Browncoats,” as Firefly’s most devoted fans are known, have been campaigning to bring the show back almost since the moment it was canceled in late 2002. Now they’ll get their wish, albeit in a new form.

After reading a thread with conversation between by Scott Miller and Tooleman, I went to the Gauntlet site. Gauntlet will begin taking orders for Bloodline January first. My way to start a new year. But then I'll just have to wait for my book to arrive.....sigh....at least it will be ordered! Big Grin
