Tried to download from Amazon.com but apparently it can't be downloaded to the UK (and amazon.co.uk don't sell it)

Any other way to get a hold of this story?

What was your favorite part of Legacies? Mine was the building hack. I remember reading it, then re-reading it because it was so amazing. Honestly, it was one of the coolest scenes I've ever read.

Hey folks,

I'm going to be treating myself to a day in NYC (my first) this Saturday. Will be arriving Penn Station at 11 AM and headed back home at 7 PM.

I don't want to do a bunch of touristy things, just a loosely planned out walking tour that includes a museum (Natural History or MOMA, whichever works out) something good to eat in either Chinatown or Little Italy, Rockefeller Center after dark, and naturally, any RJ points of interest within walking distance of Penn Station from the books up through INFERNAL. (Like... oh I don't know, maybe the steps where Vicks and Gia were attacked in ALL THE RAGE or something. Basically any neat locations from the books I could conceivably pass through in the time allowed.)

Never having been in the city, only through it, I have no idea if any of that is even doable from Penn Station, much less how to get from Point A to Point B without getting mugged while gawking at all the tall buildings. Wink

Anyone here up to helping me plan the day and take in some RJ-related goodness along the way?

(Mods: if this is too far off topic, please accept my apologies and move the post to where ever it fits better.)

Just saw this new little horror flick. Not sure if the title is Touristas or Tourista Go Home. Doesn't matter. The movie starts off as a Hostel rip-off but decides to become a brochure for Brazil. The horror portions are too short to actually call this a horror film; however, I enjoyed myself (as did the dozen or so people also in attendence). Lots of T & A, a nice beach, and a lovely river with underground caves. Could have used a better gaffer in the second half of the movie.

AC

P.S. Beware doctors with pointy sticks.

Is the signed limited edition of the Tery due to ship before christmas? The website doesn't state when it is due to ship.
Many Thanks

I'm babysitting this weekend so I piled everyone into the van and we went to The Elvis Cinema to see Open Season yesterday. It won't win any awards, but there are enough funny moments to make it worth seeing. Ashton Kutcher's mule-deer, Elliott, is particularly good.

The soundtrack was a pleasant surprise as it was written and performed by Paul Westerberg of Replacements near-fame.

I had a great-second-day-of-my-birthday-day. I was taken to High Tea at the Hotel Pierre today, which is fabulous fun if you ever get to New York. If you can, try to find a place in your home town the serves High Tea in the British fashion; it's an experience.

We ran late and so I missed the theater show that I'd planned to see. No biggie. I saw two movies instead. The timing was right for each, and that's how I came to see them. Neither was one I'd rush out to see. You don't need to, either. They can wait for DVD or even cable.

Marie Antoinette
Sophia Coppola has created a lovely to look at but trying to sit through film. Yes, we come away with a sense of what it might have been like for young Marie coming to France, ascending to the throne and then facing her demise. However, I felt like I was watching an extraordinarily beautiful travelogue created for those who wish to travel to 18th Century France. It was static tableau after static tableau with lovely photography and costumes to die for. I'll come back later with the name of the costume designer, but she will be nominated for an Oscar and deserves to win. The list of seamstresses in the credits was larger than any I've ever seen for a film. Kirsten Dunst does her usual dependable job. Jason Schwarzman looks somewhat stunned to find himself in such a fancy dress film. It wasn't worth the $11; wait for cable.

For Your Consideration
I liked Christopher Guest's take on the mad dash for the Oscars in Hollywood. It stars the usual Guest suspects, and they are all terrific. I particularly loved Jane Lynch and Fred Willard as anchors on the entertainment TV news channel and Parker Posey. It's very enjoyable viewing, but I think you can wait for DVD.

Sch-Fi action series "Charlie Jade" has begun since last week. I just saw first episode only, but.....wow, this is really cool! This is TV drama, but quality is like a movie.

Charlie Jade is a rogue private detective in a world dominated by greedy multinational corporations. While on an investigation, Charlie explores a secret desert facility. A massive explosion propels him from his own universe (alphaverse) to a strange parallel universe (betaverse). Soon, Charlie is drawn into a conflict that involves these two universes and one other pacifist universe (gammaverse) with unsuspected terror at its heart.

Has anyone seen this?

I realize the gunnies are gonna give me hell for this, but I loved the Semmerling, it was just so damn cool. Maybe it's not the most practical gun, but come on, who doesn't wanna see it back?
