*******************MINOR SPOILERS*********************

Who watched the season finale?

I admit, I love this show. Not every episode is action-packed. The characters do a lot of talking but seeing Superman in his younger years is always fun.

From the beginning they had the no tights/no flights rule. They already abandoned the no flights rule but have kep them to a minimum.

Throughout the series we have seen some familiar villians grace the small screen. Of course Lex Luthor who grows more creepy as the series progresses. We have seen Braniac, General Zod, and as of the season finale a certain bizare version of the man of steel.

We have also seen our fair share of heroes from the DC Universe. Cyborg, Green Arrow, Aquaman, Supergirl, Martian Manhunter and The Flash (named Impulse in the series due to not being able to secure rights because of a pending movie.)

As far as season finales go this one was the best of the series.

Just watched a couple of flicks that feature H20 as a main character: The Guardian and Beneath Still Waters. Both are solid efforts for what they are.

The Guardian is a paint-it-by-the-numbers thrillama that delivers solid acting and production in a Coast Guard remake of an An Officer and A Gentleman. I thought the schooling was interesting and the action sequences were exciting, though not quite edge of your seat.

Beneath Still Waters is the B-movie adaptation of Matthew Costello's excellent book. It has been years since I read it, but it seemed fairly true the story as I remember it. It suffers a bit from its budget, but there is plenty of good gore to satisfy fans of low budget horror.

Many of you have sent out your support on this site for Baby Jack and now he is here. He was born at 5:02 pm and weighed 8lb 10 oz. I hope to figure out how to post a picture but I did put one next to my name. Thanks for all those who gave advice on naming him. Sorry fpw, I gave him a family name to appease the relatives but we all know that he is Baby Repairman Jack. The scary part now is how to keep Rasalom away from our house. I think the otherness is already messing with us. That has to be the reason that he stays awake all night. Jack is on a constant vigil.

If any of you fine folks happened to enjoy this series as much as I did, you'll be saddened, and probably a little more than ticked, to learn that CBS cancelled it.

However, there is a petition to get CBS to reconsider this, and here is the link. Hey, every single signature counts, so lets hope that there will be enough to make a difference.

After some waiting and some help from Queen Lisa (thank you) I am finally a member of the board. I thought it might be fun to introduce myself by telling you how I became an avid reader of (most of) FPW's work. This will end up being a fairly long first thread, and I promise that I won't be so wordy again.

By the way, the name is Chris.

In the summer of 1993, my fairly new wife (married in December, 1992) and I decided to test our new marriage by taking a car trip from our home (Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada) to Newfoundland (where she was born), a trip that covered 6 Provinces, and 9 States. Let me tell you, spending that much time alone in a car was the perfect opportunity to see if our marriage would work, and, I’m happy to say, we survived it and are still quite happy.

Anyway, we spent 10 days visiting my wife’s Grandmother in the town of Springdale, Newfoundland. Springdale is a nice little town with absolutely nothing to do. We spent our days wandering the countryside and visiting extended relatives, and my wife was content to visit with her Grandparents and Aunt after supper. I ended up spending most of my evenings reading (and smoking) in the local coffee shop. Before leaving on the trip, I had loaded up on all of the Prey novels by John Sanford (I had just discovered them), but it didn’t take me long to go through them. I found myself “out of book” on day 7 and, as many of you will know, the prospect of having nothing to read so far away from home was unnerving. I walked over to the drugstore and went through their limited supply of new novels. After much looking, I finally settled on a book called “Nightworld” by an author that I had never heard of. When I say that I settled on it, I really did because there was nothing else that even came close to catching my interest. In fact, I may have chosen Nightworld for the simple fact that it was so out of place with the other genres featured.

I began the book and was hooked. It ended up taking me close to a week to finish it because we ended up on the trek home, but, once done, I had a new author to fixate on (I am very much an author oriented reader). I became focused on collecting all of the books in the cycle, as well as anything else by F. Paul Wilson. On the way home, I managed to find The Keep, and was through it by the time we arrived back.

In 1993, Regina had 7 used book stores (now we have 2). This was a fair amount for a city of 190,000, and I combed each one of them until I had all of the books written by FPW to date. I ended up reading Black Wind after The Keep and it was one of the best that I have ever read. I completed the rest of the books, and reread Nightworld (this is one of only 4 books that I have ever read twice).

Following my final reading of Nightworld, my fixation with FPW began to wane. I bought a couple of the medical thrillers, but, like Robin Cook novels, they didn’t hold my interest enough to start anticipating the arrival of the next new volume.

I had pretty much given up on FPW when a book dedicated to Repairman Jack came out. I have been back on board ever since.

There. Hope this wasn’t too long.

Can we get a hint as to when Bloodlines will be out in a trade HC edition? Much as I like supporting the smaller presses, $60 is a bit much for one book -- even though it's bound to be a really really good book.

Any chance of it appearing in an SFBC or QPB edition? That's pushing the limit, I know, but hey, there's only so many entertainment dollars to spend.

Today "The Dream Hunter (Neil Gaiman)" arrived. And, I realized the story is about "Onmyoji". So......anyone saw this Japanese movie? Story by Baku Yumemakura, he is translator of "T.D.H". So if you like "The Dream Hunter", I guess you'll like this movie. Even if you're not "T.D.H" fan, I'm sure you like it.

Check this.

Main character is Mansai Nomura as Abe no Seimei. Abe is Onmyoji. You don't know Onmyoji? Check this.

Run, don't walk, to go see this movie.

Sequel to 28 Days Later and it rocks just as much. No one I know has seen this yet (the wife was working - she drags me to The Hills Have Eyes 2 and she gets a pass on this? Go figure) and I'm dying to talk to someone about my take on it....

Pretty awesome flick. Even more colorful than "Hero". Fantastic visuals, great fighting sequences, good story line, great acting, elaborate costumes and sets, and an unexpected ending. The visuals alone are worth watching this film. The courtyard battle and the ninjas(?) descending on the governor's house blew my mind.

From Gauntlet Press:

BLOODLINE is tentatively scheduled to ship to us May 24. We'll have them 4-5 days later and will begin shipping immediately. Most important, I have to give my printer a dropship list on May 18, so anyone waiting until the last minute would have to get their order in by May 16th. Once I send the printer the dropship list I can't make any changes. Some copies go to national distributors (for Amazon.com for instance) and I can cut the number of copies they receive up until I sent my printer the final list.

Sounds like shipping will be the first week of June.
