This little movie gem starring Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor as gay ex-cons is not being released in my neighborhood. It has also been pulled from other cities. If it weren't for an article in the L.A. Times about the movie, I wouldn't have heard of it. So, I followed my sources and got a copy of the movie.

It's gay. It's funny. It's serious. It's based on a true story of a famous con who escaped Texas prisons several times during Bush's governorship. But it's also about the love that drives this con to escape, his love for his gay lover. It's a poignant relationship.

This is Carrey's masterpiece. McGregor too shows his acting chops. Although the relationship is initially played for laughs, the pathos soon takes over. First you laugh, then you cry. And the movie works on both levels.

Too bad many of us won't be able to see it in the theaters. If it's in a movie house near you, see it; if not, rent it.

P.S. Great double-feature with Eternal Sunshine....

Vikings vs. dragons. All kinds of dragons. Nerdy kid who wants to follow in his dad's viking shoes just doesn't fit the bill. But during a dragon attack on their village, the kid uses his gadget to wound a "phantom" dragon. But because the dragon is so fast, no one but the kid saw the dragon go down over the hills into the woods. So the next day the kid follows the broken trees to find the stealth dragon unable to fly out of a huge enclosed canyon. So the kid builds a new gadget to replace the dragon's partially severed tail and trains him to fly again. Thus, they become friends.

Building on this friendship, the movie builds to a grand finale of a battle between the mother of all dragons and ... well, I won't give that away, but you won't be disappointed.

Great story. Great characters. Great 3-D.

Avatar led me to believe great things about 3-D. Alice in Wonderland dashed that belief. HTTYD made me believe again.

Go see it.

P.S. And keep the 3-D glasses. Don't toss them in the recycle bin. Recycle indeed. Five bucks for those glasses. Recycle...hah!

OK, it's not TV or film, but A BEHANDING IN SPOKANE is a must see on Broadway for anyone who loves Christopher Walken. He is amazing, and it was thrilling to watch him from the 3rd row. It's a wild and crazy play, dark and funny, and he is hilarious. If you're in NYC before June 6th, when the play ends its run, do yourself a favor and fork over the big buck to see it. Walken is definitely worth it.

I searched and didn't see anyone else posting on this movie.

It is a documentary with Jimmy Page, The Edge and Jack White talking about guitar and their lives and veiws on playing and songwriting etc etc.

I really enjoy all three of these guitarists, some more than others but I really liked this movie. It really showed how their personalities come out in their playing style and song writing.

Well worth a watch if you are a fan of any of these guys or just a fan of guitar playing. Good Stuff.

So I was at the barber shop today and on the tv was playing a movie. Starting of movie the boy jumps out of bed and goes to the girl he likes's house. the girl calls him "sidhu". They are in love but the girls parents do not know. I am guessing she is from a rich family and he is not.

I only got to watch first 10minutes of the movie then it was my turn for haircut.

Thanks in advance.

I went and saw The Losers and it was decent. Good action, solid acting and a smart script add up to a fairly entertaining flick. I thought the finale was a bit weak which prevented it from being a movie that you need to see in the theatre to one that can be rented unless you are dead set on seeing it in the theatre.

Thanks Paul for answering my question about Black Rain.
The questions I forgot to ask:
(1) Will these older books that you are releasing via Kindle be released in any other format? (Just because the iBooks on the iPad is MUCH COOLER than the Kindle iPad app!!!)
(2) In the three ebook volumes of the LeNague Chronicles - are the short stories that were added to the trade paperback volumes reprinted?
Also, were those short stories previously in your short story collections - all of which I read, but did not read them when I finally read the LeNage books.
(3) Are there any plans on releasing "The Keep" in ebook format? I see "Reborn" but not "The Keep".
Thanks for your patience.

I like Netflix. All these old movies I haven't seen in years.

I recently watched The Omega Man with Charlton Heston. 1971. I remembered seeing it as a kid and it freaked me out. Remade into I am Legend.

Any other Ideas out there for good netflix rentals?

I just started Secret Circles. Finished the first chapter this morning. I know they're YA books, but I wish they were longer.

Thanks FPW for feeding my imagination. If not for you, we'd be stuck with King or Koontz or JK Rowling or something.
