How sad. I thought he was great at Spartacus and was hoping he'd get better.

From IMDB:

Andy Whitfield, the star of the cable TV series Spartacus: Blood and Sand, has died in Australia after a battle with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma; he was only 39. Rest in peace.

I've been a huge fan of F Paul Wilson for some time and while watching Hellsing through a second time I found a neat little Easter egg in episode nine about nine minutes in. I was watching the show and they started talking about a book which takes place around WW2. It sounded a lot like The Keep. At this point I texted my friends to let them know what i thought was a really neat reference. A couple of minutes later they introduce a new character named "Paul Wilson". I was super stoked to find a reference to my favorite author in one of my favorite anime's

Really sorry, as I have some questions that I'm sure have probably been discussed here before. I'm going to ask them anyway.

I'm working my way through the RJ series and I want to also pick up The Adversary cycle before I read Nightworld.

It's my understanding that the revisions to Reborn and Reprisal are pretty much just related to updating technology and don't affect the story? I already have Reborn and it's an older copy.

It is also my understanding that Nightworld has been heavily revised and is still due for another revision. That's fine by me as I don't yet have a copy of this - my personal tribute to such a pair of great book series will be to own the final book as a nice first edition hardcover. (assuming that it's released like that - I read something from The Man that seemed to indicate he wasn't sure if it would be released in hardcover)

Am I pretty much getting this right so far?

Now for the questions that I'm a little fuzzier on: I've seen the list on this very website for The Secret History of the World, and I see that "Sibs" is on the list. It's not on either of the lists for Adversary or RJ. Is this book pretty closely tied in with the whole thing? Are there events in this book that are key for future books? I've already read past it on the timeline but I can (will) pick it up. Is there a point in RJ or Adversary where I should stop reading until I've read Sibs?

Are there other full books heavily tied into the whole thing that don't fall into RJ or Adversary?

Our indie mystery book store, Murder By The Book, always has lots of great author signings. So far I am scheduling to go to 3 of them. All within a couple weeks of each other.

FPW (of course) - October 14
Joe Schreiber (he wrote a zombie Star Wars book that was a lot of fun) - October 25
John Connolly (a new to me author that I loved - Every Dead Thing) - November 5

It will be a busy fall!

As some of you know, over the last two years Tony and I produced a web series called Genrefinity. (You can view them here.) We've now collected those episodes plus a slew of special features for a DVD release! Along with the four episodes, the DVD also contains:
  • outtakes
  • extended/alternate takes
  • two commentary tracks (one features the actors, the other features Tony, Mike (Aphew) and I)
  • audition videos
  • fundraiser video
As a special bonus for those that pre-order we will also include a DVD contain the four episodes in HD! This DVD will come in the AVCHD format, a format most modern Blu-Ray players will play. (Check your Blu-Ray player manual for compatibility.) You will also get a link to download the episode scripts in PDF format, including three for unproduced scripts! All this for $15 (including shipping). What a DEAL!

So how can you pre-order? By going to the official site. That's how!

I just saw Man on Fire for the first time and loved it! I looked up the IMDB trivia on it and saw that it was based on a book with the same title by A.J. Quinnell. Looking further on Amazon and Ebay I've found that this guy wrote 5 books based on Man on Fire's Creasy character. I can get Man on Fire on Ebay or Amazon but the other 4 are very hard to find. Has anyone else read any of these books? I'm wondering if they are good enough to try to keep searching for.

Hey y'all,

Did I miss a clue, or does anyone have any theories about why the Compendium went all random?

After all, it worked just fine when Jack and Gia were hunting for a cure to the Stain.

In fact, I think it was fine right up until Hank got ahold of it. It just seems wierd that the book took all the beatings and burnings and abuse that mankind could throw at it for 15,000 years, then <ping!> it goes all wacky.

Whaddaya think? Any ideas?

Was reading up on the Ottoman empire and read a word that piqued my interest. "Janissary". The sentence that piqued my interest is "The Ottomans were known to capture foreign children and turn them into warrior slaves known as Janissaries".

Biggest question I have... Is this the origin of the Yeniceri? (at least the word) And, has this been discussed already?
